Agreed! I love listening to these on long car rides; his narration is awesome. I just suggested to him that if Netflix actually does option a live action series, we petition to get The Cybrarian hired as narrator!
Just finished listening to this during a long, drive on cold, late, winter night. What an excellent reading. The effect used by the narrator to change the sound of his voice to reflect the thoughts in Conan's head as sees that the ruins have grown back into a city, created an incredible atmosphere. Really concentrates the mind. Just an awesome read. I listen to all this guys posts.
At 54:00 I literally sat up in my chair listening . I've read the story at lest 10 times and never has it been so thrilling. Felt almost like I was there. So well read. Love these. Many thanks.
I have just discovered the Cybrarian and through your amazing audio books the beautiful prose and genius vision of Howard and the original Conan tales! I can see where George R R Martin got a lot of his style and inspiration from!
Thank you for a wonderful reading. I particularly enjoyed how you brought each character to life through a individual tone of voice . That's a really great skill. Keep up your wonderful work. 😊❤❤🤝🏼💙💙😊
Fantastic work! I loved your reading of The Tower of the Elephant and had just had to go through them all after that! I can't wait for what you record next! Keep it up!
The first series of books I ever pursued every one I could get my hands on Howard or no made me go looking for more and introduced me to Bran , Solomon, Kull and a whole lot more truly Robert E. Was a great spinner of yarns Hoooaaahhh
This tale is being considered for remastering as we've done to some of our other tales before. It'll make the audio clearer, add new music and cast a female for the female voice parts.
A fine job of narration and a fine production overall. One minor whine though; while Howard may have "cardboard" in the original text, I say change that to "...as if stick built". Just my opinion. Thanks for the Conan reading!!
Another great telling of a classic Conan tale! You have such a wonderful gift for narration and hearing your voice giving life to the descriptions of scenery, characters, and events helps bring it to life even more than reading the stories does. Thank you again for your amazing work! As an aside, while I actually really enjoyed the Jason Momoa Conan film and though it was just a fun, episodic romp like many of the original short stories, I had the thought while listening to this telling of "The Devil In Iron": New Zealand actor Manu Bennett would make an AMAZING older Conan, especially his adventures around and after he claims the Aquilonian throne. Please just picture him in a live-action "Scarlet Citadel". And I know I'm typecasting a lot because of The Mummy series, but really, Arnold Vosloo would kill it as Tsotha-lanti; if you have any doubt about his dramatic abilities, watch "Blood Diamond". He stole the movie out from under Leo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou
@@hebanker3372 that's true, he would definitely be the shortest live-action Conan, but then Hollywood has always been good at using trick photography, forced perspective, and even things like step stools and boxes out of frame (Demolition Man lol) to make an actor appear larger. Also, Arnold is "only" 6'2" but like Bennett in Spartacus, his sheer physicality and presence really carried the role. There's a lot of the same, often self-contradictory complexity in Crixus as there is in Conan.
@@johnswoboda9809 Well Arnie wasn't a good Conan either.Don't get me wrong, the first Conan film is great, but Arnie wasn't anything like the literaly barbarian(since Arnie is Austrian, germanic stock,he should be a Hyborian, not a Cimmerian). He was cast because of his physique. I think they need to find an actual actor for Conan and then train him for a year or two so he can be muscular.Plus,Bennet is in his 50s,which would strain him badly to become so muscular. The guy who plays Jack Reacher in the new series could be a good choice.
Thank you Cybrarian for heart and great production, presentation and illustration. Very professional. The narration puts one right in the midst of the story ; like in an operatic symphony of the Multi-verse each and every time. Thank you so much. Mario SIrSirReal Villarreal.

This is good, and accomplishes what it seeks to do. But I'd like abridged versions (no longer than 30 minutes). I remember listening to Disney read along, and I wish there were adult versions of abridged stories. Since one listens for a different purpose to reading.
I know what you mean, the 'dramatised' Lord of the Rings on BBC radio was excellent but it heavily reduced the 3 books into about 13 hours keeping to characterisation but removing a lot of narration.
Another great reading and rendition of my favorite barbarian. Love these I’m so glad I discovered them I’m telling everybody I know about this. Any chance you can do other Roberty Howard characters such as Cormac McCarthy, call, or Solomon Kane? Thanks again great uploads.
@@TheCybrarian I appreciate your reply and thank you again for these Conan episodes. As a lovecraft fan I notice the sharing of motifs. Power to your Howardian channel!!!!!
@@TheCybrarian You have to take old writing with the good and the bad. Times change. Pretty sure meat eaters or gas consumers will be vilified 100 years from now.
More prejudice than racism. Howards writings were actually more toned down than his contemporaries, like Lovecraft, who obviously viewed certain races as superior. In Howards world, no race is 'superior' unless technologically like the Stygian's (Egyptians) otherwise each race is usually a cut out of every other person from that race (which was actually more true in ancient times than today, where there was no real melting pot countries of today)
It felt as if I was there, transported to another time and place. You have a rare gift, thank you.
you're very welcome
I think Robert E. Howard would had approved. You really have a rare gift in your narrative skills.

Yours is the best narration for Conan and Kane I've run across. You also do very well pronouncing the names in the stories. Kudos.

Robert E Howard was the best!
It's a pity he died so young.
He chose fear, anger or each in the end. A perverse psyche. His mocking tones the evidence to it prior.

i know, we're still looking, that's why we don't do stories with large female parts yet
