The 2022 Hurricane Season is the prime example that you don't need an active season for it to be a bad one. It's also probably the best example of what an average count of storms looks like. In terms of formation, however, this season was all over the place. 0 named storms in August, 3 hurricanes within November (Lisa technically formed on October 31, but became a hurricane in November), and finally, FINALLY, ending the now 7 year streak of pre-season storms. It certainly looks like an average season, but it has such an interesting story to tell.

This season was really destructive and historic. It's honestly kinda sad how people, especially meteorlogists in the US, are only concerned about their state and Puerto Rico. Everyone's talking about Ian. Fiona, Julia, Nicole and Hermine also caused problems in other countries. Fiona was the strongest and costliest storm to hit Canada, Julia becoming a deadly Central American hurricane, and Hermine was bad for Western Africa too. Even Nicole which hit Florida as well is sometimes overshadowed. It doesn't necessarily only take one storm to make a season destructive. Still was an really interesting season to track tho.
Ian and Fiona got retired (tho not Nicole which was a billion dollar storm). Ian was third most destructive ($115B USD) and fifth strongest hurricane in U.S. history. What I think of this year's hurricane season? At first I was Very confident that we will get a very busy season but ofc like every other people that predict it it didn't come true and At may it really made me think that Alex would form on may but no it's June and broke the streak of pre- seasons storms from 2015-2021 and I just wanna put some opinions on A handful of storms that I just want to say First of I wanna start With PTC 4: in my opinion while it was in the gulf of Mexico Before Collapsing somehow, it really looked like a tropical storm At one point and they should have named it Danielle but I guess it was too late and it just decided to just collapse all of that convection that it had before naming it .. but that's just my opinion. Second is ian: I don't want to put a very big evidence of the intensity of ian because it's just gonna Lead to an argument again and it would just Be so Nerdy of me to put my own evidence here so here's just percentages of my opinion of ian... 100% cat 1, 100% cat 2, 100% cat 3, 100% cat 4, 20% cat 5 Next is Julia Julia: at first I thought it would really form before entering the Caribbean but ofc just like Bonnie it took forever. And I just wanna say, Julia's intensity of it being a cat 2 is the only one I disagree because it didn't have enough time at that point to be a cat 2 and maybe it was cat 2 because of an evidence that I forgot... For me it is a high end cat 1. Next that I want to talk about is about overall the impacts of this year.. but I'll edit it later
Unofficial names used: Alfred, Billie, Calvin, Danielle, Edward, Flossie, Gordon, Hilary, Isaac, Joyce, Kevin, Linda, Martin, Nancy. Flossie and Isaac were retired and replaced with Faye and Idris. Please don't comment it's wrong. It's a nuisance for me, and I'm not trying to misinform anyone.
2022 Hurricane Season Hermine became the deadliest “West African” storm on record Martin became the 2nd largest atlantic hurricane on record and achieved one of the lowest pressures for a cat 1 hurricane on record Fiona became the most powerful storm to strike Canada on record by pressure Fiona ties for the second strongest landfall in Canada by wind speed tropical or extratropical (105 mph) Fiona became the costliest storm in Canadian history Ian ties (and may surpass) Irma as the costliest hurricane in Floridian history and is the deadliest in Florida since 1935 Ian’s large size and slow approach to Florida led to Ian being the fourth wettest hurricane in Floridian history (surpassing Sally of 2020) Julia took the second most southerly track over South America on record (behind Bert 1993) Julia also become the second deadliest “South American” hurricane in history
@@joeisreallife7729 Actually Ian’s exact cost is currently unknown. Estimated “at least” at 50B with some estimates up to 67B and one estimate even up to 100B. As such it is best to go with the lowest amount for now (That’s why I said “and likely to surpass Irma”)
I am surprised the name Bonnie hasnt been retired since in 1998 Hurricane Bonnie made a high end Cat 3 bordering on Cat 4 landfall in the Carolinas before weakening and then reintensifying back to a Cat 3 and smashed Virginia. I think its overshadowed by Georges and the infamous Mitch.

