Still can’t believe one of DCs flagship characters doesn’t seem to get enough love with the omni treatment. Pretty sure most of them would sell out instantly, hope the reprint of death and return will wake them up a bit with the sales being good. 👌🏻
Superman from 1986 and into the late 80s and through the triangle era is just good stuff.
What is triangle era
@@quasiKB In the early 1990s and into the 2000s Superman stories were being told and spread over 4 monthly comic books: Action Comics, Man of steel, Superman, and adventures of superman. On the cover was a upside triangle with a number telling you which order to read the the four monthly books.
I think it's kinda crazy how Action Comics 662, the issue where Clark finally reveals that he's Superman to Lois, isn't collected in anything besides those character anniversary collections (like the Action Comics 80 Years collection that has stories from all over the place).
I bought the singles. They're bagged and boarded and in a folder on my shelf.
Hopefully it actually gets collected soon either in an omni or those man of steel books theyve been doing
Dude I feel like nobody else on the internet has put as much work into these reading orders.. I appreciate the hard work. Last year I found a copy of absolute infinite earths at a book store and read it. Wanted to know where to go from there so I read the first three man of steel books and waiting on #4 to come in the mail, along with exile. And then on to the "death" Superman is my favorite character and I've always wanted to read the older stuff. Anyway I refer to your videos often. Thanks
I appreciate you taking them time to watch them and leave these kind words. Seriously, thank you.
@@NearMintCondition my pleasure.
@@xtruthx so where should i start reading superman im currently reading batman and spiderman and daredevil but with superman idk
@@MyBitch925 If you like modern superman, start at "new 52" or "rebirth" those are two really good places to start. If you want to go way back and read some 80's superman then start at "man of steel" (it's kinda cheesy, but it's 80's comics) then through superman "exile"(superman leaves earth for awhile and travels to other planets) after that you move into "death of superman" and just on through there. I personally began with Superman "rebirth" and loved it. It does a really good job of building the character and describing his personality. You can Google these terms, like new 52, rebirth, exile starting point.. and the internet will tell you where to go. Also DC unlimited the app saved my life, because tracking these things down is expensive 🫰
@@MyBitch925 if You want to start reading all the brand new stuff, then DC just launched "Dawn of DC" pick up superman #1 you can still find it at comic stores. I just read issue number one and two and it's pretty good
2:07 Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
4:47 Superman: The Man of Steel Vol.1
7:23 Superman: The Man of Steel Vol.2
8:50 Superman: The Man of Steel Vol.3
11:29 Superman: The Man of Steel Vol.4
13:38 Superman: Exile and Other Stories Omnibus
16:42 Superman: Eradication!
18:14 Superman: Dark Knight over Metropolis
19:04 Superman: Krisis of the Krimson Kryptonite
20:01 Superman: Time and Time Again
21:13 Superman: They Saved Luthor's Brain
22:25 Superman: Panic in the Sky
25:03 Death and Return of Superman Omnibus
I appreciate this thank you !
DC , lifsten to Uncle Omar's advice on mapping and what to print. This is Superman. This is what started the whole shebang in Action Comics #1. Respect your history, respect your legacy. And heck I'll say it, I have no problems with it, "Truth, Justice and the American way"!
Finally, was losing a bit of faith we weren't getting it this week. How many parts?
Thank you Omar for making quality and useful content. Up up and away super Omar.🙂
Can’t wait until Man Of Steel Vol 4 HC. Hopefully it actually comes out March 1st tho…
Will be the vol 5 in the future ?
When you say volume 4 or 5, etc, is each volume a separate graphic novel?
Would love to have an Action Comics Weekly Omni, pretty sweet that you've got those collected for yourself. Great video!
post crisis all the way up to 2011, wow, Superman rocked!!
I’m so glad this won!
Superman exile omnibus has been on my wishlist for a while. Eventually ill pull the trigger and buy it
HELL YES! Oh my god I’ve waited for so goddam long, heck yes
Hey just a heads up, they did reprint the Action Comics weekly two pagers. It is in a collection called, Superman The Power Within.
Thank you so much.
I love you so much, thanks
Anyone even moderately interested in Superman should read the Byrne run
DC Fans: "Man, Superman has such a rich history and exciting story arcs. Be great if they reprinted these of collected them into omni's, they definitely sell well."
DC: "No."
Damn didn’t know that about Action Comics. Good to know I can just skip to Exiles Omnibus for the most part, although it’d be nice to have the 2-page stories somewhere down the line
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! Been waiting a long time for this!
I'm going crazy here. Been wanting this reading order foreverrrrr
Thanks, Uncanny Omar!
There are still a couple trades that collect World of Krypton. Superman: The World of Krypton and Superman: The Many Worlds of Krypton
This is great, thank you! If they threw the World of Krypton, Metropolis, Smallville minis together in a deluxe edition I’d definitely buy it. Give it the title: Man of Steel Companion.
