@@RobertLaTuso Hey Robert so the knot that is likely in your grizzly Bay is a Fanchurian, correct? Gelling is when they bleach the tips and when wet they "gel". In the long run it damages the tips and makes it so the knot won't last as long. The tips can actually break and fall off. Do you load from the tub or scoop? My first recommendation might be to suggest more soap if you aren't already doing that and then allow a little more time to build the lather.

@Tobins_throwbacks Fanchurian? 🤷‍♂️ It does have a fan or bulb shape It is a White Mountain Badger and Not gelled. I scoop 1/4 tsp of soap into a captains choice bowl and use 10-15ml water. Since the knot sits lower in the handle it has a strong backbone (that’s when it resists being pushed down or splayed…correct?) it holds a lot of water even when squeezed out but doesn’t distribute the lather on My face as well. When splayed on face, there is a “suction cup” effect and most lather is on the outside of the brush. My Edwin Jagger brush which has very light backbone and is less dense, painted huge volumes of lather on my skin quite easily and required double the amount of water with the same amount of soap?!

@@RobertLaTuso badger wise? Have you tried anything from Semogue? They make amazing brushes that are also on the affordable side. Higher end you'd likely love the Ultra Lux from Rich Man Shaving

@@Tobins_throwbacks How can you rectify a brush that “eats your lather”? Which Semogue Badger Brush would you suggest with a 24-26mm knot? P.s. Have a tub of Oro Valley and Oud Sigma coming My way ;)

@@SudeepGupta Hey Sudeep! Slant Jackpot perhaps. Since creating this video I picked up the Razo Rock Super Slant and love it I'll include a link to it in my next comment. However, for the price the Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements slants are all amazing. The Monster Slants are milder than the Filament. All 3 slants from PAA are great. I'd recommend any of the Slants in this video to you except for the Merkur. It shaves very similarly to the Parker

@@jackcapone4375 thanks Jack, I don't see how I'd ever go back to tub loading. I have a couple old tubs that i still do. But when it comes to new ones I just can't do it. Have a good weekend!

@@Tobins_throwbacks I recently saw where a guy claimed he had tallow based soaps that 'spoiled'. He thought it was because they were in uncontrolled storage - I guess not in a house or something. I've never had a soap spoil on me, honestly. Some of my soaps (not as huge a collection as yours) are still quite old and when I use them, they are fine.

So far I like the Mühle STF more. I've only used the ST2 twice now It feels great on the face but it has a short loft and no backbone. Hope this helps in a week or two I'll have my full review out
