      jump in whenever you want ! dont need a fancy notebook, if youve got a standard mostly empty spiral bound one, use that to play around with. dont have to wait to start a new month/year... :)

    LOVE that you said contents page! I know it's not that big a deal but it drives me crazy that everyone calls it an index.

      its just in the original system it gets called index. everyone seems to have adopted the leucterm for some reason....i may or may not use that one :P

    [slow turn to the camera]

  • @princesskayla122811

    People call it the index because that is what the creator of the bullet journal, Ryder Carroll, calls it. You do not have to call it that if you do not want to.

    It's an index because you record ALL pages that certain spreads are found on, as in multiples or anything related...which is an index not a table of contents 🙄

    • @Minverna
      @Minverna 8 років тому +1

      Mewesical I would agree, but the contents goes in the front and index in the back so

    • @BrooklynneMichelle
      @BrooklynneMichelle 8 років тому +8

      Indexes can go anywhere they are just typically at the back cause that's where we tend to put references... the difference is that a table of contents lists all the content in order of the book, where as an index typically lists things in order and can reference multiple places within a book for example.. all mention of tomato in a cook book. Reminder this notebook was not designed specifically for bullet journalers it has been adapted, thus using a table of content section for an index instead of scrapping those pages and putting the index in the back. Other bullet journaler's have copied the index at front cause that's what the creator does and he has always used these notebooks....

    • @KatFib
      @KatFib 8 років тому +3

      I don't like the tone of Just Iaura's last sentence but she is right about the differences between "content" and "index".

    • @xStephanieEmmilinex
      @xStephanieEmmilinex 7 років тому +2

      The creator Ryder Carol named it the index so people go with that name...

    Great video thank you - I'm on the other side of the classroom as a teacher but those ideas help nevertheless. PLUS : I use exactly the same key! How cool is that! Cirlcle for events and appointments - because no matter what: someplace I need to go! And I need to colour in boxes to have a visual "proof" of having done something! Crossing out dots would feel too much like "not accomplished" ! Thank You

    I loved this video. I think is one of the best I've seen it about bullet journals... I was just wondering if the time you spend doing this is worthy. I'm afraid, as I don't have enough practice, to spend too much time trying to organize the things I need to do, but not doing them.

    • @janessayuen
      @janessayuen  8 років тому

      Thanks Isabella! That's exactly what I thought, watching everyone else's videos. Tbh mine doesn't have colour, illustrations or excessive boxes/decorative bubbles and frames and whatnot ... Mine is pretty un-cute hahaha :-) my experience with this setup is that in the *balance* (spending time organising vs using time efficiently to complete said organised tasks) is hella worth it :-) pays off sooo much!

      @isabellabatistadesouza6870 8 років тому

      +Jaaananannn yes, I have.
      I wasn't happy with every planer I ever had and then I met a girl in my economics class. I saw her writing in her bullet journal and she told me everything she knew about it. It is such a great idea and you can use your fantasy and creativity to creat your own journal.
      I also have a Leuchtturm in Pink. Soon I will write about it in my blog. When it will be finished I could send you a link if you are interessted. :) (sorry, my english is not the best. :D)

      +LaLeLisa Lu Yeah for sure I'd love to read your blog! I totally get it - predesigned layouts are great and all, but they're never specific to your lifestyle so there are always inconveniences and then you stop trying altogether and end up abandoning it hahah

      @retro527 8 років тому

      Uhm...you do understand the term 'index' isn't wrong either, right? In this case, both 'contents' and 'index' can be used synonymously ;)

    • @littlemiss8867
      @littlemiss8867 8 років тому

      Index - An index is an optional but highly desirable element for non-fiction books. The index is placed at the end of the book, and lists all the major references in the book (such as major topics, mentions of key people in the book, etc.) and their specific, corresponding page numbers. Note that even traditional publishers pass along the cost of hiring an indexer for the book to the author.

    • @retro527
      @retro527 8 років тому

      Little Miss You went a long way to find what is beginning to seem like a narrow, and probably eventually to be an archaic definition of index. Again, neither 'contents' nor 'index' is wrong, but since you're stubborn, this is the most basic definition of an index: an alphabetical list of names, subjects, etc., with references to the places where they occur, typically found at the end of a book.

    • @retro527
      @retro527 8 років тому

      Little Miss So technically, it is a 'darn index' if people choose to refer to it as such.

    why didnt you write the future log ? :)

    • @janessayuen
      @janessayuen  8 років тому +1

      If I need to mark a date that's farther in the future/not in my monthly spread, I put it in the Calendar app on my phone :p I reference Calendar when I'm putting together new monthly spreads (which happens in the last week of each month). And I have sooo many random events that spring up all the time; it gets confusing when I mark new events non-chronologically ... Do I even make sense hahah

    It's called the English section because that's how it was originally named, and index IS in the English section