This video brings back great memories! Thanks. You weren't kidding about DC's release of Superman material post Death and Return. The Wedding recently got a Deluxe. Not much else until the Jeph Loeb era.
Hey man, your videos are absolutely awesome! I love learning about the reading order of comic book characters and once read all of the individual issues of the Superman omnibus's you are showcasing here about 20 years ago. You sir are dead on with this video! I can't wait to watch your other ones!! Thankyou for these
Thank you so much for the kind words
@@NearMintConditionis there a certain way that i need to open a omnibus i just got my man of steel by john byrne but I dont wanna ruin anything so im not sure hope you can respond tho
Note the first: The Superman Action Comics Weekly Stories are collected in Superman: The Power Within TPB
Superman needs a better Treatment from DC ! So many are unpublished !
Thank you
Thank you for the video. Really hope DC does more Superman omnis in the near future
You are the fucking man dude. Keep the vids coming it's really helping me plan out my collection!
I’m having more fun watching the old video games ads in the custom omnibus, good old memories 😂🤣
I’m so pumped that you’re doing this.
I finally completed this section of my collection this past Christmas. It's the next video's content I'm about to start. Glad to see my research didn't fail me.
I really hope with zazlav, Gunn and Safran in Warner Brothers now we'll get more omnibus out, I know it's an entirely different department, but you'd think it'd be great marketing for the movies
Once again, it must be said that we need a Matrix Supergirl omnis by Peter David.
Some great related news: a new batch of Byrne's hardcover vol 1 just went on sale. No need to pay 100+ on ebay, and the other volumes are still in stock for now.
Just ordered a bunch of tpbs yesterday. Let’s do this.
I hope Man of Steel gets an Omnibus, maybe they’ll release one close to Superman Legacy in 2025
I'm so glad you finally made this video, I was waiting it for so long 🤩
omg, beautiful collection
We need to get this man a Man of Steel omnibus.🙂 Didn't realise how little Superman is collected compared to say Batman. Its a Sin really.
Always enjoyed the whatever happened to the Caped Crusader which was one of my favourite reads of 2021. Is the Superman one similar?
They need to a Kyle Rayner omni that starts with Emerald twilight and the destruction of coast city...maybe even some late Hal stuff.
Finally. Been waiting for this one forver
Omar, has Action #662 ever been collected at all? That’s the issue where Clark reveals his secret to Lois.
The madman has finally done it. Thank you Omar.
Great review as always and nice custom binds! Just an FYI the World of Krypton (AFAIK) has only been collected in a DC Universe by Mike Mignola HC past few years. It has all 4 issues but maddeningly none of the covers were included (which i guess makes sense if not done by MM) but would have been nice.
Just got done with Byrne hard covers and exile omnibus and man I want to keep going after that cliff hanger but I’ll be patient and wait for bigger hardcovers or omnis hopefully don’t have to wait to many years to keep reading
Thanks for posting this brother!
I wish dc would collect the byrne and triangle era stuff into omnibus editions.
How come you didn't include Superman by George Perez? It has a decent selection after the Exile omnibus.
I can wait for Superman,The Man of Steel Volume 4 HC,who will be shipped March 1st of this year, also excellent video, and The Superman reading Order part 1 video is great. Also thank you for posting this Video. 👌 up the 👍 work, stay safe stay healthy much love and have a superb Friday.☺☺😎☺💪👍👊💪
One other Superman omnis we need: Dan Jurgens Rebirth
Hi Omar, I’m so excited for this, I wish DC would fill the gaps tho!! Thanks so much my brother
omg finally!!! thank you so much!! I've been waiting for this for years!
These are my favourite videos, thankyou for the amount of detail you put into them
Need a combined reading order of all reading orders you done so far 🙏
I would absolutely love if they did some triangle era omnibuses. Favorite era for the character.
Same.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
What colour do you think the next man of steel hard cover spine will be?
Seems silly not to alternate the blue/red, unless they bookend it blue.
I hope blue.
Thank you Omar! I voted for this the last 2 times, so glad it won this time! This is my favorite era of Superman! I used to have all the singles but sold them awhile back. Keep hoping DC will collect it but I am losing faith in that. Seeing the custom omnis has gotten me thinking of going that route!
I’d love to see a Road to Rebirth deluxe (omnibus) with Lois and Clark, The Final Days of Superman, and also that Teen Titans story. That was also great. All of them are great stories and blend so well into the awesome Rebirth era.
How much does re binding a book cost
I’ll be looking for some of these comics
I have no interest in reading superman but I still find those fun to watch.
where would we buy the Kirk Kiefer volumes 1-8? or are those custom built for you by Kirk? Is there a book that has the complete stories of superman from birth to death/return?
Is it okay to read the Byrne books (I already have 1) then jump to The Death and Return of Superman? I mostly buy Marvel Epics and I'm starting to buy TMNT books, so I'm not trying to spend too much money for Supes.
