- St Paul's Church is a local treasure. It was built to replace an old church built pre-1559. The first service took place on September 3rd, 1849, and continued until 1984 when it closed down. It has fabulous stain glass windows designed by Katie O'Brien and donated by the Robinson Family when the church was first built. It has a fantastic pipe organ donated by Seymour Murphy, which is one of only three in Ireland. There is something truly special about this church. It has a belfry spire with a unique conical shape. The architecture was considered so outstanding that Dr Bloomfeild, the late Bishop of London was anxious to have a drawing done of it, in order to introduce it to the wealthiest and most important diocese in the world. The church was lit with brass oil lamps, though it was changed to electricity shortly before its closure. It is sad to see it in its damaged state. It is hoped that it will continue to be a heritage treasure for years to come.
In the middle of the cemetery in a ruined church, which was built in 1699.
The cemetery is regularly maintained and is open to the public. Many local heroes are buried in Ballymoney cemetery. Joseph daunt 1826, Lennox Robinson, a poet and a man who worked with theatre for many years and General Arthur O'Connor to name but a few. Many of those buried were involved in the Ambush at Kilmichael.
unfortunately, signs say danger. Keep out, but you can access the graveyard.

Another stunning, enchanting place. So sad that people think it's ok to throw garbage inside a tomb. All in all, a beautiful tour. Thank you, Sue!
Glad you enjoyed it toms, the rubbish is horrible, just laziness and not very respectful
,,HALLO,, SUE, AND. HUSBAND, THANKS. FOR DIS, GREETINGS. FROM A. 76. Jahrs. Old. Lady. Fon the Dutch, 🇫🇲🇳🇱thanks. For the video…….⚰️🪦🩸🪔🪔⚖️😻🙏🏼🥹😇🎻🌈
Hello ❤️
That tree in the church looks like someone with their arms extended and reaching up to heaven.
Someone else said the same thing ❤️
Always wanted to go to Ireland and Scotland!! My husband died, age 41 and I had to raise 3 kids as priority, subsequently I never had enough money to travel there. That’s what dreams are made of !!!! Beautiful scenery and love your people there, blessings to you all. Thanks for bringing these videos! ❤️🥰🙋🏼♀️from USA 🇺🇸
I'm so sorry to hear that, gosh that was a hard time for you all.
I would love to go to Ireland too. Like you the children always came first but we can dream
We can dream, dreams do come true
The more I watch these videos, the more my opinion of Irish stone masons grows. Some of the best in the world. Makes me proud to have Irish DNA.
Oh all those years ago, no machinery. They were definitely the best
Even graveyards come alive in Spring. Magick of Ireland 🇮🇪 🌷🕊️🇮🇪
Couldn't agree more
My dad didn't like the autumn, he always said it made him sad because very thing was dieing. He died in the autumn, in his garden 😢
@susanh3342 no way Susan, ahh I'm so sorry.
@@SerenitySueGraveyards 😢
The second tree looks like a really tall man with his arms stretched to the sky. That is exactly the place that my daughter wants to get married in minus the grave stones. It is so pretty.
A few have said that it looks like an angel, how wonderful was that church, I love it
So sad when someone opens a tumb and destroys the person that was put there by family thinking they are pertected forever. 😩
It may have opened over the years but to throw rubbish in there is absolutely awful
Only will they realize what they have done when one of their own is disturbed. So sad.
@stasiacromie9584 oh yes, then and only then will they know
People are sick. And one day they will regret their actions.
Tomb…
You're right, Sue!! This IS indeed an enchanting place!!
The old church must've been SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL in its heyday if that GORGEOUS stained glass window is anything to go by!! I'm glad that the stained glass has been left alone!!
I wish people wouldn't dump rubbish inside crypts, or even around cemeteries and graveyards!! It's SOOOOOO disrespectful!! Also, it's not a pleasant sight for any visiting loved ones to behold!!
