Reminds me of Kickabout League tournament with the qualifier match set at 3 am... despite Jagex "teaming up people from the similar timezones." Needless to say, I never played that match and was disqualified from the tournament.
Since playing leagues in OSRS, I've been wanting a RS3 leagues variant so badly. Not only does Runescape support seasonal gameplay (as many players come and go throughout the year), but players love watching "from scratch" series (just look at TheRSGuy's from scratch challenges). Really hoping for that type of content to come to RS3 at some point. In the meantime, I break from RS3 to do Leagues because it's just a lot of fun.

The player base promptly begin to scream, cry, and throw a hissyfit (like always) and say they want the old combat back and they've always loved it.

@@skimrizzle9598 1. It's spelled "git gud". 2. How does it feel to know you'll never breed or know love but that you get to play a game mode that's infested with bots.
I feel RS has quite a classical problem in the game development landscape, it seems that new content being put into production follows a cycle of creative and technical work which is very solid. The visual designs of new areas and bosses for example are beautiful and the core interactions work pretty great as well (pathing, object collision and interfaces) and you can clearly see the technical expertise of the mods presenting to the community. However what most developers find difficult is to polish the experience beyond the scope of the implementation so this is where QA comes in. I have a really strong feeling most issues are either created by the engine limitations and scaling thereof (actually putting hundreds of player in the same render distance for example) as well as an incremental cycle of QA feedback. I can imagine, since the main focus seems to be carried by highly technical staff, the QA and Dev teams are running into a problem of output validation. This means that, over time, the QA team has adapted to certain process requirements initially set by the Dev team when it comes to ticketing to communicate bugs or extension/polishing of features in an incremental and probably Agile way which has 2 fundamental flaws: 1. If you QA the implementation on a per-ticket basis incrementally over multiple releases you might miss newly introduced interactions with said implementation as the acceptance criteria don't account for them. 2. Incrementally evaluating tickets delivered might introduce behavior which has previously been accepted to fail the acceptance criteria which will go unnoticed. This is why I personally feel the core of new releases is pretty solid while sometimes obvious issues are missed after an update is launched, for example: during the Croesus release the main mechanics worked quite good and the boss fight itself was pretty stable even for public lobbies (scale). But for some reason the broadcasting of unique drops slipped through the cracks while I can't imagine that this wasn't included in the default process briefing of creating a new boss or that everyone in the QA team missed this (unless this is an active choice to counter the estimation of drop rates for the new GW3 bosses based on adventurers logs since, for some reason, they remain quite secretive about). This leads to another process oversight: testing scale and over-time interactions, in order for a QA professional to detect the issue with drops not getting announced one must actually receive a drop during testing. Which might be cost inefficient assuming they don't have the ability to manipulate the drop chances from a console. What I think Jagex does really good however is that they don't tend to be hyper reactive to issues found once they are put into production unless they are game breaking, which means the updates and patches rarely feel clunky or hasty which might lead to a lot of other issues down the road, especially when the community feels like they're running around like headless chickens.
Man I was there for the event it was crazy there was only a few people left when i was there and then a big guy spawned and killed me instant.. really unfair I believe i could've went alot longer
Rebrand? It's always been the official Runescape. Just like it's Runescape on Reddit not Runescape 3. Who is "we"? You mean all the toxic salty osrs players?
Thanks for the question. By "we" I mean the entire community of players of both games, former players and people who never played but watch vids. Also, not that it matters but I play rs3 and not osrs.
One thing I've consistently noted as an outsider just starting to get into OSRS...is that the company sure does like to lie to ppl about stuff and show their egos.
the community deserves it the gaem deserves it but the company does not which is unfortunate for the players and the game that is still alive after 20 years
as a new player to osrs, i love the main game, but DMM and this rs3 tournament make me want to never be involved in any "temp game mode" ever due to it being a complete waste of my time not just in general anyways due to the fact its a temp mode, but also dont seem worth it
You could have paid me a six figure salary, given me a year to plan and I wouldn't have been able to intentionally fuck up an event as hard as this one was by accident. I actually have no idea how a team fucks up this bad
I find it curious that Jagex at times has some really interested ideas...if only they were refined a bit more, give more development time, or adjusted in a few days - only to have major issues occur, then leading to them scrapping and burying the whole thing. It kinda feels like a waste. Especially as players are pretty good at giving input on adjustments that get things to where they ought to be, so content/things are working as intended. It just feels like an odd bit of back-and-forth shuffling when there would be quite an easy way to avoid it all together. I mean - How come it's so difficult to just open reddit (or whatever form of accepting input would be the best), click on a thread, and start looking at the common critiques for a piece of content being offered, and then using this information to get things sorted? It almost feels like the idea in all its simplicity is deemed too smart, and there is some sort of odd block on just going with the path of the least resistance that would get the best results.
Players never have any idea what they want whatsoever, they just like to scream and cry about everything. Like when Jagex releases a poll about combat, the playerbase says combat is boring and needs to be updated. Jagex releases EoC and the playerbase scream and cry while saying they loved the old combat and they didn't want it changed.
@@A_Black_Sheep94 I think in a very recent stream some Mods said that they are in a bit of an odd spot with RuneScape. To quote them: the player base hates change, yet's it's paradoxically the most updated and change prone MMORPG on the market.

