    I've discovered quite a few of these kind of gems. I do suggest you flatten down the barbs, or of barbless. Makes unhooking these treasures faster and easier.

    Been awhile since I've had a chance to watch one of your old posts. Loved this one as I love to fish for trout. Do you have to pay extra on your fishing license to fish for trout? I have to pay extra to do so in Wisconsin.

    if you are going to catch and release please wet your hands before you touch the trout..and try not to keep him suspended hanging from your hook and never bounce them off the rocks ... nice job finding and catching them btw!

    hey dude I know that stream and it took a hell of a lot of people and time to restore that. u know this if u live there. try to learn how to fly fish barbless if ur going to catch wild trout in jersey. not that many wild trout streams to fish. don't need to gut hook a wild brookie with a treble hook. no worries if u disagree, just saying it would be more sustainable for the wild guys.

    • @FishAholicTV
      @FishAholicTV  8 років тому

      +Soft Livin' Ok I understand your position and have fished this stream for twenty years then add my fathers thirty years thats 50 years and we have never seen a decline in the catch. I do fish barbless in some circumstances but never on these trout streams. I would like to know which stream did you restore? PM me because I am curious and have never seen anyone other then myself my father and a friend I take there occasionally. I fished three different streams in this video and there has been very little work from what I have seen to restore these streams that in my opinion over the years really did not need restoring. I noticed in some locations bushes and trees were cut to make easier access to a portion of one of the streams and I don't know why someone would do that because it ruined at least 100 yards of overhanging trout habitat and shelter. I hope that was not your work of restoring!

      +FishAholic Fishing not saying I did but ur town did when they widened that stretch of highway. not going to say what river cause don't want retards going there. ask ur pops he would know what I'm talking about in regards to what was done to restore that stream. no biggie tight lines. 206....

I'm new to fly fishing and he was showing me some things and gave me a few flies. Great guy! Thanks to him I did catch one more rainbow right after he left and then broke off on a really nice one. I did get to watch him catch a big beautiful (beatup and old) rainbow on his 3wt. Too bad we didn't have video of that! Was awesome to watch! -Matt

    Idk, I guess I'm a purist of sorts. I can't get onboard with spin fishing for trout. Fly fishing for me is the only way to go... Not gonna lie though, it's easier with a 5' spin rod. It takes way more skill with the fly rod. 😎💯

      Sort of same lol! I caught 75 stockers opening day NJ on spinning (bait) and did a bunch of spin on the PSkill. But I'm getting better on fly and I think its much more rewarding! Mortality rate (handling aside) is much lower on fly than bait or hardware. Got a couple wild/native trout slams on fly, plus a stocked palomino this year as well.

    Tons of fun! Definitely reccomend fly (barbless), using a rubber net or keeping your hands wet, and don't let them touch the ground! Especially Native Brookies (actually a Char) are very sensitive and we need to protect their waters. Native Brookies, wild browns and wild rainbows can be found in NJ if you know where to look.

In May I would say focus on inlets and breachways, and in august probably the south shore surf or around point judith. Theres probably some big Fluke in August off the East wall. I was diving off the East wall in Early September and saw massive Fluke this past year.

    Why dont you eat any of the trout? Does the water contain some harmful bacteria that makes the fish inedible?

      Grew up fishing what I believe is the brook you speak of. Yes the fish hold over due to the cold mountain spring water that starts this brook 500+ feet above sea level

    hey man your not suppose to be fishing this whole 3 weeks due to trout stocking not cool

    • @FishAholicTV
      @FishAholicTV  8 років тому

      +Luis Guallpa they don't stock these rivers. These streams are not maintained in anyway by the state of NJ therefore you can fish them year round when ever you want. So it is cool. I know what im doing I grew up fishing up and down the east coast and throughout jersey you can trout fish any Native, or non-stocked river year round. Some streams you can not keep fish. But these streams are usually on public property such as a park. Therefore the state of NJ is aware of the trout population so they regulate an in-season and offseason. But the streams in this video are unclassified as Native or Trout waters therefore NO offseason. I don't keep the fish on these streams anyways and only three people I know of fish these waters my father, friend and I we have been catching healthy trout in these waters for nearly 30 years. Please rethink your knowledge before you think you know.
