I just picked up a Runner about two weeks ago myself, Im loving it so far! I would highly recommend putting a comfortable cruiser style seat on it to soothe the bumps, and ease your hindquarters. Channel looks great so far, ya got another subscriber! Happy riding!
Hello SurvivalJoe, You couldn't be more correct. I made some mods on my bike and will be sharing them very soon. Thank you for the positivity. And of course happy riding to you as well!
What you said at 3:00 is very well said. I feel a lot of customers complain but they made something better or cheaper or wtv. But that's with every product and it's a natural evolution.
You have a pretty big following for this one product. Curious what you've been up to in recent times with your ride. Sweet looking. Looking forward to any new videos you may have about your day to day experience with the bike.
Great video! Keep the good stuff coming. I'm still going to hold onto my original runner with all my mods but if I ever get a 2nd this might be it. : )
Good video! It would be interesting to see your perspective/a review of the RadRunner (almost a year later) and whether it's worth to put down an extra $260 for the 7 gears and front suspension for the Plus?
I personally prefer only having a single speed especially because it's and ebike and you can use pedal assist instead of gearing and it's just one less thing to worry about. also I'm sure there's plenty of even better suspension forks then on the roadrunner for under $260
The new version also includes the passenger seat package. Little weight added, but perhaps the 10lb comes from there too. The green of your original looks awesome. New/current one isn't available in green unfortunately.
Look at it this way enjoy the bike you have and when your ready to buy again say 2 years? Then the Plus will have upgraded to plus-Plus. Perhaps even a suspension fork. You should note that the front fork you have is steel. Because of this you can put a front motor and not worry that the front fork will crack. This will help uphill climbs. As to suspension looks like the seat can upgrade to suspension seat post and buy a new seat to put on it. You mentioned getting a seat post so that would kill three birds with one stone; seat post-seat-suspension! Ride rad my friend nice vids good presentation.
Great feedback Daniel, thank you. I've never considered a motor on the front. I'm intrigued now. More to research and learn about. Thanks again for the suggestion.
great review I just bought the rad runner but was thinking maybe I should have waited for the radrunner plus. But you're right I already own a mountain bike with lots of gears I never use that's far too heavy for just commuting. Lots of helpful points here for the new owner. I got the black colour but the green looks great. A quick release rear basket that fits over the passenger package would turn these bikes into delivery bikes( and solve your pannier issues), the next time you talk to the people in rad bikes maybe pitch it as the dadrunner plus.
With the stimulus money we're getting I was going to purchase the radrunner 1, and I think I still will. Having multiple gears is nice, but as far as maintenance is concerned, simpler is better. The suspension also would be nice, but I see myself only primarily riding on the road. So, overall I think the bike you bought is still the better deal.
Simple logic, yeah... more moving pieces = more chance for failures. The frame itself is built like a tank..but you basically pay 200$ more (if we don't count fenders, passager package, ect.) in the Runnerplus for a lot of new pieces... probably not of very good quality then.
im looking at buying rad mini and saw this i didn't know they did a radrunner plus i was wondering if it maybe just america/canada and all of us in rainy old manchester in england miss out i will have to wait and see ps great video well made i liked subscribed and hit the bell icon let us know how your radrunner exploits pan out and good luck with your channel
Thanks for the video..🤗 just bought my RadRunner yesterday...I have a question, you said you were 5’3’’..I’m 5’1’..am I going to be able to touch the ground without having to tip my bike to the side? Thanks in advance for answering..appreciate it..❤️🇨🇦
PLus I want to ask.... can you remove the rear seat to insert a large rear basket on the back, and vice versa with removing the basket for the rear seat? Because now I’m considering getting this RadRunner Plus.
Hello Thomas, thank you for both of your comments. After your original posted comment I went back to Rad's website "radpowerbikes.com" to take a look at the RadRunner Plus color options. I don't see any color options other than the silver at this time. I do see a reference at the bottom of the page for the original RadRunner and it is shown in the green, so possibly this added to some confusion? I do agree with you that the search for the right ebike can be maddening. As for your second posted comment, I just made a short video for you of a customization I did to my RadRunner and will be posting it very soon. Hope it helps give you some more information to assist with your future purchase. Thanks again and happy riding!
Same lame 3 inch tires. Rambo rooster has 4 inch and is basically the same bike without the forks. Gearing is OK but if you like trails they get torn up. Rooster is simple one speed..press button..go faster to legal limit. Am I missing something ?
