    Lyrics:
    [Verse 1]
When I was six years old I broke my leg
I was running from my brother and his friends
And tasted the sweet perfume of the mountain grass I rolled down
I was younger then, take me back to when I
    [Pre-Chorus 1]
Found my heart and broke it here
Made friends and lost them through the years
And I've not seen the roaring fields in so long, I know I've grown
But I can't wait to go home
    [Chorus]
    I'm on my way
Driving at 90 down those country lanes
    Singing to "Tiny Dancer"
And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real
We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill
    [Verse 2]
Fifteen years old and smoking hand-rolled cigarettes
Running from the law through the backfields and getting drunk with my friends
Had my first kiss on a Friday night, I don't reckon that I did it right
But I was younger then, take me back to when
    [Pre-Chorus 2]
We found weekend jobs, when we got paid
We'd buy cheap spirits and drink them straight
Me and my friends have not thrown up in so long, oh how we've grown
But I can't wait to go home
    [Chorus]
    I'm on my way
Driving at 90 down those country lanes
    Singing to "Tiny Dancer"
And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real
We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill
    [Bridge]
One friend left to sell clothes
One works down by the coast
One had two kids but lives alone
    One's brother overdosed
One's already on his second wife
    One's just barely getting by
    But these people raised me
And I can't wait to go home
    [Chorus]
And I'm on my way, I still remember
    These old country lanes
When we did not know the answers
And I miss the way you make me feel, it's real
We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill
Over the castle on the hill

It's so fun to watch an all american guy (at least seems that way), apparently influenced by punk rock a lot, singing a folksy irish song. The contrast is pretty cool. Well pulled off.

Great cover bro! Definitely subscribing! I have a question about your setup! You run the RC-30 into an interface, right? And if so, thats just done by connecting them with the quarter inch cable right? Also, do you run your microphone into an XLR port on the interface or through the RC-30 itself? I have just ordered an RC-30 with an XLR mic, but I don't have an interface yet... I want to record loops into my recording software on my computer to get better sound quality than just a mic on an amp. So if you could explain your setup and how you record into the computer that would be amazing dude. Thank you tons.

    • @theendingtothisstory
      @theendingtothisstory  7 років тому +1

Hey, I do use an interface to connect my RC-30 and vocal mic to my computer. I use a Digidesign 002 but any interface that works with your DAW (i.e. ProTools, Garageband, Cubase, Audacity etc.) will work just fine. As far as the signal flow goes, I go out from my guitar and through my pedal board. The last effects pedal it goes through is my RC-30. From the RC-30 I go into an active D.I. which changes the instrument line level to mic level. From the D.I. I then go into my interface which has four channels (I typically plug my guitar signal into ch. 2). You do not need a D.I. but it helps keep some of the brightness and clarity I find with Acoustic guitars so that step could be skipped. My main vocal mic just plugs directly into my interface (Typically into Ch. 1). If I am looping vocals in my cover I will have a second mic that plugs into the RC-30 via XLR. That mic signal is merged in the RC-30 with the guitar signal carried though the D.I. and out to the interface. Hope that helps you out :) I will be doing a video soonish showing in detail how I hook everything up to do these covers so stayed tuned for that as well.

I record into a very old version of ProTools haha I think its 7.4?

  • @lorxsbot2399
    @lorxsbot2399 7 років тому +1

How do you record yourself. Like the audio. Is it through an external mic or recorded straight into your pc in a thing like logic or summin? Plz. Would be very helpful

    • @theendingtothisstory
      @theendingtothisstory  7 років тому +1

I use an interface (digidesign 002) which allows me to plug mics/intruments etc into my computer. I come out of my guitar pedals and go into an active D.I. before heading into the interface. The main vocals are plugged directly into the interface. Then I use in-ears which are using the headphone out so I don't get any bleed from external speakers into my mic as I have them muted. I use ProTools as my DAW (digital audio workstation).
