Beautiful and peaceful place. Many Americans think our country is so old, without taking into account the history that other parts of the world have. I am in awe of these old cemeteries and buildings in Ireland. You can feel the history by just standing in them.
@@natalieshort5768 I’ve been twice and it’s amazing, both the people and the places. I said many, not all, fail to realize how old the world is outside of our country. I hope you get to visit Ireland someday, you will fall in love!
WOW would be putting it mildly. What a gorgeous old Abby and graveyard. Thank You Sue for bringing us here to step back in time with you. I am happy they are taking such good care of it for us and future generations to see!💚
Stunning is the right word. I am not expecting to ever visit enchanting Ireland but thanks to you I have seen so many amazing and beautiful things. 💚☘️
I’m from Ontario Canada and I really enjoy your videos! I’ve always wanted to visit England and Ireland but never had the chance ….I just love the Abbey tours and grave tours ..awesome content! Thank you😍🥰
Yeah I just discovered this channel today she's got some cool stuff going on but the pictures in these buildings pretty freaking awesome man this is history love it
Thank you again Sue for great content! I was told long ago that if one were to place a thin sheet of paper over the old unreadable stones. And go back and forth, one can trace the information that has become unreadable. Some have made this a hobby! Cheers!
Hey John, yes I've heard of this, grave rubbings, I think it's called, I've never done that, I think I'd be a little afraid, especially with older stones, just in case I'd damage them but I've seen it done and it's gorgeous
I can imagine going back in time walking through the hallways and seeing it in prestine condition. Not an easy way to live in the 1200's. Hot or cold it would have been difficult. The carvings were beautiful. Thank you Sue for allowing us to walk beside you.
Yes sally from phoenix az usa. Wow and really excited for you to be so excited about this Abby! Wow the 1100's and the carvings look almost new. So much to see and headstones wow when you went up the stairs what a view! And all the cows making noise. Very nice video and thanks for sharing. Stunning history.
I really love how they restored the collums in the arcade. So delicately done. You actually can still see, where the original stonework ends. And it is also nice to see that they didn't lay hands on the carvings. The great skills of the original stonemasons is still to be seen. Thank you Sue for another highlite. I really needed that to cheer me up! Love Sonja
Hi Sonja, yes it's truly amazing, gifted carvers, you'd wonder how they learned such crafts, the detail of the knight and monk are amazing they are still there, love to you Sonja
It is so beautiful. Thank you for showing this historical site. Some of my ancestors originated from around that area. I'm not exactly sure what village. They came America in the early 1700's.
I could have traipsed and goggle eyed this amazing Abbey and graveyard for hours with you Sue! My eyes got misty a few times, especially with the effigies and chanting monks (I love listening to chanting monks). It's wonderful to see such a high level of preservation works. A simple thanks doesn't cover my immense gratitude to you for sharing this one. Deb of Oz.
Amazing! Your imagination runs wild, I could hear the swish of their robes behind you. Lives dedicated to God. Stunning. Thanks so much for taking us there Sue♥️
Thank you for taking the time out of your life to bring us to these wonderful places, we would most likely never see or know existed without your channel. I look forward to the next one. Thanks again from Texas
I’m from the United States, I’ve been enjoying these . This Abbey is beautiful, or should I say magnificent. I’ve never been to Ireland, my family has, but I got married and moved quick enough. I love seeing these because it’s like traveling, my husband and I would love to visit Ireland and Scotland. My father’s family is originally from County Kildare , when the Catholic Church had its division, they all went south to Couty Cork and eventually immigrated to the USA. ( The family name derived from O’Brannaghan to O’Bradley to an Anglo Saxon Bradley ..( which is a Scandinavian surname for “ broad lay of the land “ ) … lots of crazy stuff
Thank you Sue . The entire complex looks as if a fairly big budget is used to keep this place in wonderful condition. Are most of the burials of locals or of monks ? So interesting. I wish you could see the kitchen or the sleeping chambers or where the monks gathered every morning to pray.
Thanks Paul, I'm thinking they are locals, it was cheap to get inside to see the graveyard and abbey, so I'm not sure how they keep up the the place, maybe the OPW office of public works
Wow breath taking , absolutely stunning . You can imagine the monks in their robes walking there . A beautiful chance to see the carvings and gravestones and tombs that are so well preserved . That was a brilliant walk , thank you so much Serenity Sue . I'm from Coldstream in the Scottish borders xx
Thank you for sharing such amazing history of the 12th Century it’s lovely to know that this beautiful piece of history is being so well looked after, hearing the lambs and sheep in the distance l would think the whole area was surrounded by livestock when it was active, also looking at the very low down gate that you went to must of been something to do with the livestock that grazed in the area. I’m from Essex but would love to visit one day. How they built these magnificent places in a time when tools were so basic still amazes me. Thank you for sharing.
What an awesome video of a wonderful Abbey and graveyard, so glad it is being looked after with it's remarkable carvings and history. I felt such a deep emotional response when you played the chant, must be an ancestral thing, even though I have lived in New Zealand all my life! thankyou so much Sue, I loved it ♥
Hi Irene, I wasn't going to put the chant in, even after saving this video and uploading it, I still felt an overwhelming desire to put it in, so I went back and placed the chant onto the video, I'm glad I did now 🌹

