Digable Planets are from the conscious rap era and were ahead of their time. I like their song, " Where I'm from ". Your generation would called them "woke". I was blessed to see them on their reunion tour in July 2016 and they still can flow. 7/5/2016
I always loved how each lyric began with a different pronoun (He, Them, Us, You, He, She, Our, They, etc) and then different anchor words (Who, Where, Why, When, What, How, etc).
FUN FACT: There were Asian band members in the video as a shout out to the world, especially the Far East, accepting Jazz as an art form before it was accepted in America!
I don't usually do this but I thought it would be cool to know, if you didn't, since you like Coko, lead singer from SWV. She has a son with Butterfly from this group, which is the first guy rapping. He was also rapping at the end of the video you reacted to by Camp-lo as a feature. The female rapper Ladybug has a song with Snoop that samples a line she said in one of their songs and also features E-40 & others. The last guy Doodlebug, I haven't seen anywhere but in a cameo from the FLAVA IN YA EAR rmx video. I think you'd like THE BLAST by Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek even for just your personal listening😁🔥
An extra chilly most track from Digable Planets ( Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Mariana "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira & Craig "Doodlebug" Irving). Ishmael Butler was a high school basketball star in Seattle at Garfield HS from 1985-87 where his team won back to back State championships. He earned a basketball scholarship to the University of Massachusetts.
I'll always remember this song! My daughter was about 9mths and every time this song came on she would stop WHATEVER she was doing and just stare at the radio until the song went off. It was weird. She was mesmerized by this beat!! Ahhhh...love the 90s!!😍😍😍
There are two groups who I feel greatly distance themselves from their contemporaries, this group here, Digable Planets and the other was Loose Ends. Well done .🤛🏽
Please react to FREEDOM theme from Panther by Various Artists (women singers and rappers). Please check out the 9.22 minute version because its better and has both rapping and singing. Thanks Shawny 💜😁😎

It's like floating in a lake of verbal mocha with melodic cream cascading over your body.
The guy that does the 1st verse has a son that raps and goes by the name Lil Tracy. His mother is Coko, lead singer of SWV.
He can sing too right?
Wow did not know that! Thanks
Yep! The light skin ninja from Shai took her from him 😂😂😂
They were in a class of their own. Fusing jazz & hip hop... Brilliant! Another reaction suggestion from Digable Planets is- 9th Wonder.
Right ✅

they were undeservingly mocked and dissed back when they came out.
We had some quality hip hop back in the day. I miss it.
They won Grammy for that song
They deserved it

Hearing songs like this, really make me miss the 90s!
That Era was great! 😎😄💕
And yes, it’s pronounced “Dig a bul” 😉
I love the way LadyBug said “I’m Black like that” it was so sexy!
Dang. You've actually heard every song!
Jazz infused hip Hop was a big thing in those days. Digable planets and A tribe called quest led the way..
90s hip hop was heavily influenced by what they grew up listening to in the 60s and 70s. Man I love it allll 💙🔥
DIG-A-BUL Planets ... 😂❤❤❤
Classic! And you cool like dat👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Back when I used to snowboard semi pro this was the tune in my ears when I raced. I won more than I lost.
Where I’m From & Nickel Bags are classics from them as well!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

To this day, this is still one of my favorite beats... For those who don't remember, the original Spider-Man theme song is played with the trumpets.

I love this video and song because it shows how people can come together. You couldn't make this video today.
Honest truth I used to hate this song growing up it got more catchy with me as I got older lol
