Man, it would be so much easier if they didn't feel obligated to focus omnibus on creators instead of runs. Having to excise material because of guest artists/writers just confuses readers or forces us to get other books and jump back and forth between them. So frustrating.
I double-dog, no, triple dog dare anyone to find anyone anywhere who does these types of videos better than Omar. The amount of work and, most importantly, love that he puts into these videos is jawdropping. I'm VERY proud of you my dear friend. #OmarRules #ProveMeWrongIdareYa
Omar, thanks for doing this. I'm probably one of the few who can read Morrison's omnibus volumes straight through without the continuity bothering me just treat it as standalone. However, you have put me on to Streets of Gotham. Dini is awesome and Dick Grayson kicked but in Black Mirror which I'm hoping to collect in Absolute b4 it goes OOP. Oversized when I can, keep up the awesome videos.
Thanks so much, Omar. My head is spinning though from the realization that getting the Dini omni would mean flipping between Batman by Morrison, Final Crisis and the couple of trades/standard hardcovers you had in there. This is definitely a bit daunting but trying my best to fill all the gaps in my collection. It’s a lot and part 4 hasn’t even come out yet lol.
What an effort, thanks Omar! It should not be this damn complicated, man. Most of this era is so nostalgic for me (I don't know how well regarded some runs are but it's probably my favourite period in the DCU?) I wish it was easier to collect in full. Off to hunt down some missing pieces myself.
Years later, after now having read ALL this... I now actually think they did the right thing by collecting the Dini And Morrison material in the exact way they did. It would be great if they did more to collect all the rest in some kind of companion book, like a compendium or another omnibus. But the books as they are published are great reading and tell coherent stories in the best possible order.
Hey Omar! Loving these reading order. I'm a huge batmam collector I was wondering if maybe you could make a writen list of all the books. Including your suggestions that aren't physically in the video. It might be to much to ask but boy would it be helpful 😅
Omar, I don't know if you'll see this, but I'm doing (most of) your reading order. I just got to Morrison 2 and Black Mirror. I think it's a mistake to do Black Mirror before returning to Morrison 2. In Black Mirror's prologue text, it basically lays out what happens in The Return of Bruce Wayne. I checked publication dates, and it looks like Black Mirror was in fact published quite a bit of time after The Return of Bruce Wayne. So I think finishing Morrison 2 before Black Mirror is the way to go.
An idea, comprehensive reading order for green arrow? Or maybe daredevil. Just some ideas but i get it takes a lot of work to make these and i really appreciate the hard work use guys do. Loved the vid, keep safe guys!!!
Thanks omar! Such an in depth reading order as always. I have just purchased the 3 grant Morrison omnis. Looks like I need to spend a load more money on side trades before I start reding them 🤣 I have pre-ordered the dini omni so that's should fill a lot of gaps. Cant wait for part 4!! 😄
Yes the omnis collect all the important stories. Detective comics and other stories from the time are mostly self contained or isolated to their own series. Admittedly there are plenty of good stories not collected in the omnis but unfortunately most are out of print and again they are definitely not necessary.
I just got the first two volumes of Grant Morrison's Omnibus. Can I read those two without stopping to read everything in between (the 3rd volume is currently on order, just waiting for it to arrive)
This part was the most useful for me so far as i haven't even heard of some of the books on this list. I have 4 out of the 24 you listed. Those are grant Morrison volume 1,2 black mirror and flashpoint. I suspect the last part i will have most of them though😁

The reason I’m asking is because I’ve seen some omnibus cheaper on eBay and thinking about starting my collection this way. Thank you for all you do on the channel, I’m kind of new to the channel and it’s awesome.

Thanks a bunch Omar! Also appreciated your answer on my question on Instagram! Absolutely awesome guy who knows his stuff, mad mad respect. I was wondering if Batman Eternal still needs to pop up or is that not mainline?
Okay… can someone help me out? I’ve just started the 2nd volume of Grant Morrisons run and super confused why Dick Grayson is Batman. Is this because of his death in final crisis?
Speaking of Batman, I hope all David Finch and Tony S. Daniel's issues that they wrote and/or illustrated get printed into an omnibus. The sooner the better!!
Thanks Omar. Btw I think all of Hush money is in the Dini omni so you can get rid of the trade 😀. Need a few to fill in the gaps. That resurrection of ra’s al Gul is OOP. I’d add Tomasi’s Batman and Robin to the reading order but you might include that in part four.
Great video Omar. I am going to buy the Paul Dini omnibus, do you reconmend it? Would I feel lost with all the issues that DC skipped in streets of Gotham and detective comics? Thank you!