Thanks for sharing this STUNNING place with us, Sue!! XXXX 👍💞❤💕👏
Yes Nadia, it's horrible to see all that rubbish, who'd want to do that, if I could get in there I'd of taken it out, terrible
I have a phobia about walking over a grave. I just can't. It seems so disrespectful. I have to walk around. 😢
@@cathybenson5119 I couldn't walk over a grave either!! I too find it VERY disrespectful to do so!!😥
Beautiful graveyard so sad graves are disturbed. Why would anyone destroy someone’s resting place. Such a shame I feel like going and trying to clean up what I can. Many graveyards in the same shape. Have mercy on their souls
It's just awful..why are people so disrespectful
What a beautiful day to go tombing! Lovely place! The vandalism needs to stop.
I agree, whatever happens during natural decay I can cope with but to use this place as a dump is just not on!!
This is beautiful the 2 old churches and the castle stone. Love it ❤❤❤
Completely agree with you
Your so right Sue enchanting place ,the view through the windows of the church ruins looked like a painting, safe travels guys take care
Thanks so much ❤️
Gorgeous stained glass window xxxx
Such a shame it's abandoned
How are you feeling Sue? I was wondering if that map near the gates let you know who was where, but once inside, I looked around and thought "maybe not"! Lol. The bluebells really stand out in the green grass, they are so pretty. This churchyard has an air of something ancient and special, a little sad too. Ta for walking us around Sue and GV. Take care and be safe. Deb of Oz XXX
Thanks Deb, I was feeling horrible but got a call from the Dr. Who said my Vit D was very low, so I'm on meds for that and I'm feeling better. Maybe that's what was making me feel so ill. Thankfully my Dr. Is amazing and always does my bloods
i was thinking the 7 graves and the simple stones are famine graves.
Must be Tom.
I love the little bluebells, everything looks like an enchanted fairy garden, Ireland is so very beautiful ❤ Thank you for your wonderful walks in these amazingly beautiful cemeteries ❤
You’re welcome 😊
I love ireland. If I was younger I would love to buy a church and live in it. Graveyard and all. Thanks
I
Oh me too, that's my dream
What a find Sue. Shades of green we don’t see here in Texas.
Beautiful. Cork looks like a fantastic place
Oh it is Aunty, the best came from Cork 💖
That was a different shade of green. Just lovely! The mausoleum looked like a crime scene. Just disgraceful. Like you said, once animals get in humans inevitably follow.
For sure Greg, the rubbish is awful
Such an enchanting peaceful graveyard. The old church beautiful. I don't understand how people can trash a grave. What if it were their loved ones😮 thanx Sue for a great walk and showing all you did. You guys be safe, God bless love you guys.❤😊❤😊
Thanks Deborah, take care
I was late checking in so I am watching the replay. I really enjoy both of your videos. I try not to miss any of them. Being in the states the people of Ireland and England seem lost family to me, because of my early family ties. When I retired 20 years ago my plans where to come over there and do some family research. Unfortunately, we are not in control of our destiny. I was in a major relapse of my MS in 6 months of retirement and did not improve and my doctor restricted my travel to only short visits. Now at 72 years of age I have became so interested in these areas, studying them daily and learning all I can. Being a Historian majoring in History and Political Science started my interests further. Keep up your good work. Both of you are so thoughtful in your presentations. 😊
I'm so sorry to hear that Paul, as you say we can't control our destiny. Thanks so much for all you do
That church is the property setting for an old horror movie.
It was creepy cool and very beautiful
Another great video👍 shame the church is being left but wonderful how nature takes back it's land. So very sad to see people disrespect for the dead in the open crypt, but we shouldn't be too surprised because many don't have respect for the living
I have to agree Clare, nature always wins and people will always be disrespectful
Oh Sue, You really have a way with showing us the beauty. That is something I would do when visiting the old church yards, take the time to notice the lovely life all around. Thank you so much. xx Edited to add; I had me some Beamish in McCarty's pub in Cork, it was good so it was, but not as good as my beloved Guinness lol.
Ahh yes, it's always good to take in the beauty that's around you, never liked Guinness and never tried Beamish. Thanks Fran
Stunning old church ⛪️
Love it
Those huge stained glass windows! Wow 👌 I would love to see in the second Church. I bet it's stunning!
