1:51 that’s a fact for every denomination except for the 5 dollar bill, which has two watermarks, a giant 5 on the right and a row of small 5’s on the left
For tourists since about 20 years ago, money changers had been avoiding this bill due to the amount of fakes in circulation. Nowadays, smaller denominations are also avoided. Many currencies got affected. Change your currencies at places with receipt proofs that points to themselves as the source. Banking and finance paper-trails concept.
Thing I dont get is they add all these security features but the old 100s are still in circulation. So if someone was counterfeiting money. Why not just make the old ones and not even bother trying to bypass all these new features?
Magnetic ink is used to print bills $5 and up. To detect if magnetic ink is used, buy a rare earth or neodymium magnet (approx. $3 at Harbor Freight). Hold the magnet about 1/16 in. from the bill and you should be able to make the bill move up and down without touching the bill, if it is legit.
If you didn’t know already, there’s actually red and blue fibers in the paper over the water mark. That’s another security feature my boss told me. I work at in n out
The best tell is to see if the guy handing you the money is trying to distract you while you're checking the bills. The security threads are also the hardest feature to counterfeit. Watermarks and color shifting are easily defeated.
Seems like there should be laws that cashiers and store owners with proper credentials, should not be held responsible for counterfeit bills, and should have the government reimburse them, if on good faith, they received a fake bill. Cashiers and store owners should not be punished.
Ehh idk about that. I mean in theory it sounds good. But what's to stop people from abusing that, and turning their own counterfeit money into real money through this process? It's really not all that hard to make sure the bill is real. They even make countertop machines that I would recommend a store get if they are concerned with or having a lot of instances of counterfeits. amzn.to/40H55n4 amzn.to/3YZXMpe Just my thoughts on that.
Interesting note: We use a machine at our shop, but the ink from the bills never fully dry. You can take an old bill, put it on white paper, use your fingernail and scratch the bill and the ink will come off on the white paper. This will not happen with a printed currency.
You can’t spend gold or silver like money. You are the dumbest person ever to say that. Gold is also too malleable to carry if you drop gold it flattens it’s also not durable. Silver actually tarnishes and loses value because of that. Paper money and coin money is easier to carry and use. American paper money is the most durable paper money in the world. No other country has paper money more durable than the United States has. It’s becoming more difficult to counterfeit U.S. paper bills. All other countries paper money is easily counterfeited.
You are somewhat incorrect. Congress has the authority to mint gold and silver coins. They don't do so. The paper notes are issued by the Federal Reserve Bank, created by Congress but separate from the government.
I thought you would compare the fake 100 bill with this real one, to see what it would show on the water mark with the fake one. You explained well though on the real one.
Do we need to check all these things before accepted. Avording to me dress sense, clear watermark, blue color fiber stick, and ub light are enough, which four point are your recommendation.
Not necessarily. But to be 100% sure it’s definitely recommended to check at least a few. I would say if you have the security strip that reads the right denomination and it reacts to the UV the color it should be , then it’s pretty certain it is real. I just show a bunch of different ways for the people that want to know ALL the ways to check
You really dont need a blacklight to see the “100 usa” black line just simply hold it up to a light whether its your ceiling light or flash light or whatever light you have and you should see it
That is correct. The point in me showing that however was to show another of the security features, which is that that strip in each denomination bill will illuminate a different color under the black light

I have a $100 bill but on the back it has Franklin full face. I see his eyes, hair, nose, eyebrows, even his collar. It’s just like the front of the bill. Is this a error bill?
Could be an error or a fake. Hard to tell without seeing it myself. It’s not the watermark you are talking about, and not just seeing the front portrait through the bill? It’s actually printed again on the back? If you upload a quick video on here, or send me it on instagram or Snapchat I could take a look. All those socials are on my UA-cam channel banner