At first I was Very confident that we will get a very busy season but ofc like every other people that predict it it didn't come true and At may it really made me think that Alex would form on may but no it's June and broke the streak of pre- seasons storms from 2015-2021 and I just wanna put some opinions on A handful of storms that I just want to say
First of I wanna start With
PTC 4: in my opinion while it was in the gulf of Mexico Before Collapsing somehow, it really looked like a tropical storm At one point and they should have named it Danielle but I guess it was too late and it just decided to just collapse all of that convection that it had before naming it .. but that's just my opinion.
Second is
ian: I don't want to put a very big evidence of the intensity of ian because it's just gonna Lead to an argument again and it would just Be so Nerdy of me to put my own evidence here so here's just percentages of my opinion of ian... 100% cat 1, 100% cat 2, 100% cat 3, 100% cat 4, 20% cat 5
Next is Julia
Julia: at first I thought it would really form before entering the Caribbean but ofc just like Bonnie it took forever.
5:29 Ah yes, Hurricane Ian. There was trees falling and stuff all over the place. No power for about a fat week and no internet for a week and a half.
Dang ian made so many landfalls
Indeed
Ian really overshadowed the damage of Fiona. I think the storm is one that should be remembered
Hurricane Helene has more deaths than Ian just wow...
Wow, a Christmas animation!
Please do the rapid intensification music for the 2023 Atlantic and pacific Hurricane season!
Wating for 2022 Pacific Typhoon Season Animation

Unofficial names used:
Alfred, Billie, Calvin, Danielle, Edward, Flossie, Gordon, Hilary, Isaac, Joyce, Kevin, Linda, Martin, Nancy.
Flossie and Isaac were retired and replaced with Faye and Idris.
Please don't comment it's wrong. It's a nuisance for me, and I'm not trying to misinform anyone.
You predicted Ian’s replacement name a few days before it was announced.
Hurricane Ian Flooded Nicole's House😮
I feel like 2020 v.2 Atlantic needs to be made.
Hurricane ian category 5
Oh mah gah I missed this.
What about Martin? It wasn’t on the thing?
6:32
I had no idea invest 98L existed as a tropical depression. It's nowhere to be found in the NHC website
Its not official.
nice
2:13 Ah yes, Tropical Depression *98L*
I have just created this animation…It will premier a few hours before this one…
LETS GOOOOO!!!!! Cant wait for this animation it’s going to be an awesome Christmas present from Force 13!!!!!!
I live In Orlando. Ian was bad there, but no where near as bad as it got in sanibel. Prayers out to the people who love there
The active season streak has come to a close.
2022 was active wdym
@@Yoshida2010it was an average season
@@Spagine it was still active
@@Yoshida2010 not really, the only storms that made this season memorable are catagory 5 hurricane ian and hurricane fiona. Other than that not much
@@Jason-..- what was i smoking 3 months ago lol
When is the 2022 WMOB and when is 2023 hypo
When will there be a pacific typhoon season?
This hurricane season teaches us a lesson:
"It only takes one"
It only takes one to be a devastating hurricane season.
Two, in fact
It took three, Ian, Fiona, and Julia. Julia killed 91, sadly, which is alot of deaths...
Four, Hermine was bad too
Dam, a lot of storms caused trouble.
2022 Hurricane Season
Hermine became the deadliest “West African” storm on record
Martin became the 2nd largest atlantic hurricane on record and achieved one of the lowest pressures for a cat 1 hurricane on record
Fiona became the most powerful storm to strike Canada on record by pressure
Fiona ties for the second strongest landfall in Canada by wind speed tropical or extratropical (105 mph)
Fiona became the costliest storm in Canadian history
Ian ties (and may surpass) Irma as the costliest hurricane in Floridian history and is the deadliest in Florida since 1935
Ian’s large size and slow approach to Florida led to Ian being the fourth wettest hurricane in Floridian history (surpassing Sally of 2020)
Julia took the second most southerly track over South America on record (behind Bert 1993)
Julia also become the second deadliest “South American” hurricane in history
ian beats irma (67B compared to abt 50B)
@@joeisreallife7729 Actually Ian’s exact cost is currently unknown. Estimated “at least” at 50B with some estimates up to 67B and one estimate even up to 100B. As such it is best to go with the lowest amount for now (That’s why I said “and likely to surpass Irma”)
Don’t forget the 2 crossovers into the EPAC.
this hurricane season is the exact definition of
*it only takes one*
Ehhh. 1992 is a better example
No not really
Ian Fiona Julia, it took three
@@Spagine so is a cat 5 showing damage better than 3 notable storms?
Try to understand it's Hurricane Ian with 50 Billion in damages
I am surprised the name Bonnie hasnt been retired since in 1998 Hurricane Bonnie made a high end Cat 3 bordering on Cat 4 landfall in the Carolinas before weakening and then reintensifying back to a Cat 3 and smashed Virginia. I think its overshadowed by Georges and the infamous Mitch.
Lol imagine getting hit by a cat 5 I definitely didnt drive to pine island 😅
Update : The WMO have retired the names “Fiona” and “Ian” , replacing them with “Farrah” and “Idris”
Bonnie went to get the milk
just wait till 2023 when we get the tier 3 names
I thought damage from Ian was 103 billion
Is Hurricane Ian (2022) Really a Category 5 Storm?
Probably not
Will probably be upgraded if the freaking NHC notices it...
It's upgraded to Category 5 now
@@UniversusVasator probably yes
