The Lancer is hands-down the best allied Big Knight to take. Inherent 4++ save, free specific stratagem that's really useful, and enormously fast. A great source of serious melee, and possibly the ultimate distraction carnifex.
Nurglings have been an absolute lifesaver for me with chaos knights. Ran an all big knight army on the weekend with dawn of war deployment and had my volcano cannon tyrant set up on my home objective and nurglings in each corner of my DZ. The 12" anti deepstrike from the tyrant and the positioning of the nurglings completely screened out all deep strike in my deployment zone and as a bonus got to investigate signals secondary objectives as well. Ended up being a super close game that was only really undone by my aggression in the first turn. They certainly made an all big knight list a little more viable in a casual setting in my eyes though.
One of the best reasons for henchmen is the mystic. Each squad can have 2 and each model has 12" deep strike denial. You could potentially protect your entire backfield with 2 henchmen units, hold a home field objective, and do it for less than a full unit on infiltrators.
It’s be one unit of henchmen but yeah! I think it's strange Votann don't have allies yet as they themselves are mercenaries and traders. They could pretty much go with anyone. As long as it's lucrative.
It's weird considering in 9th edition arks of omen you could ally up to 500 points of votann with any imperium army, but no one did since you lost your pure army rules and didn't get the judgement tokens that the votann relied on. It was never fixed and they completely axed it going into 10th edition. Just seems to be another case of GW having absolutely no idea on what to do with squats.
Generic Inquisitors can be a real hidden gem if your army relies on Battleline units that want stratagems spammed on them. That 3+ to farm CP is a real beast in my Deathwatch army. Plank an Inquisitor into a DW Veterans Squad, and watch me teleport every turn basically for free.
It's super cool that they decided to grandfather in some allies rules for some (almost exclusively imperial) factions and then just drop Tyranids and Genestealer Cults working together completely because they really want people to buy more Imperial Knights but they don't give a shit about xenos anything. Even better that the Cult actually has the tools that the Nids are missing (ranged high ap high dmg shooting) and being able to take allies would actually solve their biggest problems (and drive up GSC sales for the relatively high New Nid Player wave). But why bother with fixing things when you can provide custom rules for the 82nd unique imperial sub-set to staple into any given force?
Great as always, would like to hear some thoughts on Elucidian Starstriders (as part of Agents of the Imperium). For 105pts. they offer quite a bit. Admitedly limited to link-up with Voidsmen (50 pts) / Navy Breachers so a min. cost unit is 155 pts. for a unit, but they do get some nice perks (infiltration, D3 Battleline Units redeployment, 5+ fnp.
I pray for the day they give chaos a brood brothers equivalent for traitor guard. Doubt it’ll happen now that they have the actual data sheets but my undivided cultist/guard army can always hope
Speaking as a Marines player, the Callidus is one of the first things I add to just about every list. The thing is, rather than bumping her up in points again, they could fix her rules just by adding three words to her redeploy ability: "Once per battle". If she isn't bouncing around the table every turn, she's still a useful assassin, but stops being an action monkey. Problem solved. Don't get me wrong, I like having a solid action monkey outside scouts and inceptors, but she's barely seeing use as an assassin; having an auto-pick isn't great for the balance of the game, and I'd prefer to see comparable units coming down in points for the armies that need them, while she goes back to her role of actually killing stuff.
As an Ork player, I can ally in a virtually unlimited number of Snakebites, Goffs, Evil Sunz, Bad Moons, Blood Axes, and Freebooters. Top that, humies.
Exalted Flamers: "Yeah. Sure. I'll take a mini-devastor squad of 3 no-cover rocket launchers. That deepstrikes, has 9" movement, and a 4+ movement debuff on hitting. For 70pts. Pity it flies and gets Assassinated...."
