I recently changed my bars and thought I’d broken my heated grips because they wouldn’t heat up anymore. I triple checked all my connections and still couldn’t figure it out until now. After watching ur video, I went to pull off the end cap on the right grip and saw it wasn’t plugged into the twist sensor. Now they work again. I’ve done my bars before and never knew there was a plug there. Thanks for the video!✌🏾
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm glad to hear the video helped you get your grips back to heating. That is a common issue and the first thing you check if the grips stop working. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
Thanks Scott for watching and commenting. Heated grips are definitely a game changer. I won't have a bike with out them in the future. Thanks for your continued support. Ride safe and enjoy. ✌️👊👍

Thank you very much for the great instructional video and for giving me the confidence to try this on my own.The operation was a success. I live in Wisconsin so the heated grips are a must for early and late season riding. I have a 2022 Street Glide Sp. and one thing I did notice is that I didn't have to remove the ignition switch. The cover plate below the switch was slotted for easy removal. Thanks again!

Great installation instructions for my heated hand grips. However I’m having a problem with my ignition switch going back, I reinstalled it ok but when it locks into position the ignition looses power, can you advise on what I’m doing wrong
Thanks for watching. If you are putting back into the exact position as you took it out...I'm not sure what may be going on there. I've taken mine out and reinstalled it several times and never had an issue.
Great video for anyone who hasn't changed there bars. But if you did and have your wires run internally, this job becomes much more involved. Also, from 2014 up, you do not need to remove ignition to remove the inner fairing cap. It is slotted for that reason.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I have also put heated grips on another bike with all internal wiring. It's a little more challenging but not impossible. If are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍
i had new bars put on and now im trying to do my own heated grips but I cant my feed wire past the bend , gonna try braided cable wire but any suggestions getting past the other wires or should i just pull it out too with a string attached to it ?
@grrmisfit If they are getting stuck and you are using trimmer line or something else to pull them through....1 make sure the plugs are offset on the heated grip cables when you attach them... 2. Spray something on the cables and plugs (make sure the plugs are covered or taped up) such as a glass cleaner or even some WD40...something to make the slide easier. Aftermarket bars do make the install more difficult to pull wires, but, it can be done. Patience is the key. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for you support and ride safe. 👊👍✌️
Nice video. I have heard that heated grips don't work or don't work well if they are wet. Maybe they just got a lemon. I also heard that they can get pretty hot. Enjoying your videos. It's nice to watch something without any foul language or someone losing their temper.

Just subscribe thank you for the video went out riding yesterday me and my buddies swap bikes, and after realizing he had heated grips something I’m doing this weekend to my 2008 SG
Thanks for watching and subscribing. Yes, heated grips are a game changer on those cold rides. I never thought I needed them until I used them for the first time on my 2021 Street Glide CVO. Since I've added them to the 2021 Road Glide Special and the 2023 Street Glide ST. Thanks for your support and I look forward to seeing your comments on other and future videos. 👍👊✌️

In case of exernally wireing: How do you use any kind of externally wired heated grip for giving throttle if the wires are running on the outside of the bar? Even if it goes with small customization inside the switch housing and small change on the locking plastic part of the grip, doesn't the wire interfere rotational motion? I get the left side, but because the other one rotates it's much more important! Please tell!
Thanks for watching and commenting. The installation shown is for the Harley Davidson models that have the wiring already in the throttle side grip. As shown in the video, you just plug in the connector that's inside the throttle grip into the receptacle on the end of the throttle by wire component. I would suggest only using heated grips that are made specific for the model and year of your bike so you don't have to modify any part of the grip or wiring. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍👊✌️
In this case, i'd like to ask for your help! How does the right side installation look on a harley dyna wide glide 2014? Can you send me something, maybe a video or step by step instructions, please?
@MrNothotenian I'd like to help out, buy. I don't have access to that particular motorcycle and I'm not familiar with that installation. I'd suggest going to the Harley Davidson website and search for heated grips that are designed for your bike model and year. Once you find the correct set of heated grips, there is an instruction sheet that should give you the necessary information to install them on your bike. 👊✌️👍
Any videos on installs on older bikes ? I have an 2005 Harley Road Glide . I purchased the Harley Grips and the wiring harness recommended . I’m sure with being an older model there want be a plug in inside the grip on the brake side .
Thanks for watching and commenting. I believe you are correct that the throttle side does not have the plug-in at the end of the grip for that year. I do not have any install videos on that Era of bike as my bikes have and experience has been on bike 2014 and newer. I suggest searching youtube for heated grip install in 2005 touring bikes. Also make sure the grips purchased are for your model and year of bike. Typically there will be decent install instructions in the package and also available on the HD website when you search the part number for the grips. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍
Good afternoon! I bought some after market bars that are prewired for heated grips. What grips are people using with type of set up. 2017 street glide special.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm must say I don't have any experience with pre-wired bars. Hopefully another viewer will see the question and have an answer. My other thought is check with the bar manufacturer and see if they have any recommendations. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. Thank you for all your videos Rick. I am going to install the Ciro Light Cannons, are there enough aux power ports on my 23 SG to do the lights and the heated grips?
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm not familiar with the installation on the Ciro Light Cannons, however, I installed the Custom Dynamics Fog Lights on my 2021 Road Glide Special. Those utilized a harness that came in the kit and connected into the battery. I'd suggest checking out that video as it may help you with your installation. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👍👊
Hi Rick, my question is on one of your older videos on switching 117 extreme to a 117 ventilator. I have a 23 heritage classic 114, I want to do a stage 1, the HD screaming eagle ventilator looks IDENTICAL to my stock air filter. Any thoughts on air flow, or any other differences, or is it the same, TY
The 114 ventilator will be fine for Stage 1 or even beyond that. No need to go to screamin eagle ventilator. Pretty much the same flow coming in. The only ventilator kit that will flow more is the extremely ventilator. I put that on the Street Glide ST to get rid of the stock heavy breather. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. Ride safe and enjoy. 👊✌️👍
Thanks for watching and commenting. My suggestion is check the HD website for heated grips that will fit your year and model bike. If they offer heated grips for softails, then my guess is the connections are there. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. Thanks John for watching and commenting. I did not need and aux power connector on either my 2023 Street Glide ST or my 2021 Road Glide Special. All power was available as shown in the video. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍
Thanks for watching and commenting. That is a great question. I do not think the grips are rebuildable I'd the rubber breaks down. However, the rubber on the heated grips seem much better than the regular stock grips so hopefully they would not have to be replaced at any time too soon. I have heated grips on my 2021 Street Glide CVO that are now 2 years old and showing no signs of wear. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
Thanks for watching and commenting. I have put Harley heated grips on a batwing bike with 12 Factory 47 bars, and it was at the limit. There are some extensions that come in the kit that could be added onto the wiring to extend. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👍👊
@jeffreyjohnson6968 With the extensions in the kit, on the road glide set up, you maybe just fine as the connections are right at the top clamp. I did a video on installing on a Road Glide as well in an earlier video. You can find it in the Road Glide Special Playlist.
@jeffreyjohnson6968 On all bikes I have installed grips onto, no additional harness is needed. All the connections are there from the factory on both batwing and road glide bikes. Caveat...at least on 2014 and newer. I think they say you need the harness if you are using the power accessories connection for something else. As you can see in both the videos, I just used the power connections that were there from the factory.
Thanks John for watching and subscribing to the channel. I look forward to seeing your comments on other and future videos. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍

