I'm going to buy Jane and Jonathan's book. Hope our local Australian prices don't rise due to exports.

Looks like Italy? No, it's the Victorian Alpine Valleys settled by Italian immigrants from the 1920's onward. Then there is Rutherglen world famous for its fortified wines and Durif, on the palate blueberries, blackberries, dark chocolate, plums, black pepper, espresso, menthol, mocha and black tea that will cellar for decades. Warrabilla Reserve Parola Durif is one of my favourites. Beechworth produces world class chardonnay.
Anyone with an interest in wine, visiting Australia, could easily spend a week or two doing cellar door tastings at these three regions in North East Victoria All are within 60 min of Albury Wodonga. Nearly all are small family owned wineries. I'm so fortunate to live in this region.
Interesting fact. The world's oldest wine producing Shiraz, Mourvedre, Grenache and Cab Sav vines are in the Barossa. Eden Valley has some of oldest Reisling vines still producing wine. Most were planted in the 1830's. No phylloxera in South Australia.