i'm making an Inquisitorial Force army, because why TF not. inquisitor and his entourage, a knight, an assassin, exaction squad, then scions. and some other units. its just cool, and that's the rule. looking forward to 11th edition that makes it illegal
Not having tested it yet, but I might do at some point an Aeldari army based on the Anraithe Aeldari units, Voidscarred Corsairs in particular. Furthermore to intensify the pirate theme of the army, I want to add Drukhari boats to it. But sadly they would suck with the current Corsairs rules, even if I would play them narratively. :/ However though I made the same thing in my head as shown in the video and realized that in order to play them properly, I just have to switch to Ynnari and kitbash Yvraine into a Corsair-lordesque pirate lady! I'd get the rerolls, I'd get the fun gunboats, can field up all of my battleline potential with Anraithe units, Yvraine can actually accompany a unit of Voidscarred Corsairs into battle and even help them out with her ability, that restores lost wounds/models on these (!), so yeah... I figured that becoming an Aeldari Corsair means to embrace Ynnari. Or maybe to just kidnap Yvraine in order for her to lead a space elf pirate army. ^^
Unfortunately Corsairs can only go in CW transport but if it’s only them in that transport it gets their scout move which is kinda nice but I have found when you bring corsairs they tend to die before they get to do anything and for 70pts for 5 models it’s pretty disappointing 1 s4 shot ap1 at 24in with rapid fire assault can’t really even do much to a guard unit before they get wiped great looking models and the kit is great for kitbashing also Prince Yriel is part of the Y’nnari and is a Corsair Prince and can go in their units as well and gives you a 3 unit redeploy to play around with he isn’t all that great of a unit but if fits in the lore
Well, TECHNICALLY, those braindead cultists don't know they're working for the bugs... ;-) Realistically, I see no real reason not to allow some kind of alliance. Just imagine... your opponent has just wiped out your GSC, looks at you and realizes that that was a bit too easy... Cue the hordes of angry bugs flooding the battlefield. Maybe not the most sensible (or easy to get right) thing, but... ;-)
Sorry, I have a question, I don't speak English well so I didn't understand the video well. My question is: if I want to add a war dog to my Chaos space marine army, does that war dog keep his faction abilities or does he just keep his normal abilities? Or are they replaced with the Chaos space marine faction ability? I hope you can answer me
I don’t think they get any faction abilities. In order for them to have their knight abilities they should be in a knights army (so not as an ally). And because they don’t have the chaos space marine keyword they don’t get their bonuses as well
Have to say it’s pretty sad that the Y’nnari the reason I even started playing 40K back in 8th is now just a way to bring dark eldar with craftworld because quins are no longer a faction so are just another CW unit and Corsairs don’t really know what they want to be and if you are dark eldar you can only add some of ether the worst units or ones that do what the dark eldar units do but a little better because they can use the army rules
Shit i just realized ive got 3 armies that totals just shy of 10k pts (deathgaurd, chaos knights, and daemons) i dont have a single lone op.... smh tried to get a changling but i got ripped off.
I still like the idea of an all ally list for Brood Brothers. I love that Canus Rex and his bros are showing up to try and look heroic, having no idea they're answering a recycled distress call from two Genestealer cultists hiding behind some ruins! 😅
What about some of the other models out there like from Blackstone fortress love to add spindle drones to something as like the model but dont want them to mess up anything army wise
I play a unit of voidsman at arms (kitbashed from cadian shock troops) with my marines, just to try and inject a bit of authentic fluff on the tabletop - I want a guard army with 1-2 units of space marine shock troops, sadly this is as close as I can get to a realistic imperial force

Anything that can easily do secondaries, nurglings, call assassin, guants ghosts, etc. But also good luck finding them to buy. WG is too busy trying the spear lore whales with the old world, they are letting their other systems suffer.

Just letting Votann take Tau allies and vice versa could cover up holes in both armies and has backing in the lore. So it's sad that's not a thing.
I was hoping to see summat to do with GSC and 'Nids.
Nurglings in DG are def a must. Idk what else is comparable within the DG faction strict without goin into Daemons.
Vindicare is the weakest assassin....culexus is low key misunderstood how good it actually is (but callidus is by far the best still it's true)
Happy new year, gang
Thank you!
As an Ork player, I can ally in a virtually unlimited number of Snakebites, Goffs, Evil Sunz, Bad Moons, Blood Axes, and Freebooters. Top that, humies.
Personally I feel like knights might fill in a nice gap in the admech list I'm gonna try it out myself
Exalted Flamers: "Yeah. Sure. I'll take a mini-devastor squad of 3 no-cover rocket launchers. That deepstrikes, has 9" movement, and a 4+ movement debuff on hitting. For 70pts. Pity it flies and gets Assassinated...."
kinda wish the inquisition would be given its own codex and expanded range
i'm making an Inquisitorial Force army, because why TF not. inquisitor and his entourage, a knight, an assassin, exaction squad, then scions. and some other units. its just cool, and that's the rule.
looking forward to 11th edition that makes it illegal
Like the Culexus.
I killed with him Mephiston without problems.
Ork Faction Allies: MORE ORKS
Necrons should be able to ally with blood angels
Auspex, I love you. You are the best ! All the best for 2024 !