The death and return of Superman doesn't require pre- knowledge of what happened between Byrne's run and it. If you read the issues in between you'll get more out of the experience but it's not essential. On the other hand in my opinion the superman titles got even better when Byrne left. The exile omnibus is a fantastic read. Wish they'd collect the issues after it in some format.
World of Metropolis and World of Smallville were collected in the DC Universe by John Byrne hardcover. World of Krypton was collected in trade paperback.
Armageddon 2001 had some pretty good stories.
The most important question is will Omar end up getting the new printing of death/return of Superman?
Could you do a darkseid reading order
I hope one day DC reprints the Death and Return of Superman omnibus but this time including the story collected in the Superman Doomsday tpb, I don't know why they didn't include it in this omni.
Thank you thank you Omar!! Supes is my favorite DC hero! I have been waiting on this for ages
This is exactly what I was looking for with my renewed interest in Superman.
Moore's comics is definitely a BAD recommend, massively out of character treatment of original Kal-El. Literally by the fact alone that this comic has Metallo II esque enemies therefore Metallo I happened who died literally under similar circumstances Mr Mxyzptlk did in this imaginary story and yet despite *having* superman robots to back him up, for "some reason" Superman didn't just depower himself and leave Earth unprotected to become Stan Lee and have a family.
It is same as Robin standing in the North Pole snow in his briefs, even though Batman's winter suits were always a thing, which also inspired "even" Nite Owl II winter suit.
Moore comics is dawn of weirdo takes on these characters suddenly they started become less and less rational and more like out of context ideals. At least Frank Miller took the both parts of it , the sincerety and insanity together , though his take wasn't any less weird as well, but nothing like Moore and then Waid and the Millar with Morrison and then Busiek and then Winnick and then Johns. And recently Bendis followed by Johnson.
Do you think Dc will continue with the ohc’s ?
Thank you Omar for all your hard work with these reading orders
LETS GOO!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE AND OMAR.
We have a lot in common, I'm a Liverpool and DC fan like you
I'm two years late for this video, but the first three volumes of Man of Steel are still easy to get at a great price, and Volume Four costs a mint to get. I don't know if they just didn't print many of them or what caused that.
Wait, is there a reason you're starting with 1986? I just clicked on the video and the question dawned on me. I'm doing a personal creative writing project that requires me to look at most if not ALL of Superman's history, so I'm curious as to why you started in the Bronze Age era.
Thanks for these videos. I can't afford the nice book sets, but Kindle keeps these sometimes as low as 1.99 a volume(not omnibus, those are much more, but cheaper than hard copy). So I can know what to buy first by watching these videos.
Just catching up with this awesome reading order now that I picked up the four Byrne hardcovers--love the format! Now can you get DC to do a fifth volume with the "World of.." series and those missing 2-pagers? Thanks!
Hello, amazing video. Could you please go into how one goes about making a custom-bound Superman omnibus? How did you do this, if I may kindly ask? And could this be available for purchase by anyone else? Thank you!
Fantastic video. It's insane that collecting one of DC's biggest characters is so difficult. Can't wait to see part 2 to find out just how many books i'm missing. Thank you Omar.
Awesome!! Been waiting a long time for this one :D
On another note, a Savage Sword of Conan Omnibus Volume 1 sold on ebay recently for over $600!! Please let David and the folks at Marvel know there is a desperate need for a reprint on that :)
Ah, yes! Been waiting on this reading order. DC needs to give Superman his respect. All these great stories, and hardly any Omnis.
Man I still appreciate these videos. Thanks brotha even your old videos are rewatchable and informative!
I am thinking getting my single issues bound. I have the 4 volumes of man of steel and the Exile collection. What advice do people have about getting these comics bound?
I don't get it, in the thumbnail you've got like a collection of Superman omnibuses with a drawing of superman, how are they called and where can I get theme?
The triangle era omnibus is out! May you do a video about that? Thanks for your awesome work!
holy crud I've been waiting for this forever
I wanted your oponion why they are only issuing trade paperbacks for superman instead of the normal hardcover
Now this is the content that we need SUPES reading order
Whatever happened to the Man of Tomorrow was about Earth 1 Superman Bronze age
Can you make the Avengers reading order? 😊
Would you ever do superman, batman, golden age (earth 2) reading order?
That is a great memory trip too comics I read in my youth. Love that era. :)
YESSS !!!
Soooo I have like 7 trades heading my way now and some of them are ancient (early 90's printings). Thanks so much for this, DC really needs to get the ball rolling with their classic Superman content (excluding Golden Age). Maybe one day you'll have a top 10 of your favorite Superman stories? Looking forward to part 2!
You are very welcome brother.
Which is the best Superman origin story? I know Geoff Johns did one, Mark Waid etc etc. But I don’t know which one to pick up. Anyone?
My personal favorite is Byrne's.
How do you go about getting custom Omni’s?
Curious: did you ever make your own customs? Not by a company or something, but yourself, with needle and thread, glue, chipboard and what have you?
FINALLY!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH OMAR!
Thank You for doing the overview