Oh me too Bob but there was no way in around that fence..which is annoying
Beautiful church and cemetery. A couple of guys with shovels could dig out and reset that stone in that Mausoleum. It's a shame. Throwing trash in there is just the worse. Great video, thanks, stay safe.
Absolutely gorgeous arched doorway - so sad to see all these churches in ruins! Great video Sue ❤
Many thanks!
Thank again for a great video!! ❤❤.
You are so welcome! 🥰
So beautiful. Thank you.❤❤🙏
You are so welcome Dolores 🙏
Stunning I just love how old this place looks... just beautiful
I agree, so beautiful
Gee, Ireland has some beautiful old ruined churches and overgrown graveyards! Loved the video Sue. You always make an interesting commentary and I'm sitting here nodding my head when you have spotted features and commented on them, as I have made the same assumptions about them just moments before you voice it. Thank you so much, very enjoyable ❤
That's lovely, thank you ❤️
thanks sue another interesting vid.
Thanks Mark
Always a thumbs up! I am always curious about how long some have been at rest and the age they were at the time. To disturb their resting spot isn’t right at all! Very disrespectful! May they continue to Rest In Peace. Tc and stay safe.
Thank you ❤️
Wonderful video Sue, and the cemetery was very pretty. It's really a shame that people do not have any regard for other people's grave sites.
Thanks Joel, it was very beautiful
Another gorgeous green and lush place, marred by a few vulgar semi humans that think it's ok to desecrate someone's eternal resting place. Your videos are so important Sue as it brings about awareness, and just might encourage people to reach out to restore, clean and respect these sacred spaces. Thank you so much Sue 🙏xx Teresa 🇦🇺♥
Oi Oi Oi...🤓
Thank you Teresa, yes, I agree. If I was able climb in there I'd take the rubbish out. So lazy of people and disrespectful

This is a prime example of why I wish I could visit Ireland; beautiful, just beautiful. The old ruins and graveyard beckons to my soul. Thank you for sharing and now I'm A new subscriber.
Thanks so much for the sub
Beautiful old churches shame we couldn't get to see inside one of them..Truly enchanting place..Sending you love from London my friend 😘
Hi Maureen, thank you ❤️
Beautiful churches & graveyard. I am fascinated by the old stones & markers but also how in some ways the old cemeteries are quite different than what we have in America. The beautiful rails are not common here. Also the underground vaults we don't see here. We have mausoleums but not underground vaults. Your channel is so interesting. I love it. Also sadly even though I have an Irish great grandmother I am unable to visit Ireland. What I have seen looks so beautiful. . Thank you for virtually taking me along with you on your tours. I hope you always have safe travels & that our Lord always has you & your loved ones in his holy keeping
Thank you so much 💓
Stunning view
Such a Beautiful Graveyard...Love the Old Churches and the bluebells. I'm like u Sue, I don't understand why the church was abandoned ?? It didn't seem that old. Such a shame. Thank You, Sue and GV for another wonderful video ❤
Hi Tracy, the place was beautiful even in ruins. Can't figure the abandoned church either
my goodness 😢 those poor people /person in the tomb! What a terrible shame. The video was beautiful otherwise! I am always so amazed by how lush & green it is in Ireland 🇮🇪 so beautiful 🤩 Another wonderful video Serenity Sue! Much love to you & GV from Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦❤️🇮🇪
Thank you so much!
Will watch the video tomorrow, time to go to bed now, have to get up at 4AM to go to work,... on a Sunday. 🙂
Have a nice evening.
Urh work at that hour 😴 get some sleep
What a fascinating place of ‘learning’ tour! Many thanks! I enjoyed the stone history tour! Learnt a lot along the way! Great to see the sun shining!
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful day there. Thank you for another great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Watching this late, due to some very strong storms we got here yesterday. Such a very beautiful tour. I loved how you showed the view of the countryside beyond the stone window of the church. Looks so similar to the scenery from my backyard. It was sad seeing the remains of that dear soul laying there amongst all the rubble. The opening to that crypt needs to be sealed up. Thank you for this lovely tour, and showing your respects. God bless you and GV. From Oklahoma U.S.
