He will never be granted parole, this sentence is standard for all serial killers and they've never been granted parole before, so I don't see this being any different.
In Canada, we have a classification for serial killers known as “dangerous offender” status, basically it means they are psychopaths without remorse, they will almost certainly never be released or at least until they are no longer physically capable of causing any harm. There are only about a dozen or so criminals in the country with the status, so it’s basically a unappealable life sentence, no one will ever release him and he will will serve consecutive sentences meaning that he will serve 25x8 years, once he has done his first 25 he can appeal for parole. He’s never getting out, unless a series of judges make very poor decisions.

How could anyone be eligible for parole in 25 years after murdering eight individuals? The Canadian justice system is notoriously weak and has always favored criminals.
I just finished watching someone killed a rapper in robbery/home invasion and got 4 years (he pleaded guilty for manslaughter). The system is broken everywhere!
He will be eligble to apply for parole in 25 years, not released. Highly unlikely he would ever be given parole so will spend the remainder of his life behind bars.
I have a friend who lived in the village, he said was an open secret that there was a serial killer running around the community and picking off men in the area but because most of the victims didn't seem all that important to the police and because these men were very closeted from their families, as they're just friends. it was very hard to even get the police to talk to them let alone investigate the disappearances.
I lost count of the similarities between Bruce McArthur and John Wayne Gacy. Similar backgrounds, similar M.O., similar use of polite society to deflect suspicion, similar use of children (one was Santa, the other was a clown), similar uses of their businesses as part of their crimes, plus their vocations were nearly identical, similar shame brought on by their fathers, both married when they began killing, both highly thought of in their communities, on and on. It makes me wonder whether these are identifiable patterns, regarding what happens if an entire society forces sexual repression on someone for decades. Seems like there's some valuable information here.

From what I gather by reading the other comments, it's to do with the way the Canadian legal system operates, on paper. Officially, their criminal justice code doesn't have a statute for life imprisonment like the American implementation of it exists. Unofficially though, the parole board is going to just keep stamping "DENIED" on this guy's documents before he even comes in the room at his parole consideration hearings for the rest of his life, which in practice basically results in the same thing: he stays in prison until the day he dies because he's never granted parole. Personally, I'm not sure I buy that operational doctrine, but as long as the parole board plays along and never seriously thinks twice about ever freeing the disgusting chickenshit, then I guess it's "good enough".
@@TheShockwaveDragon We have a similar system in Australia. There's a case going on at the moment for two guys who committed multiple murders together - one appealed and was denied, the other one never bothered to appeal. In the second story, the woman had bad intentions of extorting money from his sugar daddy but the latter chose to do something extreme to remedy his problem. They are both to blame for the bad outcome of their transactional relationship.
The murder of Georgina in part II is clearly about her as a murder victim and an attempt by Georgina to extort the murderer. They had a twisted business agreement to which they both agreed, Georgina was the first one to plan a criminal act, but the murderer beat her to it.
I really am struggling to find sympathy for Georgina they were both scum. Extorting and blackmailing people is often not a good idea it ends in this very result. The doctor trying to pretend she didn't consent because she was a 24 year old adult that willingly went into sex work is ridiculous, she chose that path before he came along to make easy money from grotesque men and wanted to take advantage of men and happened to come upon a psychopath. Bruce MacArthur looks like anyone’s grandfather, father and neighbor one could count on. When I see videos like this, it reminds me of my younger days, I think about how lucky I had been for many years. I was footloose and fancy-free traveling all over the country, even went overseas for a time. Eligible for parole after 25 years for eight murders? And I thought Los Angeles was the king of leniency to criminals.
Canadian serial killer Paul Bernardo was given life(25 yrs) he's been continously denied. Just because a pervert is given 25 yrs does not mean an actual 25 years and then you're out.
California has the most incarcerated people of any state in the US, the country with the highest incarceration rate in the world.
