Phil R Thanks Phil, sorry for the late reply. Yes I’m very pleased with this all now, it’s all starting to take shape. Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
M and B Homestead Thank you Ken, I’m really pleased with this model, it looks great trundling around the layout, I’m just waiting for the iPhone speaker to arrive. Cheers for now mate. 👍🏻. Cheers for now. ...........Graham
great update graham do like the new addition to your fleet looks good on the layout a really nice running season have a good week all the best al 😀👍👍👍👍
Layton Junction Thanks very much Al and sorry for the late reply mate. Yes the new addition to the fleet sits nicely with the others I have so my modern image look is gradually starting to come together. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
Susannah Joaquim Hi Susannah and thanks for the comment. There are several different sound files out there for this but I went with YouChoos as I really like the after sales service and advice I get from John and has helped me so much on this one alone. I will look forward to hearing your version whichever one you get. Cheers for now. .............Graham
Peter Shaw Hi Peter and thank you. Yes this 158 is a real looker in that livery. I’m just waiting for the speaker to arrive so I can fir that and also put people in the coaches and weather the lower chassis area. Hopefully that should make it sound a little better and look a bit more realistic too. Keep saving your pennies because you won’t be disappointed! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers for now mate. ............Graham
Rob McCrain Ho Rob and thank you. The flashing lights are very subtle but a great added feature and really show up at night. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
Hi Graham what a great model. I have been using John for some good few years now and I find him second to none. Loll after yourself, I look forward to the next video.
Derek Peters Absolutely Derek. I have always had excellent service from John which plays an important part in me continuing to buy from him. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
Toniandbaz Duffy Thank you very much Basil and I think this sits really nicely with the other stock I now have, gradually getting my modern image stock together now. Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
Graham when I first saw this train was coming out I pre ordered it and as I live in the East Midlands I thought it would fit right in on my layout but sadly as Bachmann took that long to get it out I changed my hobby completely. I still like this train and Im glad to see one on your layout
Woody Woodcrafts Hi Graham and thanks for dropping by, Bachmann have taken ages to get this out like you said but now that it’s here then they have done a cracking job on it in my opinion and fits my layout perfectly. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
Philip Page Hi Philip, I have added some people to since making this video but I’ve run out of them now so I will need to buy some more to fill it up a bit more - I’ll get there in the end. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
Nice unit Graham.I look forward to hearing it again with the iPhone speakers. I have a 159 unit, earlier model. It was a swine to chip it but now I have heard your 158 I might have to look at You Choose as well. Thanks for sharing with us.
tim jd dowd Thank you Tim and yes, I’m so pleased with this so far and it will only get better by the time I am finished with it. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
Medway Peninsula Model Railway Thank you Kev, I have just uploaded another video where it is now weathered and also fitted with a mini twin iPhone speaker installed so it looks and sound quite different now from it originally did. Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
Hi graham Totally agree that speaker needs changing and I'm gutted you didnt go for the gwr livery as you know I'm a devon boy and a true great western railway lad lol. Great set and look forward to the updated speaker in it. Peter from birmingham
southway1943 Hi Peter and you never know, I may still get another in the GWR livery to go with my Class 800 - I just need to save some more pennies! Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
Hi graham I'll tell you what I'm hoping to get the gwr livery at the end of feb so if we ever meet I'll bring mine to yours for a run and comparison lol
Fabulous model Graham. Not yey heard a bad word about them. The EMT 158s operate the notorious service between Manchester and Sheffield so perhaps you should get lots of little people and see how many you can get into a model 158
Tony Hancock The only negative I have heard is about the seam by the front cab which although is on the real thing, is not quite so -pronounced as on the model but that doesn’t bother me to be honest. And don’t worry, I will try and get quite a few people in the coaches when I come to do that job. 😉. Cheers for now mate. .........Graham
Johnrey Ortiz Thank you Johnrey and I’m pleased that you like it and also the second layout too, that’s much appreciated sir. Cheers for now. .............Graham
Hi Graham very nice model and nice livery, still not sold on the new GWR livery. I need to order my class 50 sound chip from John, is your 0 gauge 50 sound decoder from him as well Andy
Andy Hudson Hi Andy and thanks mate. I got my O gauge Class 50 sound decoder from Legomanbiffo, for O gauge then I had to go for the large decoder, I think the video of me wiring that up is still in the Class 50 section of the channel if you want to take a look. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
Super looking loco Graham, i would have gone for that livery too its striking for sure, don't know why we never get a CV list with new loco's anymore its a pain in the ass trying to find them online, cheers mate...Mal
Yorkshire Mal's Trains Hi Mal and thank you mate. I did get a complete list of CV’s with my sound decoder but changing the things I wanted changing was not on the list - well if they were then I couldn’t find them! 😂. All sorted now though with John’s help from YouChoos. Cheers for now mate. .........Graham
Anthony Strathmore road junction Thank you very much Anthony, I’m very pleased that I’ve got this now, I had been thinking about it for a little while and finally took the plunge and so glad I did. It runs superbly too. 👍🏻. I will do the shout out for you on my next video. Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
trainmanbob Thanks Bob, you must be very used to seeing these run then, I can’t say that I’ve ever actually seen any in real life but then again I never go on trains! Cheers for now mate. ..............Graham
Hi Graham......very impressive railcar and sound.....love that industrial area backdrop, very realistic and it sets the scene very well.Bloody housework/duties shouldnt be allowed to interrupt model train working/ construction.Bye for now and catch up soon..
Desmond Davis Thanks Desmond and yes, there always seems something else to do. Just when you think it’s all clear then something else pops up - bugger! 😂😂. Cheers for now mate. .........Graham