Recall thinking when I read it in floppies, I hope Bruce stays dead a long time. Was a bit disappointed when he returned so dang fast. Anyways. Here's my question: does this reading order account for every of appearance of Grayson as Batman?
I have never read Hush but was thinking of getting Paul Dini omnibus. Does it contain Hush? If not what's the best way to collect it and does everything in that new omnibus follow on from Hush?

Oh it's been a while since I've read this graphic novel but it makes sense that all of Batman's allies would want to face off for the title; although, I always saw it as more of a 'birthright' for Bruce's 4 sons to have deliberate on their own. Technically Cassandra Cain could partake as well since she is Bruce's legally adopted daughter but it just seemed like more of a son's issue. I'm glad about the writer's final decision but really think it would have been interesting if the 3rd Robin (Tim Drake) took over the cowl. He always seemed to be the most level-headed of the bunch if not a little neurotic but an Elseworld story where this happens would be quite interesting. Heck, DC could age up all the characters and do a 'What if' series where we see how Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damien Wayne & even Cassandra Cain, Carie Kelley, & Stephanie Brown would handle the responsibility of Batman. It would lead to some interesting dynamics between characters and could show how differently each past Robin or Child of Bruce would manage the responsibility of protecting Gotham.
Is there any Grant Morrison run in paperback and also what is the specific title I know it's Batman but like is there like a subtitle is what I'm asking
Literally just bought The Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul HC today on ebay. It sucks that it isn't oversized and that it's not included in any of the omnis, but it could be worse I guess 🤷🏻♂️ Great vid as always brother. I can't imagine the amount of work you need to put in to make these. It's very appreciated!
Thank you for another great and helpful video Omar. I have one question though. I have the 3 Morrison omniboo and am planning on getting the Paul Dini omnibus. What order should I read these omniboo if I don’t want to skip back and forth too much?
Still appreciating the heck out of this reading order. One of the main runs I'd like to complete. I have to ask, lol, do you check to make sure you have all the books first before committing? Have you ever committed to doing a reading order and then discover that you're missing a few?
Great videos, man. Keep it up!!! Did I hear you correctly? I should read the Snyder New 52 run between Under the Red Hood/War Crimes and Face the Face? Because I was under the impression that the reboot came after the Morrison stuff with The Black Mirror sort of being a prelude to Snyder’s New 52 run. I’m currently reading Hush Returns on my 1st journey through the “complete” timeline. Thanks in advance.
At Batman #658 do i have to stop and read The Resurrection of Ras al ghul? Or do i have to stop reading at #669? Because the resurrection of ras al ghul starts at #670. I am confused.
Omar, concerning the Dini Omnibus, I have Detective, Death and The City, Private Casebook, Heart of Hush, Hush Money, Leviathan, and House of Hush in tpb/hc. Which books would it be okay to let go, and which books would you recommend keeping?
I started reading Batman with Scott Snyder’s Omnibus vol. 1 and I loved it (is the Batman after the new 52 revamp, circa 2011). Unless you really want to know about every little detail of Batman canon, you’ll be alright. The Snyder/Capullo run is amazing.
Shouldn't you read Streets of Gotham Leviathan, Life after Death, The Return of Bruce Wayne and Bruce Wayne the Road Home before you read Batman & Robin Must Die? And read The House of Hush after you have read Batman & Robin Must Die? (Seens Bruce is back in House of Hush)
@@NearMintCondition Okay. I read through the whole "Dick Grayson Batman era" (Batgirl, Red Robin, Gotham City Sirens, Streets of Gotham,Batman, Batman & Robin, Batman Incorporated. Batman Gates of Gotham and Detective Comics) and that is just how I read it, felt more like a build up to Bruce's return
New to comics & maybe I missed something in the video but can someone tell me why he keeps talking about keeping his hard covers? Why wouldn’t you keep them
I thought Black Mirror happened after Bruce Wayne came back. I also just read Batman Inc as one story, or one part of Grant Morrison's run, since Grant Morrison was pissed off with Flashpoint and didn't want to deal with that or have it mess up what he intended for his run.
Hey Omar; one book you mentioned "Hush Money", is all in the upcoming Dini Omnibus. Every issue. Also, you ragged on the Omnibus a lot. I honestly don't know why, considering that it is, for the most part, complete. Yes, I know it skips the Dini issues, but that is, understandably, not part of his main run so I get why they skipped it. Just being honest on my part, sir. Also: Batman The Black Mirror takes place AFTER Morrison Omnibus Vol. 2 and during Omnibus Vol. 3, since it was during the Batman Inc. days.
Hmmm if it means anything I’m still getting the Dini omnibus. However it’s missing the non Dini issues. I may still be bitter about the Hush Omnibus they canceled. :) hmmm I still think Black Mirror reads better before Flashpoint.
@@NearMintCondition It's okay, but that bitterness comes out in your voice/words: at least for me. And I guess when I meant during Omnibus Vol. 3, I meant during the initial 8-issue run of Batman INC before "Flashpoint."
Great reading order, but *SPOILER ALERT* Streets of Gotham: House of Hush and Batman Eye of the Beholder should be read after return of Bruce Wayne. So you can read whole Batman by Grant Morrison vol 2 omnibus :)
Grant Morrison was awesome on batman and it made other titles better like detective comics cause dick as batman and then we also got Scott synder Frist batman and it was great. I really like dick as batman And the black globe story so good. I think grant did great considering he had to change his plans cause he had a idea for the new god's.
Ok i absolutely adore your videos but i d find the constant spoiler warnings a bit intrusive.... Do you think it might be easier to just have a spoiler warning at the beginning of the video with a list of all the comics you might spoil instead ? Just a lil bit of constructive criticism is all.

