Needed to adjust my bars and was mad as a hornet thinking I had to take fairing off. Saved me a lot of time by mentioning that little tid bit about the back two bolts. Best ape hanger install video I've seen by far
Great video. It lets me know that I don’t want to do it. I love them 12” hell bent apes. I’m looking at putting them on my dresser by someone else lol. Keep up the good work.
I just installed JSR's "Bad Attitude 12" apes on my 2010 Roadglide. I used stock clutch cbl , brake cbl, left, right and throttle wiring. Just had to take the mirror off and thread the clutch cable thru to the rear of the crashbar. It was surprisingly easy install. The tedious part, feeding the wires through the bars and resplicing. took About 6 hours off and on sitting at the dinner table.:) P.S. You have to eliminate the TBW plugs as they wont turn the corners and cut the black jacket off left and right wire bundles to get them through.
@@36ELGALAN Nope, stock risers and clamps. Always go with stock HD clamps as I've heard horror stories about import risers snapping off; everything was stock. Make sure to get RoadG or StreetG apes. They are wider at the base for the gauge clam shell to close. Remember anything over 12" will be pushing it...
@@36ELGALAN Good. I'm 6'1" so the ride stance , shoulder height is much more comfortable than OEM. Only minor downside is your knuckles are not as protected with the fairing. I know this video and most of the comments are older but im wanting to swap bars on my 2013 street glide. I've read a ton of forum posts and heard experiences from those who have done it. And results seem to vary widely with who has been able to reuse stock lines and who needed longer cables. Id like a 12" bar, ideally the kst kustoms six bend kicker as I prefer the rounded 90° bend. Ive had some tell me go for it and I wont need anything else aside from rider bushings. And others said order all new lines and wires. Dealer also told me there's probably a 90% chance I could make 12's work with stock lines, I'll do the work myself of course.
Robert do you also check the heated grips for heat during the electrical check? Just bought your complete 14 Apes with heated grips (did not have before).
Do you think on a 2013 street glide I could use stock cables with 12” bars. Someone said they cut all the zip ties and got the most out of there wires and it fit but I’m asking y’all with probly way more experience
Hi I have a 2010 Electra Glide and I was wondering what are the tallest apes I can install w/o having to extend the cables or wires? I'll planning DIY to install. Love your videos, and trust your advice.
hi, i had following your video to fix my handlebar on my Flhx 2012. At the time to reinstal the ignition, I have no power on the bike. What do I have to do! Thank you for the response
It's not necessary to remove the tank on all handlebar installations depending on the bike, but on this specific bike it's far easier to remove the tank and get it out of the way. Can you keep it on? Possibly. But the amount of work that has to be done to access certain fairing bolts and cable installations will likely cost you far more time in the long run. Plus keeping the tank on increases the risk of damaging paint from lubricants used or tools dropped, which would is not fun. The tank removal is quite easy and in our opinion far worth the few minutes to relieve many future headaches. Thanks for watching!
Hi Great VID! Looking for a 10"-12" bar that will get my wrists straight as possible with knuckles facing forward 2017 CVO Street Glide any suggestions Thanks!
+kapa8835 If you have ABS, I would not turn the key on until the brake line is bleed. Preferably, test the switches before you take the old brake line off

Not a problem. I answer that same question several times per day. I am 5' 11" and 14's are the perfect height for me in regards to comfort. I could go 16's if I wanted to make a little more of a statement and still be comfortable though. FYI, 14" is our most popular size by far. By the way, thanks for choosing HCC for your handlebar needs. We really appreciate the business!!!
Sorry about the late reply, but the cost can vary depending on cable length and installation needs. Feel free to call the shop for a more accurate pricing, it should only take a few minutes to figure out exactly what you need. 877-755-4455 Thanks!
Sure thing!!! However, I will need to find out more info about your bike and what kind of handlebars you want to use first. Give me a call at the shop when you get a chance 512-264-7333 ext. 100
Not even close to 15. We'd say anywhere from 3 - 4 hours is a safe bet. Preparation is key, making sure you have all the parts and tools available on-hand before you start will save a lot of time. Obviously mechanical skills come into play as well, but many people surprise themselves when they find out just how simple it can be when you have proper guidance. And that's the ultimate goal in all these videos, we don't want to trick you into thinking something is easy when it's not. We believe pretty much anyone can knock out this install in an evening.
I purchased a set of pre wired 14" LA choppers Twin Peaks from Hill Country Customs. Did the install after watching this video. piece of cake.

When you tightened the top riser bolts, did you use a torque wrench? I ask because I need to adjust my bars with the new seat I put on.
Do you have any videos on the process after you changed the top abs brake line? Do you just refill and bleed every line?

What is different between this and doing a 2007 street glide? Just bought dominator meat hooks and will be installing them soon.
