Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 вер 2024
- The Iron Man helmet has long been a 3D printed prop maker's right of passage. Today on the show I tackle a classic as I print this helmet in multiple parts, assemble and paint, then fit it with some basic lighting. I hope you all like it!

Great video! Just a couple of comments:
1. Try applying the paint in layers, moving the can from side to side JUUUST overlapping each line... you´ll have less run over.
2. You can apply a clear coat, and then wet sand it to give it a car-like finish.
3. Use thermoforming for the eyes! it's a great way of getting transparent pieces.
Cheers!
We love you 3000
I damn near just started crying...
I finally find an awesome 3d printing channel that I love. I go to the channel and see he hasn't uploaded in a year.
How the hell don‘t you have more subscribers? Really enjoyed the Video, keep up the good work!
wondering the same
The Glowing eyes spooked me. I did not expect them to, and the texture just looked like a continuation of plastic.
definitely interested in that jarvis google home video!
I have a 4x4 inch printer bed... this is gonna take a few weeks XD
And I am Plastic Man..... Snaps
get it
* snaps * oh shoot, did I break one of my parts again?
@@GridDweller77 probably broke a pinky!
You should make a course.
This video is a gem!
An *Infinity* gem? 👉😁👉Eyyyy
What a great intro that was m8.Congrats for your efford and your creativity.Well done.
Woah i wasn't expecting seeing a video with this super high quality, the intro is really cool, you explain very well what you are doing and the overall quality of your helmet is incredible.
You made me want to print one of those and motorising it :)
Hey thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! If you make one yourself I'd love to see some pics!
@@3DIYshow sure but it will take at least one month (printing and buying electronics), i will put an imgur link or some updates when it will be done
@@minmat6635 oh of course. These things take time! I'm excited to see how it turns out!
@@3DIYshow UPDATE : i still need 2 parts to be printed and the face is already painted in chrome gold 👍 given all the polishing work to do, the helmet will probably be finished in one week.
Photos will be added in the end
Very exciting! Can't wait to see it!
In cura you can create a inverted model so you can fill resin in this and you have your eye piece
Tell me more about it please!
That opening was so well done!
This was FANTASTIC
Aw shucks 😁💕
Great channel and underrated channel! Ben Carlin sent me here. Can't wait for more videos.
Hey brother!! Thank you 😊 I look forward to seeing you around!
You can get Batman led lenses on Amazon that you can look through
great video, dope beginning also. im new to 3DP and im loving it
Yes we love you 3000
Thank you big brother
Holy shit, this is so cool!! How long did it take to master 3D modeling and designing these sorta things?
You can usually find files like these and print them instead of modeling
I love your dedication bro good job
Nice Mega Man t shirt!
Good work man❤❤❤👍👍👍
Cool
BRO, can you give the link to it cut, b/c it isnt much of a walkthrough if the pieces are still big. like what?
I subbed, nice vids keep up the work!!
Thanks, friend! See you around! :D
Awesome intro dude 👍👍👍
Thanks friend! 😁
That intro hahahaha
It’s not the size of your printer, it’s how you use it
Stick that... between the two halves🤨? Bro?
Deserve more subs
You should fill the gap using those filament by using 3D pen.
The intro killed me lol
far too many bad comments on thingiverse regarding this, wont waste my filament
SO YOU CAN USE BLENDER FOR 3D PRINTING. I WAS LEARNING IT FOR 2 YEARS AND GAVE IT U P TO LEARN SOLIDWORKS BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT DIDNT HAVE PRECISION
Great.
Bondo is your friend. I used it before 3D printing to make a LOT of custom Mandolorian armor
Does rub -n- buff come in gold?
you're silly. nice job. tip: Buy your lights off of Ebay...cheap and nice.
Gloss black before silver or gold
Great video! I particularly like the intro, which was similar to something I had in mind for one of my props. I just subscribed and will be checking out more of your videos. I'm posting the first video on my Iron Man series later this week, if you're interested. Keep up the good work!
Te quedó con ganas man😃
how many filliament rolls did you use I'm new to 3d printing I printed a few things but helmets my next idea I just don't want to run out mid print
I would have sprayed on a clear paint so its more shiny
Wet Sand it with 2000 grit and clear coat it. And then sand the clear coat with 1500 or 2000 grit and it will look better
Can I print the helmet all at once my volume is 220 by 220 by 250 m m
Did you happen to post the project for the eyes on thingiverse or somewhere?
Do the resin eyes
How did you scale it? Is there any sizing info you can give us? If it fits your head what’s your head circumference? Awesome job by the way!