Very informative video. It sure did change my mind on doing this myself. The wires that you pulled through the handlebar doesn't appear to be long enough. Is there an additional harness that is required? Thanks again.

I am now a subscriber. I noticed in the HD parts book that a n additional wire harness is required. That is why I asked. I have a 23 tri-glide.@@HDVIBE
@davidmaxwell7029 Thanks David for subscribing. The wiring harness referred to is not needed as the one listed is an accessory power harness that would be connected to the battery. While I'm not 100% sure the power connection is in the fairing on the TriGlide like it is on the other fairing touring bikes, my guess it is. The only situation that would necessitate needed the harness is if the power connector that is in the fairing has been connected to another powered accessory. My suggestion is to take the fairing off before you purchase the grips to determine if the power connector is there as I show on the video. I hope that helps. 👊✌️👍

I installed the Willie G. heated grips on my bike in August of 2022. Used them on a bike trip to the Big Horn mountains in September of 2022. Used the heated grips again in Spring of 2023. My heated grips that the dealer installed for me when I bought the bike new stopped working & my expensive extended warranty would not cover them .. My wife bought an Indian, had the heated grips installed also & bought the extended warranty . Her grips are now 7 years old & have been no problems . Because she didn’t have any issues & did not need any of the warranty, Indian refunded almost all of her warranty cost . I know what bike I’ll buy next …..

Are they rebuildable after the rubber breaks down
Thanks for watching and commenting. What’s the length for needing extensions for taller handle bars such as 14in bars
I got 14in kst bars on my 22 roadglide and been wanting heated grips
@jeffreyjohnson6968 With the extensions in the kit, on the road glide set up, you maybe just fine as the connections are right at the top clamp. I did a video on installing on a Road Glide as well in an earlier video. You can find it in the Road Glide Special Playlist.
You have to buy the electrical kit that the grips description says it needs cause I’ve heard you need it and others say it comes with what you need
Nice install!!! just subscribed too!!!
Thanks John for watching and subscribing to the channel. I look forward to seeing your comments on other and future videos. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍
How can you tell if there’s a short in your heated grips
That is a great question. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you. Thanks for watching and ride safe. 👍✌️👊
Are you going to do an install on the new 2024 Roadglide?
Thanks for watching and commenting. I do not have access to the new 2024s, so I don't see a video on this install on a 2024 coming out anytime soon. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👊👍
Nice install , But I definitely won't need heated grips I hate riding in the cold lol..🇺🇸👍👍👍
Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate your support. Ride safe and enjoy. ✌️👊👍
Very informative video. It sure did change my mind on doing this myself. The wires that you pulled through the handlebar doesn't appear to be long enough. Is there an additional harness that is required? Thanks again.
Thanks for watching and commenting. The wires are long enough. No extensions are necessary for stock bars. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
I like the video nice job

I always leave the top center screw for last so I am in front of the faring holding in place with one hand while removing the last screw. No way it can fall.

You needed a Heat-Gun to remove the grips from their Glue more easily.
Yes, that would have worked as well perhaps. On my other bike the glue just broke loose by giving it a good twist. Thanks for watching and offer input on the glue struggle. 👊✌️👍

I installed the Willie G. heated grips on my bike in August of 2022. Used them on a bike trip to the Big Horn mountains in September of 2022. Used the heated grips again in Spring of 2023. In September of 2023, just 13 months after installation and 1 month out of warranty, the grips do not work anymore. The harley grips are a steaming pile of dog shit!
Thanks for watching and commenting. Sorry to hear about your less than positive experience. So far no issues with mine. I've been running Kahuna heated grips on the 2021 Street Glide CVO for right at two years and the grips still heating correctly. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you.