Thanks so much Rebecca ❤️
Beautiful ( kinda creepy) graveyard. Terrible trash in tomb! The new church was beautiful. Wonder what happened?!? Thanks Sue!
I don't know Liz, it's such a beautiful building and looks modern. Yes, a shame about the trash
Beautiful graveyard ....
I love your tours ...
Thanks so very much Sue
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you ❤️
I love the bluebells ❤
One of my favourites
And I want to thank you both Sue for all you do in showing us your finds. Sincerely.
You're so welcome, thank you for being here
This is the reason I would never have a vault, if told my family to bury me deep as they can . Love this channel fantastic content as usual.
I appreciate that
Hi Sue and GV. Always try to catch your lives but I think it’s not working on my end. Love your videos. Stay safe! Hugs from Marci
Hi Marci, I seen you in chat, thanks 🥰

Yes they are
Pete from Australia once again thank you... what a beautiful country side so lush and green the blue bell's beautiful old church's...so sad the Vanderlism
Many thanks Pete
What a beautiful church that was !
Just gorgeous
Glorious view💚
Another great video Sue! Hopefully no one comes back on you for showing the trash in the tomb.
If they do it will be out of their embarrassment for not sealing or at the very least cleaning it. Funny how people get annoyed when they see the bad
Wonderful video with gorgeous blue bells
Thank you very much!
Love your channel✨
Thank you so much!!
I missed the end, I had to come back and watch it. We're dealing with tornadoes today in Oklahoma City Oklahoma! All is good so far. Another good one sue!OKC 🇺🇲🇺🇲✌🏻

Thank you for your prayer ! OKC luvs you guys🇺🇲✌️♥️
Love watching your videos and visiting the cemeteries and graveyards. And Ireland is so beautiful.
Glad you like them!
Most welcome ❤️❤️
Thanks ❤️
Interesting channel. Appeals to my youth when I haunted the gorgeous crypts in Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal and peeked in where possible. The highest grounds had the richest tombs, like gardens with stone carved tables and benches for the famlies who would go there to picnic with old beloved . . . kin and gossip.
Oh I love that, we only have a few graveyards in Ireland like this, mount Jerome and Glasnevin. Both on my channel
Oh Sue. It makes me so sad to see such a gorgeous building fall into ruin. It would be a beautiful home with quiet neighbors….❤
I totally agree!
Hello that was lovely what beautiful spot , I have to tell you , you had me going Ballymoney I thought oh yes Ballymoney Co / Antrim . We McKenna"s are from that Ballymoney :) Thank you alway lovely to see you..
Glad you enjoyed Shaun, yes there is one in Antrim too. Hoping to get up that way soon
Looking forward to the video
Hello Sue and lovely cemetary as always. Just be careful on your adventires.
Thank you ❤️
Greetings Sue & GV This tour was absolutely breathtaking, the bluebells are gorgeous amidst the landscape of greenery, can you tell me do these particular flowers have a noticeable scent, most curious to know, Thank's for taking me along through this historical old graveyard, to see this makes my heart sing, such natural beauty at it's finest... 👍👍
The bluebells don't but the primroses, give a really pretty perfume, thank you
That garbage in that mausoleum upsets me. I won’t even walk on top of someone’s grave, for someone to leave all the in there is so disrespectful. What do people think when they do that?
The castle memorial and the one that looked like wood are beautiful.
I have no understanding on people who discard their rubbish like that, it's awful
20:40 I think that is a zinc plate. There were many so called "zinkers" that were made here in the states, thanks to the old department stores and they are still very readable and withstand the test of time. You're right Sue, the blue bells with those butter cups(?) look so pretty.
Oh I've seen those headstones, zinkers I think they are beautiful, we don't see them here. Yes bluebells, buttercups and some primroses too
That is just egregious to have human remains be so dishonored.
What kind of person thinks it's ok to leave their garbage in a sacred tomb? Sad, to be sure
It is kind of awe-inspiring thinking that so many graves are 200 years old...give or take some years. Wow!