I appreciate this video. It's timely for me. I've been looking at the radrunner for a while and now am a bit torn. I heard that the 1 was a bit of a bumpy ride, so suspension is a nice option. I'd like to commute to work, take my kiddo around town, and do errands. I live in a small mountain town so I like the gears, but really want the front rack and like the green color the best. So truthfully, I probably want the original, but am worried that I'm missing something key. You seem to be really happy with yours. Do you have problems getting up and around hills in Seattle?
Hello Tanner, Thank you for the positive comment and your question. In an attempt to help answer your question, I made a video today for you. I live on the top of a massive hill and shot the video (between rain showers) of my ride down the hill and back up again. From the bottom of the hill up is 1 mile in length and 361ft of elevation. Unfortunately when I got home to download the video, it was very poor in quality and began to pour down rain. I hope to try again tomorrow and post it as soon as the rain lets off. As for the ride quality... I would say it is a little stiff but nothing in my opinion to stop you and your kiddo from enjoying the run around town! As I mentioned in my second video to Rad Power Bikes, if they make a front suspension for the RadRunner I will buy it. Not because the ride is unbearable but because a softer ride is always preferred. Next the "Front Rack" is an option on both RadRunner and RadRunner Plus, so either way you win there. As for the color I do like the army green on my bike and would recommend it to anyone. You have good taste my friend. Hope this helps and as stated above, I will make another hill climb attempt as soon as I can. Keep checking back and click the likes, my two boys are getting a kick out of people liking their Dads videos. Thanks again and happy riding!
About 3 - 4 months after the RadRunner came out, I asked about the bike in a Rad Bikes owner group on Facebook, and a couple people who live in really hilly areas did say that the bike couldn’t handle steeper hills, unless it had gears, so if that’s a concern for you, then the Plus version would probably be a safer option, unless maybe you wouldn’t mind the Rad Mini as an alternative. I think those of us who are drawn to the RadRunner are into the aesthetic, so for me, the RadRunner Plus is currently my top pick.
Actually it not only comes in Silver, which I like. But also it comes in the traditional Forest Green Black like the based RadRunner model comes in? Great.... just when I’ve settled finally with the Super 73 R Series, this comes out and makes me reconsider my future purchase. The Damn market on these bikes is so damn fast that one company is willing to out due the other just to stay in competition with the other companies. Which makes selecting a choice kinda difficult to commit to, going to have to figure see if this model goes any faster then the original product they have in stock?

Oh yeah one more thing since you already have the rad Runner do you know of any panniers that will fit that rear rack. And yes I do know about the Fremont panniers and I do not like them any input would be a big help thank you sir.
Hello again Drew, I ordered some smaller bags off Amazon. The company is called "Mastiff Outdoor" and the bag name I believe is called "Molle". They won't arrive however for a couple of weeks. For me the panniers seem too cumbersome. Who knows, these bags I just ordered may end up being too small and I'll have to get a set of pannier bags anyway? Perhaps when I get them I'll do an update on how they are working out...
I just ordered a radrunner today in green also. is the upgraded display made for the radrunner? Or is it swappable with any other Rad bike? I have a Rad mini, the display was acting up so they sent me a new display but I have not installed it yet, I would like to put it on the runner. Your bike looks pretty good with all the accessories on it.
Hello Pat, thank you for the question. According to www.radpowerbikes.com They state "Please contact Product Support if you need a display for another model" when looking up the display upgrade for the RadRunner. Now Im curious if it works or not. Please hit me up when you swap the display and let me know the outcome. Happy riding!

Rode my friend’s Radrunner today here’s an authentic review. I’m 5’9”, 190lbs, a strong cyclist and live in a hilly neighborhood. Cons: - It’s severely underpowered and performs like a 500 watt motor or less. - On hills it has a very hard time. - Steering is dangerously unstable. - its seat is too high. - The cockpit is short/cramped. - It has too little slack in the stem/handle bars. - The handlebars aren’t wide enough too keep the front wheel straight. - I could barely the get it’s single speed gear up a hill, even when I have it set to its top speed and pedaling - It has 5 speeds and 2-4 feel the same. - Does not ride like a bicycle. Pros: - Rides like a scooter. -The tires are cushy. I don’t recommend the Radrunner at all. FYI: When test riding, don’t put a kid or first time rider on it until you figure out the quirks because they will tip over or go over the handlebars.