Make a video about Anachronia Island , that Jagex took Sons of Anarchy characters and named the Zygomites by them, FX Network characters mostly.
ahhh good times :')
i remember Rainy and i went to the Jolly Boar inn and the examine on the stairs was like "its not safe to go up because of the zombie hoards"
and we were like ahh yes of course, zombies are able to get upstairs but not fall back down them? and with impeccable timing one of those big boy zombies then spawned right beside us xD
Wow this event honestly looks like it'd be really fun.
You show me this and I can only vaguely remember that gamemode/tournament/whatever. Don't think I even bothered with it.
Yeah, same. A viewer requested this video a few weeks ago. Until then, I had completely forgot about this :P
Yeah... the competition was such a buzzkill, being one of the qualifiers i was so let down to be instakilled by a stack of miasma instantaneously. I think they should have tried to run it back or at least try again instead of having it a pvm survival gamemode.
I can't imagine how frustrating that must've been at the time. All that work, hype and waiting... Only to die straight away.
get good
osrs gang made this post
@@skimrizzle9598 1. It's spelled "git gud". 2. How does it feel to know you'll never breed or know love but that you get to play a game mode that's infested with bots.
@@A_Black_Sheep94 i literally just made big diarrhea on your comment LMAO
@@skimrizzle9598 Jokes on you, I ate it looking you dead in your eye. *unzips pants.
I thought this was going to be about darkscape, I had never heard of this event.
This means that, over time, the QA team has adapted to certain process requirements initially set by the Dev team when it comes to ticketing to communicate bugs or extension/polishing of features in an incremental and probably Agile way which has 2 fundamental flaws:
6:42 How would you get 99 in every skill when you only have an hour?
In this game mode, everyone started out fully maxed.
Awesome video! Only downside is how many times we have to hear you say ‘Finale’
26 times lol
Lmao can just imagine the Jagex staff shouting ‘’cut the stream!!’’ Then wiping their hard drives and moving offices
disaster having disaster inside the disaster is always nice to see. I love it when disaster have disasters 👍🏼
Video won't load. :(
Wow, I’ve never heard of this ESport event
Each one of these has been an issue, especially this last tourney. Jagex should really figure this stuff out
Man I was there for the event it was crazy there was only a few people left when i was there and then a big guy spawned and killed me instant.. really unfair I believe i could've went alot longer
I love how jagex has been making an effort to rebrand RS3 as RuneScape for years now but we just refuse to obey.
@@erefront 2012 era with pvp worlds was the best pre eoc timeline imo. Oldschool RS nowadays is far from Oldschool lol
@@unrealmagic6519 the hell you talking about all of the rs3 content creators call it rs3 lmao
One thing I've consistently noted as an outsider just starting to get into OSRS...is that the company sure does like to lie to ppl about stuff and show their egos.
I can even agree with you. have you been to skilling boss yet will miss it?
Killing it at the moment! Seems alright, though a little repetitive :P
the community deserves it the gaem deserves it but the company does not which is unfortunate for the players and the game that is still alive after 20 years
If I didn't get hacked and lost over 400m I'd still play today, I kind of miss playing Runescape.
Love the effort you make for each video :)
Only the best for you!
looking for jagex to add skill for skillers level 1 bladed dive called bladed hop and mini surge
Liked as soon as I heard kerapac's theme music! That stuff is dope ^^
2:53 seems like every MMO ever.
as a new player to osrs, i love the main game, but DMM and this rs3 tournament make me want to never be involved in any "temp game mode" ever due to it being a complete waste of my time not just in general anyways due to the fact its a temp mode, but also dont seem worth it
The amount of incompetence surrounding this event is staggering
Great vid, thanks for keeping us informed
Even the ad is terrific, lol!
The event was a mess but I was still happy to finish top 50 I wish they made a new reward for top 50 since they just gave Shaun to everyone
I had no idea this even happened
Turns out "the damned" wasn't about the zombies
Didnt even know this was a thing, like Darkscape? I remember it but it like disappeared? It's like did it even really happen? I remember playing it. I remember running to the GE at the lumbridge training area. But after that it's a blank memory
I miss darkscape..
This ad was something else.. LOL
I was in the final and instantly died to the fog south of falador lol
Fucking love the use of Kerapac music for the first bit