It is really cool seeing the old graves but why use them as a dump?? It's horrible
Hi Sue and GV, hope your day was blessed. The headstones here were beautiful and very unique love them. I do have a question, do people usually bury their loved ones in old closed churches? Seeing the remains in the tombs disrespected breaks my heart. Blessings Kathy
If there's a church ruin, you can guarantee there'll be graves inside, usually those who have money or they were a local devoted parish family and mass attended
Love these old cemeterys in the spring sue beautiful 😊
I love them too
I love these small graveyard thanks for video take care both x
You're very welcome 🙏
Really cool grave stones!
Thanks Robin
Tks for ur vision of a thing past. Old can't travel. Stephen MARTAN/WILLIAMS
Thanks Stephen
It’s a sad forgotten churchyard. All that history lost through so much neglect.Very sad,yet it’s really pretty and peaceful at the same time…Love n Light to you both 🥰
I agree Christine
I wonder if alot of that rubbish might of blown in on the wind.... Or yeah thrown in by plonkers. Another good video cheers Sue! ❤
Couldn't have blown in, well just looking at the height of the slab in front..
If at all possible you should maybe include when these amazing buildings were built
I read the info at the start of video and more Info in description box below video

Good evening Sue 27/4/24 I hope you both have had a lovely Saturday And your both well xxxxx
Hi Fiona, have a blessed day
This is a stunning graveyard thanks for sharing with us.
Glad you enjoyed it
Those old church ruins with the tree makes me think of fae folks . It's strange that a graveyard can be so beautiful.
I have found many old graveyards that are simply enchanting, definitely homes of fairies.
@SerenitySueGraveyards definitely but o so beautiful
Yes, this place with the trees and bluebells wad stunning
It makes me so sad to see the beautiful churches in ruins or going to ruin. I know that they are so costly to preserve & maintain. If they are Catholic churches Rome should be preserving them. I'm a practicing Catholic & I find it appalling that Rome just let's them fall apart. Heaven knows they have the money to save them.
True!
Yes, churches should be preserved, definitely the Catholic church is not poor and can afford this care but I think this was bought by church of ireland
Hi sue Steve from England. Another awesome video sue. I wonder why people use the tombs for their own private rubbish dump? Special when it looks so grand. Nice one sue.
Hi Steve, it's just awful
First, I want to thank you for putting up a map of Ireland 🇮🇪 with an arrow showing the location of this place at the beginning of the video, nice touch. Beautiful old church, and older church ruins. The graveyard is very interesting, a bit overgrown like you said. I would not have walked on that overgrowth either. The last thing you need, is to have a old grave collapse under you. The trash in the vault is very disgusting 🫣
Perhaps one day, a trust can take over the place and get it into shape, maybe even carefully removing the trash from the crypt and sealing it up. Thank you very much Sue and GV, for another awesome video. Take care. 😊
Thanks Michael, appreciate it
@@SerenitySueGraveyardsYou are very much welcome! Thank you very much for getting back to me.
Well sue and GV another great Graveyard adventure great as usual sorry to see 👀 your wrist in a brace
Thanks John, I'm good, I've arthritis
Beautiful area. Odd that there's so many unmarked stones all over the place.
My thoughts exactly
It seems every gate has a unique squeak😂 makes it authentic.
Gotta love the church ruins ❤. Some may think it strange but I'd love to have a picnic in there. Such a peaceful place.
If I may I love hearing you guys talk. I am Irish blood, and it just dances everytime y'all speak. ❤
I love their use of words written on the head stones , its so beautifully spoken. Something you just don't see now days.
There's something beautiful about death and nature. How life ends and begins anew still clinging to the memory of the past.
Enjoyed it guys another beautiful graveyard. ❤ God Bless You 🤗 take care
So we'll said!! As for the squeaky gate, they sure do sound creepy and very fitting for an old graveyard. The ruins are just beautiful, I'd rather have a cuppa in a beautiful graveyard than a busy man made park

We will never see the iron works and masonry skills again, as everything is done by machines now. So gorgeous.
Yes, unfortunately rails are not used anymore
Beautiful churchyard Sue. I like the bluebells with the grass. Is the church going to repair the newer church?
I actually don't know, if it will be fixed