Looks like somebody didn't watch the end of the video 😂
@@3DIYshow Oh man, you're right, thats embarrassing on my part. I guess I'm trying extra hard to avoid that same mistake you ended up with after all that work, and got a bit ahead of myself. Anyways, good luck on the future of this project and thanks for sharing this video!
Haha no worries man! Glad you liked the video! Good luck with your helmet. I'd love to see some pics when it's done!
Put amazon echo in it and use led strips that light up to sound
My school printer is only a 5 in by 5 in printer how should I splice it?
Subscribe him for all his good work and like his video
getting a 3d printer tomorrow and defo making this is already have made it but not printed so cant wate but mine is a 22cm by 22cm by 24cm can i print it im 13 years old so my head is smail so will i be able to print one?
How did you learn how to sand, and coloring. I am a beginner and this seems like impossible for me
How do you scale all those pieces to you head because I really want to print a helmet but idk how to scale it properly with all the different pieces
OHHH WAIT. its cause the Back Piece from the files was supposed to be moveable so that you can put your head inside
While that is true, it's not the reason it's too small. I decided to attach the piece permanently after I discovered the helmet was too small to fit.
how do you break down the pieces
the only thing i cant understand is, how did you split the parts for printing? and an even better question, how did you design the parts and their curvatures? i cant find ANYTHING online except splines, but with a spline you can only "bend" from one side, and a helmet requires a 3D bend from all sides. Can someone please explain this to me? I am using Fusion 360, can try another software if there is a way
What kind of filament was used for the helmet?
It has been a YEAR but NO youtuber FIGURED OUT HOW TO MAKE glowy EYES it BEEN A YEAR
Have you posted an stl for the eyes you designed anywhere?
He Designed ist on blender
How much filament did it take?
Is that a Monoprice? I think i have the exact same one
Yep! It's a Maker Select V2!
what type of material did u use? Good Job'
Pla
Hey, what glue is the best for pla+ ??
protoman helmet plz?
Idk how you know that I love Mega Man, but this is a dope idea!
@@3DIYshow I saw your shirt in the montage, it was mega man.
Hey, I've recently just started working on this exact same iron man helmet. It's all glued up and ready for sanding. I was thinking of heat bending acrylic too, but seeing from the video, it wouldn't work. Would you be willing to share the files which you have created for the eyes?
Hey! I'd love to share the eyes if they'd be helpful for you! I'll post them up on Thingiverse later today! You have to promise to send me some pics when you're done though! 😁
@@3DIYshow hello, would you be okay with me using the model too? Possible selling as a finished mask in my tiny tiny business ?
Any also THAT YOU CAN SEE THROUGH THE GLOWY EYES
What if u had a mini 3d printer
Same thing, just smaller pieces!
@@3DIYshow k thx
Vacuum form the lenses perhaps?
Good thinking!
What color did you use for the red? Thank you
Hey! I just checked the can and it's an Ironlak spray paint. The colour is called "Soviet" although there's nothing special about it. I would just pick whatever red spray paint you think looks good!
@@3DIYshow Awesome, thank you for the help. I have finished printing mine and need to just finish the painting and electronics.
😂 nice intro 😂
Why thank ya 😁
How do we get the stl file for eyes?
where can i find the files for print?
Here you go! Sorry, I that should have been in the description! www.thingiverse.com/thing:3139532
how to slice the file, please help
Oh man how you make the intro
After Effects, my dude ✌️
what app did you use?
I'm not totally sure I understand what you're asking, but the slicer I used to print the helmet is Cura.
nahhhhh do jarvis!
I believe a poll is in order...
Don't know why but the faceplate isn't accurate! It looks like iron mans gonna cry!
👌👍🔥
Me envia ele de presente .
Tooo speed
What do you mean?
Who is Iron man. Never seen the films
I 100% cannot tell if you're trolling or not 😅
U alive?
This video is fantastic and I'm really astonished by the effort you've put into these videos. But PLEASE, for the love of god, wear a mask when sanding. Getting this dust into your lungs is nothing to be played with.
Thanks for looking out for me dude I really appreciate it! I'll be more diligent with my mask-wearing! I even got one of those fancy mortal Kombat looking ones from Amazon so I'll be extra careful now!
More cheese than a dairy factory- but good cheese...
This.
I am iron man.....
That's iron man if iron man was living off food stamps
Really? After all of that work? *facepalm to forehead* Oy...
13:04 Oh, man... Why? There's got to be a reason...
"Small printer"
no.technically I am plastic man...
jeezlike thats probably the worst way to paint ever. should've just been more patient
Lol what are you even talking about?
Pink hair.. really lol
Well for one thing, it's purple. But I have had pink hair before. It looks great on me ✌️😁
Share those eyes please.
What's wrong with that paint job dude