Not in my order.
This ma n never disappoints!!!
Damn, I count 88 books so far across the 3 videos and i only have 30 😢
New to comics & maybe I missed something in the video but can someone tell me why he keeps talking about keeping his hard covers? Why wouldn’t you keep them
Double dipping usually. Same content found in a bigger format.
is a superman one expected down the line? Love your work Omar!!!! Collected edition king!
Oh yeah, but I have to take a break from LOOONG reading orders for a couple of months. ;)
@@NearMintCondition haha that's fair
Welp guess I'm getting Batman by Paul Dini instead of Absolute Dark Knight this month.
I have the Final Crisis TPB. Should I get the omnibus?
You don't need to
I thought Black Mirror happened after Bruce Wayne came back.
I also just read Batman Inc as one story, or one part of Grant Morrison's run, since Grant Morrison was pissed off with Flashpoint and didn't want to deal with that or have it mess up what he intended for his run.
It happened after incorporated black mirror is actually the last Batman story pre flashpoint

My head is spinning watching this
Hey Omar; one book you mentioned "Hush Money", is all in the upcoming Dini Omnibus.
Sicc video😊
Great reading order, but *SPOILER ALERT* Streets of Gotham: House of Hush and Batman Eye of the Beholder should be read after return of Bruce Wayne. So you can read whole Batman by Grant Morrison vol 2 omnibus :)
I did make a note of that on the written documentation:)
Grant Morrison was awesome on batman and it made other titles better like detective comics cause dick as batman and then we also got Scott synder Frist batman and it was great. I really like dick as batman
And the black globe story so good. I think grant did great considering he had to change his plans cause he had a idea for the new god's.
Cowabunga minties 🤙
Thank you, brother.
❤️
wow those streets of gotham go for a lot of money
Ok i absolutely adore your videos but i d find the constant spoiler warnings a bit intrusive....
Do you think it might be easier to just have a spoiler warning at the beginning of the video with a list of all the comics you might spoil instead ?
Just a lil bit of constructive criticism is all.
Hey I like that! Seriously! I always take criticism! How else can I improve? Thank you so much.
I really want a Batman by Paul Dini Omnibus, but not THAT Batman by Paul Dini Omnibus
I miss the pre New 52 days, everything seemed simpler.
I do too.
Hey Omar
Does it require to read detective comics run with the batman run ??!
And I have many &many doubt s to ask
Strongly suggest it. But not 100% necessary.
