►Police believe a missing two-month-old baby may ''have come to serious harm" in Sussex.
The child's parents - Constance Marten and Mark Gordon - were arrested yesterday on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
Now, hundreds of police are combing a vast area- some 90 miles around Brighton.

@@weediestbroom they would have most probably found evidence of human remains within the fire - doubt it happened in the car; looks like they tried to cover their tracks and divert police to a specific location while trying to escape.
@@weediestbroom but they haven't been charged for murder they have been held on suspicion of gross neglect and manslaughter as a result of going missing from a car fire with the baby in cold weather conditions, which leads me to believe there is a lot more to this story which we are clearly not being told. Why would they set fire to their car and then go on the run with their baby doesn't make sense? what were they running from? it wasn't the police because at that point they were just missing I really hope the full truth does come out

They sound like they were desperate more than anything, especially Constance. It's common for abusive partners to isolate people from their families which may have happened here, so that wouldn't make them 'evil'. They don't necessarily deserve life in prison, but should be tried appropriately.

I read about this story weeks ago, the assumption was always the baby who received no postnatal care had already died - this is no surprise to anyone who doesn't jump on headlines.

Now that poor Nicola has been found, this story has taken top slot to feed the people who jump on a story.

The guys a nutcase and convinced her (Constance) that his delusions are reality. Why burn a car.. then run away? Maybe the media has been told to keep hush about the real crime in case he harms her. I’m just guessing because he’s got a criminal past and she doesn’t! She was a teacher (responsible and trustworthy), he was a deported $3x offender! Horrible. I had a bad feeling that the poor thing’s body would be found. But then when I’d heard they may have been camping in tents i thought the baby may have just died from cold conditions. If they did something that’s even worse and hope they meet justice
unfortunately the baby can't live for more than a day or 2 without food. so unless somebody is now looking after the baby (and why wouldn't they come forward) the poor thing will be gone.

If you Google any sort of profiles on her and her life, it seems she met this bloke and her life rapidly went downhill. Don't want to speculate but it seems she devolved into this way of life, he served 20 years for a sex offence and was deported back to the UK and met her, she started acting strange and they started moving around Airbnbs until eventually going off grid. They were initially being looked for due to welfare concerns, then it ramped up because they were sleeping rough with the baby in frigid temps and potentially Mark Gordon's conviction. Maybe there's more to it, who knows, but it does seem they weren't in any serious trouble until baby was born and there were child engagement concerns and then manslaughter charges when the baby couldn't be located.

@@southcoast80 yeah, I've been looked for under the guise of "welfare concerns". They're never bothered for your welfare, it's always something else. I know of a girl who got with a convicted s*x offender and social work came to her when she was pregnant and told her unless she left the baby's father they would remove the baby from her care as soon as the baby was born. I was suspicious that might be the case here too.
