Awesome Tobin! Well, I guess I'm going to have to start saving up for the Ares and get on the list at some point. I don't think you could go wrong with either razor, but for the way I shave the Ares is a better fit and I'm a sucker for open comb razors. Of course this does make me wonder if he might do a slant in the future, which is a direct hit for me. I love the look and it really stands out from the crowd of modern razor which has a vintage elegance to the design. Very clever and I'm surprised someone hadn't tried a similar thing with how the blade is shrouded. I'd be real tempted to have it nickel plated if I had one. I might have some interesting news for you and I'll be in contact as soon as I find some stuff out. Shnerd! Take care brother!

I'd love to have a stainless steel of the Athena and Titanium Ares. I doubt I'll ever be able to afford at least not anytime soon but they're on my list .

I love the packaging and presentation of this razor. Definitely sets itself apart. The design is absolutely beautiful
It's solid too, and feels and looks great in the hand. A video does it little justice.
Nice review. The box it comes in is absolutely stunning. If a collector bought the razor and stored it away for decades, it would appreciate in value, IMO.

This razor or the PAA ascension open comb?
I love the Ascension and if you get the Stainless or Copper they'll last forever too. Depends on what you Want to spend. But, I'd say Ascension. The Select has a stainless handle but Zamak head. I'd recommend the Stainless. It's heirloom quality too
And the Ascension is adjustable

I'm off topic again, as usual. Just wondering if you have any SE razors, either Gem type or Artist Club type, or do you only do DEs? I've never tried the Lambda Ares, but I owned an Athena for about a month and found it inadequate for shaving my coarse white stubble. Though I do use DEs, I find I prefer the thicker stiffer SE blades. So if you do use SE razors, I'd like to hear your opinion on the Blackland Vector and/or it's Chinese clones. Also Gem, Ever Ready, or Star SEs both ancient and modern. I don't know how to communicate with you as I'm (intentionally) not on Facebook or Instagram. I'm "draebeard" on the Damn Fine Shave forum. I have a bunch of SE razors. I've used a handful of them in my shaving videos in the past.
Unfortunately even though I own probably 30 or 40 or more single edge razors I don't have anything from Blackland or it's clones. I'll link ya to a few of my SE reviews.
Unfortunately Ares probably wouldn't deliver for you. I only say that because of your experience with the Athena, I do think the Aries would be more suitable for you but I don't know that it would be worth the purchase.

Nope not exactly the same very similar but different blade gaps.
