I dunno man the beginning by Dave is absolutely beautiful... The creativity in it blows my mind. Changed the way I thought about the purpose of cymbals.
I've watched this 40 maybe 50 times and still get blown away everytime. Love it when Steve "we're on a mission from" Gadd starts the cowbell rhythm they trade solos over. They all sound incredible!
Just from seeing this video again, you can tell how much more musical steve gadd is with his solos in this video, hes playing a lot less as opposed to his counter parts who are just playing 32nd notes the whole time, he creates fills and licks that actually suit the latin feel that he himself set up in the beginning, and he leaves space so the big bursts of notes sound quicker, we should all strive to play more like gadd, by listening and playing what complements the musical style that we play.
Well said I agree with that too that less is more and its good to let the music breathe and allow for space in the piece and play to what's needed not just play all fast stuff to show off or fill the bar
I can't tell you how many times I watched this fucking amazing performance by three drum gods. One is better than the next. Tears well up. Groove churns inside. Holy fucking shit.

Two comments, one Dezan, Dylan is a really cool " street performer" drummer with awesome stick tricks but I guarantee even he will admit he's nowhere near the level of these mega professionals . Secondly, Neil Peart is amazing, we all know that, and he IS in these gentlemen's league . Neil truly did himself a disservice when he added those goofy "samples" to his solo. In my opinion it takes away from his enormous talent and pure genius which we've come to love and respect for over 25 years. Inn
I've been for almost 14 years now, and I have to say, Steve Gadd is the best part of this whole video. The other two are still impressive in their own right, but they are a very technical kind of impressive. Gadd, on the other hand, blew the other two out of the water by having a grove right off the bat, which is where, I believe, he shines the best.
Well, I've been in this business for more than 20 years and all I know is that this is not a sport or a competition. Nobody loses, we all win.
No king of drummer god of drummer

These guys are all at the very top of the list for best drummer. There's absolutely no way to pick one over the other, and for once, I'm ok with that.