Few years ago i visited our daughter in America taking $9,000 with me but thought i would just get 90 $100 bills to save space in my wallet. What a mistake to make...... none of the shops would touch them so my daughter ended up changing them at her bank!
How to see the counterfeit printing process? IDK but bleaching the numbers on a $1 to make it $100 makes me want to see how they are doing it. These videos are old so are they still doing it?
There is another one that in black small writing says for movie production only. my friend got a fake fifty with this and now displays it at the cash register.
@@RobSomeKnowledge If they bleach it there will be a watermark because where I work we got a counterfeit $50 bill and it had all the security features and was on the real paper but the watermark was backwards. So be careful!
Well, the thing is though, someone who is printing fake money, could print anything they want to on it, so even a fake bill could say "One Hundred Dollars". Thats why its important to be able to tell the authenticity of the materials used. i.e the feel of the paper, the raised inking, the holographic blue strip...
Pretty much all of the security features are on the front of the bill or embedded within (watermark and security thread). There are little goldish yellow 100’s on the back of the bill on the left and right of the phrase “In God We Trust” but I feel like those could easily be printed on by a counterfeiter, as they aren’t color shifting ink or anything special. I covered all of the most common ways to detect in this video
Rob here is the best way my father taught me... paper money in the united states of America the ink will never dry. pull out your oldest or newest bill.. using a piece of white paper then place the bill on it holding the bill with your finger nail scratch a line on the white paper and you will see green ink where you scratched the line....

And at the up right hand corner where there’s a letter like the B2 you have on this bill . The number indicates which letter in the alphabet the letter falls on .
Few years ago i visited our daughter in America taking $9,000 with me but thought i would just get 90 $100 bills to save space in my wallet.
What a mistake to make...... none of the shops would touch them so my daughter ended up changing them at her bank!
@ 3:41, the counterfeit detection pen will be defeated by hair spray. It is a waste of time and money.
Couple months ago, I found a $100 bill in a park. I thought it had to be fake, but it’s real! Who loses a c-note? I would be pissed off if I lost one.
How to see the counterfeit printing process? IDK but bleaching the numbers on a $1 to make it $100 makes me want to see how they are doing it. These videos are old so are they still doing it?
Of course they are, I'm sure you can find some demonstrations of it on UA-cam, just gotta do some searching
I have one like this that got rejected by my ATM. It has all the security features you mentioned. I don't understand why it got rejected.
The problems is the atm.
Straight to the point thanks
Thank you. Your video made a difference for me. I appreciate you.
Awesome video, did you do a video with the older style 100 dollar bills?
I have some in my wallet right now but do not currently have a video up. Will try to get that filmed and uploaded soon!
Very helpful! Thank you!
There is another one that in black small writing says for movie production only. my friend got a fake fifty with this and now displays it at the cash register.
Thank you, this is just what I needed!
i can barely work out how to double side my printing let alone print to the level of finesse required to counterfeit something
Does a fake 100$ have portrait watermark?
No
@@RobSomeKnowledge If they bleach it there will be a watermark because where I work we got a counterfeit $50 bill and it had all the security features and was on the real paper but the watermark was backwards. So be careful!
Did it have the correct security features tho? Like did the security strip read $50. Or was it another denomination on the security strip
@@RobSomeKnowledge No, It was a $50 bill security strip so it almost passed the test.
👍👍👍❤❤❤Thanks telling . 🙏
Thanks for the Video!! Just awesome brother... needed it. Thx.
in addition to that, the real bill will say "one hundred dollars" on the back instead of just saying "one hundred"
Well, the thing is though, someone who is printing fake money, could print anything they want to on it, so even a fake bill could say "One Hundred Dollars". Thats why its important to be able to tell the authenticity of the materials used. i.e the feel of the paper, the raised inking, the holographic blue strip...
A real bill will say “one hundred dollars” on the back instead of just saying “lotta wacky cash.”
Is there something we should keep our eyes focused on the reverse side that might give a fake bill away?
Pretty much all of the security features are on the front of the bill or embedded within (watermark and security thread). There are little goldish yellow 100’s on the back of the bill on the left and right of the phrase “In God We Trust” but I feel like those could easily be printed on by a counterfeiter, as they aren’t color shifting ink or anything special. I covered all of the most common ways to detect in this video
Rob here is the best way my father taught me... paper money in the united states of America the ink will never dry. pull out your oldest or newest bill.. using a piece of white paper then place the bill on it holding the bill with your finger nail scratch a line on the white paper and you will see green ink where you scratched the line....
oh by the way i searched down your comments and did not see this way
Would the ink of the pen be removed?
No it doesn’t really come off normally
Excuse me sir but could you tell me the 100$ bill that you showing in this video real or fake ? I hope you will reply me 🙏🏻
Its real
Thank you for uploading this video i have a small school business and its hard to tell what money is fake or real for me and this video really helped me out :D

