  • Pasay is known for big malls, airports and entertainment centers. But there is the lesser known side of Pasay that is rich in heritage, culture and history.
We explored this side, the Old Pasay, and discovered the hidden gems of this so called "travel city".
We started our journey at Pasay Rotonda, the place that has kept is name despite the dis-appearance of the actual rotonda. Pasay Rotanda was but still is the transportation hub of Metro Manila. From there, we travelled by jeepney to Libertad to visit the old market to have breakfast at Elyglofan, a carinderia that has been serving delicious but affordable palabok. From Libertad, we walked to the old city center in P. Burgos and visited the Sta. Clara Church and the old P. Burgos Elementary.
We then walked to Leveriza to visit Cartimar, a shopping center popular for imported goods. It has now expanded to include a vegetable market, coffee shops, Japanese, Korean and Chinese groceries, and anything and everything that one cannot get anywhere else in the Metro.
Afterwards, we went to the Henry Hotel compound and visited the old houses that have been converted into a hotel, a gallery (Avellana) and a designer showroom (Eric Paras).
Our next destination was Asian Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS) and visited its extensive maritime museum, the Museo Maritimo.
Our final stop was the Our Lady of Sorrows Church in F. B. Harrison, where Ninoy and Cory Aquino got married in 1954.

The old city hall is the present day Pasay General Hospital, right besides Sta. Clara church. (According to my sources)
