As per the cost, please note that with the $12.99 plan per month plan, you get the same price as Tesla drivers. As much as 30% cheaper. You can choose to only pay for that month that you're going on a long road trip. Or you can pay a one time payment of $99 for a whole year. That's basically the cost of one fill-up on an ICE F-150.
So yeah, it's still cheaper than gas even if you can't charge at home.

This is gonna be an uncomfortable truth, but thank Biden for this. Subsidies for ev/green tech only apply to public options- aka, if they kept it proprietary they would've lost a LOT of federal incentives.
That, plus the pressure of the EV ecosystem having tons of competition for Tesla now, pressured Tesla to open their network.

I noticed something you missed. $.59 a kilowatt hour in my area is generally at the peak of usage. On a Tesla. On the screen when you open it for the charging station location. It shows you the cost of the kilowatt hour. Based off the time of day. In other words if you’re charging between 11 o’clock at night and 9 AM in the morning. It’s 11. Cents a kW hour. Now all the stations are different. And yes I have seen $.59 a kilowatt hour. And I’ve also seen $.11 a kilowatt hour. Each station will be different. The three new stations in my area. At this time are all set to $.35 a kilowatt hour 24 hours a day. I’m sure that’ll change as they establish that charging station.

I think Rivian moving to the NACS plug is a big deal. Owners won't have to worry if the superchargers near them have the adapter and theoretically any supercharger station should work.
After owning a model 3 for a few years, I always told people that the supercharger network single-handedly made Tesla THE brand to own because of how reliable and fast the charging was.
There were a few times I tried to charge at EA stations and not only did I encounter malfunctioning chargers but also extremely slow charging to the point where it wasn't even worth my time.
I'm back in an ICE vehicle for now but that R2 looks SHARP and I'll be checking the reviews when they are released.
