In late 1977 / early 1978, I bought a 1964 Polara 500 with a 426 Street Wedge and 4 speed. The seller was asking $75, but I got it for $50. It was black with red and white striped interior. I I changed the rear end for a Sure Grip one from a 1965 Coronet, that didn't have bolt-on wheel flanges. The 1964 4 speed transmission was an A833, but had a flange to attach the ball and trunnion driveshaft. I added a single plane, cast iron, two-four barrel intake manifold and carbs. The 426 exhaust manifolds took larger pipes than the 383 manifolds and the 426 took an H-pipe. The Dodge dealer sold new 1967 440 915 cylinder heads for $100 each, but a mail order Mopar parts company called, "Ramchargers" sold new 915, closed chamber heads for $100 a pair, plus shipping. The 426 originally came with plain 516 heads. 1964 was Dodge's golden anniversary, 50th year. It came with a factory installed Hurst shifter.
I remember doing 101 from Atascadero, CA to Yamhill, OR in the back seat as kid in my Mothers 65 Valiant. There was a place on Mt Shasta that had great corn dogs & rootbeer
Back in the day I had a 71 Dart with a 225 motor in it. After it blew up I put a rebuilt 318 with a 340 top end in it. The first time I tried to start it I turned the key and the horn went off. Hmm... Then I remembered that the horn wire and the ignition wire were both green. So I hit the horn button and what do you know? The starter went chug chug chug chug. True story.
Man that car takes me back. My cousin had a’64 Polara with a 413 and a 4speed. He bought it new and traded it in ‘67 for a Coronet R/T with a 440 with 2 four barrels and a 4 speed. He said the’64 was faster.
Came back to this vid to ask how well that insulation for floor worked? Thinking about using it in my w150 with rubber flooring. Also (after watching DDG replace fury floor pan for motivation) floor pans were replaced by me over past 3 days and are sealed in STEEL-IT paint that was awesome free. Kinda cool paint actually but it would have not been in picture if it wasnt for a homie. Cheers DDG and Morrison for the paint
It worked out great! It's comfortable inside the cab, no exhaust heat etc coming up through the floor. Unless the sun is directly on me/the seat it doesn't get outrageously hot inside, and when it's cold out it stays warm inside... mostly because I don't have a heater shut off valve so there's always heat floating out of the heater. I did the insulation in the video and I also sprang for an extra layer of stuff on the bottom of the carpet when I ordered that. No regrets!
@@aulduronsmith5577 oh, totally unrelated then. But yeah, that was a fun one. It wasn’t intentional, either. We put a ‘71 engine harness in a ‘68 Dart and it just happened. I don’t even know how we figured it out.
Some of the comfiest seats for pickups are the early 90s Chevy seats..the ones with rolls and look like pleated velvet..by far the comfiest ones I’ve had. Just have to find the thin bench from a single cab

ever notice how a '64 Plymouth has a similar kind of raised section that gives an inch or so more height around the perimeter of the front clip as does the '64 Ford rear deck has? And how it was a year or two before these models that Elwood Engle went from Ford to Chrysler as chief designer? Ya, me neither until just now. Fun videos on this car.
All Edelbrocks seem to need float adjustment out of the box these days. Remember to check yours with the gasket in place. The primaries are usually way too rich off the bat, my 440 has an 800 with .101 primary jets.
I got a calibration kit on the trip intending on pulling the top plate off and swapping the jets out but was satisfied just swapping out needles on springs.
@@deaddodgebrother yep, ran fine with the stock jets but was really rich at idle. Other than the smell it wasn’t an issue. Adjustable air door is a great feature.
So it IS acceptable to toss a Meep Meep horn into a non-Road Runner? My Valiant just got a tiny bit cooler. 😊 Love the quick cuts (editing) on the bolts- good stuff.
Haaahaha. I saw the original 2 hour movie and it was terrible, then I saw the 4 hour Snyder cut. Better, but so long winded. The sweet spot would be re-cutting the Snyder cut to 3 hours by taking out all of the slow motion and tightening things up. That would be just right!
I would love to but unfortunately I’m going to use up most of my drive-around-the-country days for the year on the race with Tony and Mopars In The Park.
My ancestry is in Oklahoma and Kansas where's yours? If you don't mind me asking just out of morbid curiosity and I love the car I had a 64 sport fury had a 413 4 speed was a blast
Jamie and brothers: What exactly is your relationship with Rocket? Do you: a) work for them full time b) part time c) just as needed d) other e) none of our business? It appears they are hours away from you per some of your flatbed truck videos. I'm sure I am the only one that is confused but thought I would ask.
Sorry, it’s been explained before a time or four, but that was probably 100 videos ago. I work for Rocket on a part time / as needed basis. There is plenty of work to do there but I have problems of my own here as well. Haha. -Jamie
Hard to say without looking. Does it honk by itself when you pull up on the wheel? Or do you have to pull on the wheel and hit the horn button? Sounds like the horn button isn't grounding/making contact properly. On the wheel I put in the Fury, the horn honks better if I push the bottom part of the button. It doesn't work as well if I hit the side of it.
Why didn't you change the wheel studs while you had the axles out. Hammer them out and use a press to press them in, not as hard on the threads that way, especially because you didn't use any lube on them.
Is your press tall enough to fit axle shafts? Cool. Ours isn’t though. Your way is better. But we’ve installed many, many studs just like this. It’s fine.
My brother. He’s kind of like a field reporter, or an occasional contributor. He’s done a handful of Fury videos, a couple Barracuda videos, a road trip video, and we worked together on a couple videos as well. -Jamie

I just love the exhaust note of the fury. Sounds like it's ready to cut the world a new one.

In my younger days we used to pre burn them out by throwing them in a fire before installing. 😆