OK, so I knew everything else in regards to the pen and the black light and little notes with the bell but I learned something completely new today with the Benjamin Franklin shoulder. I never knew that his shoulder was texturized 😅😭
Honestly, I think that's the most common one
I work at a shoe store, today a customer tried paying for shoes with a fake $100 bill. I nearly took the cash without really looking at it until one of my co workers actually noticed by just looking at it
Are they in jail?
I have seen reports of fake money from atm machines and sometimes even the bank from a teller.
There are devices along the highway, a type of machine that you can find on interstate highways that are along the side of the highways, they could actually detect $100 bills. P, S, they can also tell how many of those $100 bills are there? I'm just saying.
If you can run a paper clip thru the 100 bill the blue strip has 33 white tabs is it real of fake ?
Well I'll bring it to the bank or station
What do you mean by 33 White tabs?
good to know, thank you
I had that old 100 dollar bill how to exchange this?
Now ppl know how to make even better counterfeit money cause u taught them
Oh sure like people have raised ink printers and holographic strips laying around, with the ability to make watermarks.
I check mines passed all test but got no pen or light to check it if it passed all the physical test shoul i assume its legit ??
Yeah most likely. If it’s got the watermark and legit security strip with the right things printed on the strip you most likely good to go!
I should have known it was too good to be true. Last night, while walking my dog., I came across a ragged, torn $100 bill lying on top of the snow. This afternoon, i just got embarrassed at the store that I have shopped at for years, when the lady waiting on me, laughed and said it was FAKE! Hell, now I'm afraid to go back and shop there again. So i got home and did what i should have done first, find out if it was real before I went shopping.
You were lucky you did not ended like George Floyd!
If you put salt with drop water on the real it will make noise from the reaction of the paper and salt. Your Welcome 🙏
Few if any people are going to follow through with your suggestion in front of a customer.
The bill's should also have small red & blue fibers
Thank you for this vedio
I just want to know if the dollar has an a pen mark on it is acceptable in market
Yes it is still acceptable
You forgot to mention at least 2 things. The colored flakes jn the paper and the 100 printing ink that shifts the color when you tilt the bill. Great video anyways!
He mentioned everything....
Mr. Moon from The Untouchables would have tried to work over such barriers. That foreign guy used a bill to go to an opera. He got the death penalty. Strangled to death.
Wonder what the water faucet on the upper left screen is.
Its just a video watermark, of my logo, just makes it super easy to identity if people just try to steal and reupload my video on their channel.
@@RobSomeKnowledgethank you so much for responding to such a mundane question!❤
Very nice and helpful.👍
Hello, I have a $100 Dollar bill like yours, mine has a very small tree on the right upper corner. I wonder how much it could be worth, I have not seen another.
Small tree? Not really sure. Can you upload a quick video of it so I can check it out?
Not sure if you got comments already but there’s infrared strips on the back also
Not sure what you are speaking of exactly, care to elaborate? Are you talking about the strip I showed in the video, but just viewed from the back side of the bill? I don't see any other infrared sensitive security features.
no red and blue threads?
also on the collar of ben's coat there is mini print you must have a jeweler's loupe to see and it must be "The United States of America".
WOW that's cool 👌 thanks 4 the the tip I'll look into that awesome better to have real money then getting into trouble having fake money be safe out there I give you a thumbs up 👍
Glad it helped. Thanks for the thumbs up it helps a lot!
Rob Some Knowledge I give you a thumbs up👍
There is a very tin fine print right below the collar of the person saying "the United States of America" it needs so much attention to be seen or a magnifier Maybe
73,73€
+ 14,99 €
Here's the price for me of that (exact same) UV lantern, so that you know.
Thank u very much for a very helpful info.

Wo, it's so cool but.anyway that's too hard to print, heheheheh❤❤❤❤
Hi - I’m a video producer for Insider and we’re making a video about counterfeit $100 bills. Would it be okay to use about 5-10 seconds of this video if we credited your account in the credits? Please let me know, thank you so much!
Yeah, go ahead!
@@RobSomeKnowledge Great, thank you so much!
Last I knew, the paper had a ribbon embedded in it with the dollar value printed on it.
Well I mean if someone is paying with a bank note and it doesn’t have a water mark that’s really your first and only sign you need
