From a human point of view, my logic tells me ask, why a God that is the one God would need to play out a story like this when he could just make it so. Why would God need a back story.
you're mixing up Judaism and kaballah, kabbalism was an Egyptian form of sorcery that infiltrated Jewish culture trough the centuries. But you're right that during some historical periods the Israelites have worshiped Babylonian gods, but there wasn't One Judaism. There were many Jewish Cults through History like there many forms of Christianity right now. Satan isn't the God of the Jews, but our world has been ruled by Mystics, occultists and Pagan Knight-orders trough history.
Benefits are spiritual call them judicial all ya want. I know plenty corrupted and conquered people the Jews have the same difficulty with a spiritual being.
When the Israelites return to the land there were people who had been placed there who became converts to the Israelites way of life thus established Judaism the book of Esra 4 1-2 they claim to worship the same God as the Israelites and to sacrifice to Him !
Yahweh is a cult of an Egyptian pharaoh, who introduced monotheism in Egypt back when it controlled semitic tribes, on who this cult was imposed and who kept worshiping so called "god" even after Egyptians kicked them out.
Did you really just complain that a documentary about an *ethnic group* didn't spend enough time talking about *women's issues*? This is called "History of Judaism," not "History of Women in Judaism." How about this: By your logic, I could always complain that NOT ONCE during this entire documentary did a segment about MEN in medieval Judaism appear. That makes this a clearly biased, misandrist piece. Also, illiterate women aren't very likely to have kept diaries.
This documentary makes it seem as if al-Andalus was Jewish friendly until the advent of the puritanical Almohads. The thing is, this ridiculously popular concept which says that the Jews were living fine until the arrival of the Almohads is too intellectually dishonest. The Almohads invaded al-Andalus in the 12th Century, very much latter than, for example, the 1066 Granada Massacre of Jews. In fact, the Almohads did not even exist when that carnage took place. I think SOME suffer from the same disease my people suffer from which I call 'Andalusianity,' or the worship of Islamic Spain's perceived perfection. Andalusianity causes its adherents to pass off all the imperfections of al-Andalus as being due to exogenous forces, like the Iberian Christians and Almohads. If Maimonides felt persecuted by the Almohads, why did he take flight with his family to the Almohad heartlands of Fez Morocco and inhabit it for 6 years? It would be the equivalent of Anne Frank's family planning to leave their loft in the Netherlands and go to Berlin Germany in order to escape Nazi persecution. What a puzzle.

When our ancestor Abraham left his home at Ur, Iraq did not exist. This is not a criticism of iraq or Iraqi people, it's just how it is. Actually the region has much history to be proud of having been one of the birthplaces of our modern world.
The Jews were a conquered people for centuries. They adopted much from their conquerers like the Persians, Greeks and Romans as well as Egyptian beliefs. And let's not speak of the Exodus story as fact. It never happened.
@@ruthnoahide9052 The biblical Exodus narrative is best understood as a founding myth of the Jewish people, providing an ideological foundation for their culture and institutions, not an accurate depiction of the history of the Israelites. Not a single shred of archeological evidence exists to even make the story plausible. And Moses is a completely fictional character. That’s not even debatable.
@@ruthnoahide9052 I am educated and free from the burden of just accepting narratives without question. Archeologists and Historians are in agreement that the exodus did not occur. No archeological evidence exists. They aren’t even certain of the location of Mt.Sinai or if it exists at all. There is a big difference between what people want to be true, and what evidence and peer reviewed research shows us. I have spent time looking at all the information from both sides of the fence and comparing them to what the evidence ( as it stands, as more evidence comes to light over time ) shows to be true. And please don’t use “educate yourself” if you aren’t willing to look past your indoctrination into religious belief to test what your being told.
The second half of the documentary is available on UA-cam under the title "PMSDD History Of Judaism Part 2 "
I’m Jewish both Ashkenazi Sephardic and Mizrahi mixture I’m proud of my heritage.

What's with the choppy editing?
A useful introduction however much essential information is missing and some is misunderstood by the narrator.