It’s a nice livery. Sorry I thought it was a SWT one rather than East Midlands over on Facebook . East Midlands looks good though . The interior lighting looks very realistic . Good one!
Russell Benton Hi Russell, I’m really pleased with this model, it’s a great runner even in this early stage, a few more hours of running and it will bed in nicely. Love the livery too. Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
Scott Malcolm Hi Scott, I have now taken that speaker out and replaced it with a train mini iPhone unit, now having seen the speaker supplied then I doubt if it cost Bachmann more than a couple of pence each - it was tiny!! Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
Lovely model Graham. I've been very tempted to get the GWR 158 at the end of the month. Seeing this video is not good for my bank balance as I think a decision has now been made. lol All the best Jamie
Fantastic. That goods yard and back scene will look fantastic once the terrain is completed. Do you have plans for anything similar on the countryside side?
Edward Gray Thanks Edward. I can see it all in my minds eye how this will all eventually pan out but I’m too early on in the build to let on what I have planned but all I can say is that by this time next year then the layout will look quite different - including the countryside scene. All I can say is keep on watching! Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
BVR Railway Hi Steve and thank you. Yes, it does look rather smart running on Lakeside, I have just uploaded another video showing it weathered and with twin mini iPhone speakers installed - looks and sounds even better now in my opinion. 👍🏻. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
rbeamish Totally agree mate and that will be one of the first jobs I do when I take it apart to put the new speaker in plus the obligatory seated passengers too! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
It looks fantastic- that is an eye-catching livery. It sounds good, but obviously could be better. One thing does get me with so many of these Hornby and Bachmann models- all the potential functions which come turned off and need the CVs re-done. Not sure why they do it.
Anthony Dodge The Model Train Outsider Many thanks Anthony. It’s actually not a Bachmann or a Hornby sound decoder in this case but I understand what you mean. The thing is that there are so many sounds or functions available these days that they only do the ones that are mainly used. Modern decoders can handle far more than they used to and with Swiss mapping then even more can be utilised. There are some very interesting articles out there which explains it far better than I ever will but each person who records and produces sound files will have their own interpretation and it’s up to the end user to chose whether to keep the decoder as it’s supplied or to tweak it a little for their own preference. Hope that helps a bit. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
Nice model Graham and it looks and sounds great when running on your layout. Speak to you later, my turn. Cheers for now mate..............................Geoff
TRAM JUNCTION Hi Geoff and sorry for the late reply mate. I know it’s not your era but thanks anyway for the comment, I think it looks just right on Lakeside and I’m really pleased with it. Cheers for now mate. .........Graham
The model is let down by that prominent seam at the cab ends which is recessed on the prototype thus shouldn't be visible like that or protruding on the model...and yes that speaker is awful.
Wow, looks great! Lovely train, workers, bridge, buildings, lighting...Congrats, very nicely done!!
Phil R Thanks Phil, sorry for the late reply. Yes I’m very pleased with this all now, it’s all starting to take shape. Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
Those look great, perfect addition to the Lakeside Railroad. Great job adding the sound to them. Thanks for sharing. Ken
M and B Homestead Thank you Ken, I’m really pleased with this model, it looks great trundling around the layout, I’m just waiting for the iPhone speaker to arrive. Cheers for now mate. 👍🏻. Cheers for now. ...........Graham
Superb model - like that industrial backdrop - sets the view really nicely
wd23st Thanks mate, yes the industrial back scene works well, very pleased with that. Cheers for now mate. .........Graham
great update graham do like the new addition to your fleet looks good on the layout a really nice running season have a good week all the best al 😀👍👍👍👍
Layton Junction Thanks very much Al and sorry for the late reply mate. Yes the new addition to the fleet sits nicely with the others I have so my modern image look is gradually starting to come together. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
Hi Graham, thank you for posting this video. It was good to hear your views on it and the sound file you went with. Susannah.
This 158 is a real stunner with super detailing , I like the internal lighting and seating .
You lucky man , I'm saving my pennies again .......Peter
Peter Shaw Hi Peter and thank you. Yes this 158 is a real looker in that livery. I’m just waiting for the speaker to arrive so I can fir that and also put people in the coaches and weather the lower chassis area. Hopefully that should make it sound a little better and look a bit more realistic too. Keep saving your pennies because you won’t be disappointed! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers for now mate. ............Graham
A very smooth runner. The flashing lights are very fine.
Rob McCrain Ho Rob and thank you. The flashing lights are very subtle but a great added feature and really show up at night. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham

Hi Graham, a great acquisition to your fleet. A very enjoyable video. Cheers Greg
Greg Hale Many thanks Greg and much appreciated too. Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
Lovely to watch that 158, i am glad you are going to add some passengers as a two car unit like that would be overcrowded at peak times.
Philip Page Hi Philip, I have added some people to since making this video but I’ve run out of them now so I will need to buy some more to fill it up a bit more - I’ll get there in the end. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham

tim jd dowd Thank you Tim and yes, I’m so pleased with this so far and it will only get better by the time I am finished with it. Cheers for now mate. ...........Graham
Excellent video again Graham, love your choice of livery.. Regards Geoff at Maryville Junction 😎🚒🚒
turnout999 Thanks Geoff and yes, I preferred this livery over the others but that’s just a personal choice. Cheers for now mate. ..........Graham
Awesome DMU Graham!! Love it very much! Cheers Onno.
Onno Mulder Thank you Onno and I agree, it looks very smart going round Lakeside, I’m very pleased with it. Cheers for now mate. .........Graham

Looks and sounds great... but really REALLY needs some weathering to get rid of the plastic look on the underframe
