That was very kewl. Thanks for breaking it down and and making it simple for those of us who are dexteriously impared. Also, thanks for the kind words about Heathers Tornado solo. Look at the stick flips she did in her "jazz" solo. Mad Martigan
@iJemProductions The first "RR LL" is just to get into the juggle roll. Once you are into the juggle roll, it is "(R)RRLRRLL" repeated over and over. "(R)" is when you grab the left stick with your right hand while simultaneously pushing the stick into the head to create a note.
i love all of your videos, especially the ones that have the speedometer as the metronome. However, one thing i would like in those videos is a visual representation of the speed (blinking light) that would help a ton since i can barely hear myself when I'm playing double stroke rolls on my snare. thanks for all the vids. keep them coming!
Yeah, I think every category of percussion (or any instrument for that matter) will have very skilled people at the top of their trade. I used to think rudimental snare drumming had the most advanced rhythmic patterns, then I saw a video of an Onur darbuka solo. Search for it - amazing!!!
sweet i already knew how to single juggle but this is a fun way to double roll and to just kinda practice doubles in general but no substitute for actual practice but im getting off topic its a kick ass trick it just took a cupple watches to get it down thanks man
Spirit Snare 80's UA-cam account has a video of him doing it. 1974 Anaheim Kingsmen and 1980 Spirit of Atlanta also used it during features. there's a few videos of them.
Practise your doubles on your pillow, that's very good to practise with doubles. Because you get the feeling of the double and you can play faster on your drum
starting from the note where you grab the left stick with your right hand, the sticking is: (R)RRLRRLL (R)RRLRRLL etc... with the (R) note being the one where you grab the left stick and push it down into the drum head.
Traditional grip is widely used in the general marching percussion world for snare drummers just because it makes you look bad ass and its a tradition of sorts
@spartanxdrummer Thanks. It helped at first but eventually, I got stuck. My biggest problem is the toss. I can get the rest of it to speed up, but the toss is always holding me back.
Ok I just saw the video of Dennis doing it. It looks like you probably just need to practice grabbing the stick higher in relation to the pad, you know, so that it doesn't catch on the rim.
Hey! that combination that you did right after the "Juggle Roll" Aproximately between 1:06 to 1:11, could you put up a video on how to do the Juggle Roll with that combination PLEEEAAASSSE.....
so, as I was playing this lick, my stick dropped on the ground, i went to go pick it up, lost my balance, fell out of my chair, and my practice pad hit me right in the face. i have a black eye now. HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO EXPLAIN THIS TO MY PARENTS SNARESCIENCE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I showed my friends at school this and we added it in our show ^^ sweet trick.
thank you men....this trick is awesome.I was doing this without the "cathcing" note and i was thinking:damn it's a big "space" without this note...

thanks man
i wish there were more kids like you in my drumline
It is the same exact combination as I explained earlier in the video. The only difference is that I play a double stroke roll into the juggle roll.
