Tesla was probably one of the most underrated bands of the 80's. A little ol band from the Midwest turned out some of the best songs of that time.

Tesla is an awesome band! They are named for the famed scientist, Nikola Tesla, who invented AC power and helped pioneer wireless radio in the 1890's. Tesla's song, "Man Out Of Time(Edison's Medicine)", is written around the events of the 'current war' between Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla over which brand of electricity would win the day....AC or DC. You really should explore Tesla's catalog of music, Britt.....you definitely won't be disappointed! ;-)
The rivalry between Edison and Tesla got so bad that Tesla had to go into hiding. Edison hired detectives (thugs) to go after Tesla. Tesla's AC system finely won out over the Edison favored DC system. Most people today think of Edison when it comes to electricity, but this is mainly due to Edison's persecution of Tesla, who, incidentally, invented the radio before Marconi. Both men were geniuses, but, whereas, Tesla wanted his inventions to benefit mankind; Edison wanted fame and fortune. Rumors and theories abound regarding Tesla 's inventions. Everything from death-rays to teleporters (Beam me up, Scotty.) have been attributed to him. Many of his notebooks are in a code that to this day hasn't been deciphered. Perhaps we're not ready for this information.
Tesla is one of my favorite bands. Love Song is highly recommended. Another great band from the same era is Waysted named after their founder and bassist, Pete Way. Singing To the Night is awesome. Bye.
Jeff Keith is the most underrated vocalist. He was driving truck before his music career started at age 25 and the rest is history. Need to check out love song, little suzi, changes, hang tough and modern day cowboy. Thanks for reacting to Tesla!!
This band is from SACRAMENTO! They rocked the local scene before crushing it in the mid 80's and beyond. Great songs such as "Modern Day Cowboy; Little Suzi, Getting Better, Signs & Love Song" are just a small sample of their great catalog!

A 80s true rock band that wasnt glam.
And in my opinion the least recognized.
The band Tesla came before Elon's company Tesla, but Nikolai Tesla came before them all.
Yet Nikolai tesla was the inspiration behind the band's name, too.
As a rock-obsessed teenager, Tesla were one of my favourite bands. There are some fantastic rock bangers but their album ‘Five Man Acoustical Jam’ is just brilliant and fun; I always believed that it probably influenced MTV’s ‘Unplugged’ series. The song ‘Signs’ from that show is my top recommendation…

I discovered this band by mistake when they opened for Def Leppard back in 86' or 87'. Went to see DL and had never heard of te opening band as their debut album was just released. They were perhaps the best opening band I've ever seen, blew the roof off good! Went out the next day bought the cassette and wore it out.
I saw them on that tour too. It was great. Last Def Leppard tour before Steve Clarke died.

Jeff Keith, the lead singer, wrote the lyrics about his dog that passed away. Amazing band with an amazing catalog.

Tesla...a FANTASTIC 80s rock band that, while they did enjoy great success, they still kind of got lost in the 80s hair band scene.
They never did the teased & sprayed hair... but today their music is seeing the most air time on Sirius/XM radio's "Hair Nation" channel.

Tesla has all ways been great, but underated in my opinion. I've seen them several times since the 80's. Most recently a couple of years ago, and they are still kicking azz!
I was driving home this afternoon and a Tesla song came on the radio and I thought, "I wonder if anyone has done a reaction to Tesla" and lo and behold, I find this. The universe definitely aligned today. lol

These guys came out of a Sacramento band that played clubs in the 80s called City Kidd. They're a "jeans and t shirt" band, influenced by Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Beatles etc. Be y much devoted to music before image. They've played a lot of acoustic shows, Ben fits etc.
Hey Brit, a little story for you: I have a friend from Zanesville, Ohio, his name is Timmy Jocko, and he met TESLA, and they were floored because he is the TWIN of Jeff Keith, the lead singer and we have pictures to prove it when they met. Song is about his dog that had recently died. Making the absolute best line of the song the tongue in cheek throw away of "Is that good enough fdor the girls we run around with? I do believe so!
I was 16 yrs old when they released their first song called "Modern Day Cowboy" in 1986. That year I saw them pen up for Def Leppard and they been in my top 3 favorite bands since.

They are actually named after Nikola Tesla.They came out in the mid 80s.The car company formed in the early 2000s & stole their name😂.Actually,the car's name was inspired by Nikola,as well.
The singer Jeff wrote this song about his dog that died. Very sad but very deep and true feelings about the ones we love.

I have been patiently waiting for you to discover Tesla and I hope you delve further into their music as I know you will love their music. They are great guys, I have known Jeff the singer since we were in grease school and have gotten to go back stage and hang out many times. They are always good to us. If you like great guitar solos then you need to watch their song Comin at you live off of their 2008 Comin at you live DVD. They are one of the few bands that can pull off the duel lead guitars IMO.

I’m almost 50 I listened to this band in high school 30 plus years ago.. yes they are before the car. :) named after the scientist Nicola Tesla. Btw their album “the great radio controversy “ still one of my top 20 all time favorite albums of all time.

The band came before the car, but the inventor came before both. He was a brilliant mind, who, unfortunately ended up being overshadowed by some of the more famous inventors of the time like Edison. If you listen to another song by this band called Addison’s medicine it’ll give you a bit of the quick and dirty details.

I live in Sacramento where Tesla from I seen them 9 times live even seen them as city kid back in the day legends they are selling concerts even still today. Hang tough little Suzy modern day cowboy changes 13 albums so far not a bad song on any of the albums atleast 30 hit songs

Tesla was scheduled to play a concert last night outside of Plymouth Indiana. It was in a downpour, but buckcherry, saliva, Saving Able all played. Only Telsa refused to play their set. 😞

IMHO they are the real reason acoustical shows like "unplugged" or "story tellers" even started. Their album/show "Five Men Acoustical Jam" opened metal to something besides hair bands (even though they had long hair)🤘
MTV aired their first episode of Unplugged on Nov 26 1989 with Squeeze , Syd Straw & Elliot Easton all doing sets. This was a year before Tesla released Five Man Acoustical Jam - released Nov 9 1990. The inspiration for MTV unplugged came from an acoustic set at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards show performed by Jon Bon Jovi & Ritchie Sambora. The 2 of them came out with just acoustic guitars and did a set & people loved it including the shows producer Jules Shear.

These guys were pretty good I never got into the big hair bands to much I was more into R&B and straight blues But they were pretty good
Back in the day, girls and guys were equally envious of each other's hair. It was a 100% unisex thing, getting that big poofy long hair. Guys and girls who didn't know each other traded tips, it wasn't weird at all, maybe a little bit funny, but we all wanted that big hair.

The band formed in 1999 and are from Nashville, Tenn.
I've heard that this song was wrote about his dying dog. Not 100% sure, but I can definitely see it through that lens as well.
This band one time did a whole tour. Entry fee was canned goods, and they gave all the canned goods to poor families
