At one point, Mr. Haddad mentions that we're looking for a 'ruler', someone who can pull us out of this. I am reminded of the Old Testament, when the elders of Israel went to Samuel saying that they wanted a King, like everyone around them had. Samuel asked God, and God said to give them a King, but to warn them that a King would not necessarily do the Will of God, but could do their own will. I feel like this is the logical outcome of all that. We have believed so much in a human being as the answer to our problems, that we have shoved God aside. My parents were founding members and lifelong supporters of their parish. When Pop was dying, my brother called to ask the pastor to come and administer the Sacraments. He got an answering machine. The pastor didn't call back until two days after my father passed.

Imagine those days when a messenger had to ride horseback or run for the priest, and the priest had to ride - whatever the time or weather - to administer the - possibly - last sacraments to the dying. Our Lady of Good Success, should actually be called *Our* *Lady* *of* *Buen* *Suceso* *of* *the* *Purification* , as the Governing Sisters of the Royal Monastery of the Conceptionists in Quito with the support of the Archbishop of Quito - have asked anglophone (and all other language) apostolates spreading the devotion to henceforth refer to Our Lady under her full title of “Buen Suceso of the Purification”-retaining the Spanish term. In Quito, the official title is Nuestra Señora del Buen Suceso de la Purificación. This would translate literally as “Our Lady of the Good Event of the Purification”. The English speaking world in the last century has come to know Her as Our Lady of Good Success because of a *mistranslation* of the Spanish “Buen Suceso” to “Good Success”, when it really means “Good Event”.

Yep. And having attended Catholic schools in the UK for 15 years between 1975 and 1990 I can say I never learned a single thing about faith or morals. In fact I have a vague memory of learning about the different types of artificial contraception! The only bit of religion apart from some Masses with guitars was a MATHS teacher who was old school and said a prayer at the start of every lesson.
I went to a Catholic school and religion was not taught, i found out about Fatima litrally by chance 15 years ago it changed me forever

Our Lady of Good Success, should actually be called *Our* *Lady* *of* *Buen* *Suceso* *of* *the* *Purification* , as the Governing Sisters of the Royal Monastery of the Conceptionists in Quito with the support of the Archbishop of Quito - have asked anglophone (and all other language) apostolates spreading the devotion to henceforth refer to Our Lady under her full title of “Buen Suceso of the Purification”-retaining the Spanish term.
In Quito, the official title is Nuestra Señora del Buen Suceso de la Purificación. This would translate literally as “Our Lady of the Good Event of the Purification”.
The English speaking world in the last century has come to know Her as Our Lady of Good Success because of a *mistranslation* of the Spanish “Buen Suceso” to “Good Success”, when it really means “Good Event”.
