- Man vs Robot - Who CUT the MOST Grass?! Wright ZK Autonomous Zero Turn Mower vs ME on Wright ZXT! Let me just say, this zero turn mower is CRAZY! It can cut grass while I run the string trimmer or while I mow the lawn on another zero turn mower. It doesn't get tired. It doesn't need breaks. And it just goes out there every single day and gets the job done! What do you guys think of this crazy autonomous zero turn mower?! Do you have them in your area? In my life time never thought I would see a mower not only cut grass but when it’s done drive itself in the truck and turn itself off, that’s crazy
There’s a little behind the scenes to that, but it’s pretty crazy nonetheless! When I first started my lawn care business 22 years ago, I never thought this would be a thing! But here we are live in the Lawn Care Life in Mowssouri…
Life is always so much easier when you have two instead of one. Plus you don’t have to worry about following it around to make sure it’s doing what it’s supposed to be doing. Granted, it may be pricey at first, but it will quickly pay for itself in no time.
I think it would be a solid investment for those with the right lawns to mow. Just send it out there and let it do it's thing while you do something else...
Advantage: No sick days no-show, no workman's comp from lifting that 2 pound stick, no bit*hing, no hiding from the boss shooting the breeze marking time, you don't have to drive 20 miles to pick them up and take them home each day cause their mamma's car broke down, you don't have to feed em or buy them a beer at the end of the day. Plus, the robot will listen to you without judgement, no matter what you say. :)

This was good Cameron, I tried one of these. It’s very useful if you have a lot of large properties, which i think you do. I have 109 properties but mine are mostly small, many I can cut with a weedeater. You obviously made the right choice, that thing will pay itself off in no time.

Sure wish you would cover the hands on of programming the parameters , how many cut passes, if you can store the pattern for future ues on the same piece of land, that sort of thing.

It would definitely be a big help . You could get the hard to reach areas by hand or on another mower and just that thing go while you did something else. I would love to have it as my helper.

Ever since I started spraying it's hard to get back on a mower! 😅 glad i have such a great team! They handle all of our mowing/landscaping while I spray all the properties and have 3 guys spraying with me full time! Running 4 z sprays 12 hours a day 6 days a week!

I know you used to run Ferris, and thats all I have. I demoed a Wright last year and liked it. Which mower do you prefer and why?
I think it really comes down to your preference and dealer support. Our dealer carries both Ferris and Wright. Just waited a month on back ordered parts from Ferris. Wright has had a very quick turn around time on parts. I feel like the Wright mowers are designed with every detail in mind. Very solid mowers. They've been reliable so far. They handle well and cut great. Really no complaints at all with the Wright mowers. I've had lots of issues with the Ferris mowers since I've had them and always had to wait a while on parts. But both mowers will get the job done, just really depends on dealer support for me. I have to be up and running and making money.

Cameron's far from the truck, mowing till his heart's desire, and then it happens. Skynet became self-aware and the mower encouraged his truck to lock him out. Then, the autonomous mower loads itself, and the the truck drives away without Cameron and his manned mower. As Cameron sits there on his mower in the middle of the pasture scratching his head, his manned mower advises him to please step off and back away. Cameron, being the cautious and somewhat suspicious man he is, dismounts his mower and backs away. The manned mower, no longer manned, drives off to meet up with his truck and autonomous mower and they all three have a good laugh about it, while Cameron is seen standing alone in the middle of the pasture. Cameron was last seen returning to the retail outlet where he purchased the autonomous mower, and it is rumored, he was trying to exercise his factory warranty with little to no success.
Cameron now works in a nonprofit organization for landscapers with PTSD and manages 4 lemonade stands for young girls fired from the Girl Scouts of America for fraudulent and misleading marketing trying to dupe the public into believing they used Meyer Lemons in their lemonade, but actually used Mexican bitter lemons imported from China.
All of this becasue Cameron decided to buy an autonomous mower. I think Cameron needs a timeout.
Sorry that I haven't responded, I've been in timeout. I'm finally allowed to go back out into the unknown. Where the grass grows green and the stripes are laid. I'm not sure which mower they will let me use this year, but hopefully it won't get me in trouble again. My box truck finally made it's way back home. It sat out in the shop for weeks with the battery unhooked. I didn't know if I could trust it again, but every day I went out there and talked to it about the past. I still have trust issues to this day. Will it stay? Will it leave me stranded holding my string trimmer? No one knows for sure. But I will continue on. I will wake up every single morning, grab a cold glass of sweet tea, and walk out to the shop and have a talk with it. I still haven't seen the autonomous mower again. But rumor has it, that it's planning to come back for the season. Part of me believes that it will while part of me knows that it will probably just let me down. There's a lot of uncertainty here in Mowssouri. You don't know what to believe. You could go look for something shiny and new. But like they say...the grass isn't always greener on the other side...

Can you alternate directions with the autonomous mower?
Oh yeah. You can easily switch up the stripe pattern in the app. Just tap a few buttons and you can change it to any degree that you would like. Good question!

I ALWAYS want to see an operator on a mower. This is cool to see, but eventually something will fail and one of these buggers will hurt someone or something.