The small effigies are so remarkable. Not only to have lasted the way they have, but also their size. Such small people saints monks and even animals. The faces are so different. I can tell they’re of real people. Thank you for sharing this amazing work with us.
Amazing! On my father's side we are Scots-Irish. Our lineage was from two boys sold into Bonded service for a tobacco farm in Massachusetts. They were 16-13 yrs when they came to America and by the time the elder was 18 he paid off his debt and paid for his younger brothers freedom before his 19th birthday. We'll know more by the years end when our book is complete. Love your dedication and your accent and have began binging your videos. Thank you for sharing your story with us! God Bless 🙌
Oh my, when I read about one brother paying for his brothers freedom, I got goosebumps and as I write this I've got them again..so much history, such sadness..

What a wonderful and beautiful place to be!! I have always wanted to visit such wonderful places in the UK, but I have never been able to go. Now, I am old, and probably won't make it during this lifetime, but it means so much to be able to see it through your lovely channel. Thank you so much for doing this for all of us that are unable to go for ourselves. We live through you, Sweet Sue. God Bless you and I look forward to seeing more videos like this. We do not have them here in Battle Ground Washington in the United States of America. God's mercy and protection to you as your journey continues.
Thank you so much for your videos. I am from Canada. I love all the old ruins and graveyards. You are so lucky to live so close. I would love to visit these places but it will forever be a dream. So thank you again and God Bless!
Beautiful..I loved each detail and all way back to 12 century is so awesome. A great job done Sue! Aways great seeing your videos. God bless You and until next time have a very pleasant weekend! ❤️🇺🇸
Absolutely amazing what you have shared with us. I never tire of the beautiful Celtic weave and effigy that our ancestors carved from stone eons ago. I had a chance to see St. Patrick's tomb in Downpatrick Northern Ireland, but that is in a more modern cemetery, as he was moved around a bit and shares his tomb with St . Brighid and St. Columba. Please keep sharing all the beautiful places with us.
Thank you for this really interesting tour. I love ancient ruins (of course, there is nothing like this in Australia). The Abbey is beautiful and the carvings are amazing. I could imagine the monks living, working and worshipping there.
The carvings amaze me. Makes one wonder how they could create such intricate details in the carvings without the tools we have today. I would love to visit here one day. ❤
Great idea to do that, actually when I find a location I sometimes use Google map and put it into satellite to get an over the area view before I travel, many of our cemeteries are on the worst little roads(my poor car) so not always visible

Oh I do enjoy when people say that, I could almost feel the presence of Monks,
You go to the best places.

B+R+E+A+T+H+T+A+K+I+N+G Sue ... It's amazing how this exquisite Abbey is still very much in the Present! Thank you for making that possible! God bless you and yours.
Thanks so much, God bless 🙌
What a wonderful and beautiful place to be!! I have always wanted to visit such wonderful places in the UK, but I have never been able to go. Now, I am old, and probably won't make it during this lifetime, but it means so much to be able to see it through your lovely channel. Thank you so much for doing this for all of us that are unable to go for ourselves. We live through you, Sweet Sue. God Bless you and I look forward to seeing more videos like this. We do not have them here in Battle Ground Washington in the United States of America. God's mercy and protection to you as your journey continues.
Ireland is a magical place, thank you 😊

Thank you so much for your videos. I am from Canada. I love all the old ruins and graveyards. You are so lucky to live so close. I would love to visit these places but it will forever be a dream. So thank you again and God Bless!

@@SerenitySueGraveyards Your most welcome Serenity Sue! ❤️
Thank you John and thanks for watching
Thank you for this really interesting tour. I love ancient ruins (of course, there is nothing like this in Australia). The Abbey is beautiful and the carvings are amazing. I could imagine the monks living, working and worshipping there.
This place is amazing, we have lots of these here thankfully most preserved
Absolutely Stunning! And so well kept. Love it!!! Another Fantastic Video Sue!!! 🪬💞🧿🪦🧿💞🪬
Thanks so much ❤️
The carvings amaze me. Makes one wonder how they could create such intricate details in the carvings without the tools we have today. I would love to visit here one day. ❤
It sure is amazing to see in person
That place is beautiful, love the history, how it is still standing throughout history. Thanks for sharing that place.
Glad you enjoyed it
Absolutely incredible carvings xxxxx
I'm from Pennsylvania USA I love Ireland I only wish I could visit my Irish heritage you bring me there and I thank you.
Very welcome
I'm an Irish girl in Tennessee. I've never set foot home, but thank you so much for showing it to me. I'll get there one of these days.
Hi Dorothy oh I hope you can one day too x
As an American I find it very interesting to Google Earth all of your locations. Thank you and like 🙂
Great idea to do that, actually when I find a location I sometimes use Google map and put it into satellite to get an over the area view before I travel, many of our cemeteries are on the worst little roads(my poor car) so not always visible