However though I made the same thing in my head as shown in the video and realized that in order to play them properly, I just have to switch to Ynnari and kitbash Yvraine into a Corsair-lordesque
pirate lady!
I'd get the rerolls, I'd get the fun gunboats, can field up all of my battleline potential with Anraithe units,
Yvraine can actually accompany a unit of Voidscarred Corsairs into battle and even help them out with her ability, that restores lost wounds/models on these (!),
so yeah...
I figured that becoming an Aeldari Corsair means to embrace Ynnari.
Or maybe to just kidnap Yvraine in order for her to lead a space elf pirate army. ^^
Unfortunately Corsairs can only go in CW transport but if it’s only them in that transport it gets their scout move which is kinda nice but I have found when you bring corsairs they tend to die before they get to do anything and for 70pts for 5 models it’s pretty disappointing 1 s4 shot ap1 at 24in with rapid fire assault can’t really even do much to a guard unit before they get wiped great looking models and the kit is great for kitbashing also Prince Yriel is part of the Y’nnari and is a Corsair Prince and can go in their units as well and gives you a 3 unit redeploy to play around with he isn’t all that great of a unit but if fits in the lore
are you allowed to take multiple flavours of allies in the same list? e.g. add in both some wardogs and nurglings to a CSM or DG list
Yes
Is it me or is it weird that they don't allow genestealers cult and nids to work together anymore
Maybe not the most sensible (or easy to get right) thing, but... ;-)
I suppose, but I used to just slap a kelemorph in my nids cause it's funny it looks cool
And because they don’t have the chaos space marine keyword they don’t get their bonuses as well
Lots of things you want but GW isn't restocking - The Video
No mention of rogue trader entourage??
Excuse me, but where are the rules for allies sourced from? I cant see any in the main rulebook
Anyone else remember when Space Marines could ally with Votann lmoa
You could have done traitor guard. They pretty much get the same as brood brothers. And more. But they can have chaos rhinos as well.
Can Cult Marines use stratagems that require Marks ? Cos if not?
Should do. All cult units have their dety keyword.
For the Agents of The Imperium, I really want a classic Witch Hunter/Inquisition/RT mini codex that let’s me throw together various Ordo stuffs etc
Happy New Year to all my Warhammer players, Xenos or Heretic, Imperium or Wildlife.
Q: War Dog Karnivore has two melee weapons can he use both im combat or you have to chose one ??
You have to choose one during each combat phase
Same goes for the Knight Rampager
@@sonarchy5158 So only point of having two of them is like to chose witch one is better suited for what he is currently fighting with
Have to say it’s pretty sad that the Y’nnari the reason I even started playing 40K back in 8th is now just a way to bring dark eldar with craftworld because quins are no longer a faction so are just another CW unit and Corsairs don’t really know what they want to be and if you are dark eldar you can only add some of ether the worst units or ones that do what the dark eldar units do but a little better because they can use the army rules
Make greyfax good in sisters solely for the ship between her and Celestine. This is my one wish. Hear my plea mr. workshop
As a Tyranid player there are no allies......only biomass.
Where are my Ork allies?
Shit i just realized ive got 3 armies that totals just shy of 10k pts (deathgaurd, chaos knights, and daemons) i dont have a single lone op.... smh tried to get a changling but i got ripped off.
I still like the idea of an all ally list for Brood Brothers. I love that Canus Rex and his bros are showing up to try and look heroic, having no idea they're answering a recycled distress call from two Genestealer cultists hiding behind some ruins! 😅
Bro, go to sleep and have a happy new 2024
really wish theyd let agents be a real army
What about some of the other models out there like from Blackstone fortress love to add spindle drones to something as like the model but dont want them to mess up anything army wise
I play a unit of voidsman at arms (kitbashed from cadian shock troops) with my marines, just to try and inject a bit of authentic fluff on the tabletop - I want a guard army with 1-2 units of space marine shock troops, sadly this is as close as I can get to a realistic imperial force
Add a comment...😢
Chaos wardogs are some of the best bang for the buck, just good luck finding any to buy. Anything that can easily do secondaries, nurglings, call assassin, guants ghosts, etc. But also good luck finding them to buy. WG is too busy trying the spear lore whales with the old world, they are letting their other systems suffer.
13:58 why would a khorne army have nurglings? This is why gw’s “anything goes” mentality is a negative
They cant? World eaters arent allowed to bring nurglings. Thats the only strickly khorne army in the game.
Allies are a mistake, the armies that benefit the most from allies are almost all Imperium factions which are already extremely well-supported when it comes to units. Just play the army you picked.
