This setup is great to have. The 90d produces some great images, and can be used in almost every scenario. The dynamic range is pretty good as well for a crop sensor. Also, the sigma lens is very sharp and it can be used for video or photo, that’s what makes it so great. Good content,
I own the same combo, and let's just say I'm enjoying this match. I've been doing a ton of street photography and UA-cam videos (until uni got hard and I had to temporarily stop) ever since I got this combo, and I love it!
I purchased the 90D and paired it with this lens in no small part to this video. 😊 I am still very much an amateur and I love how this combo gives me excellent results. People comment on my family photos, especially when set to f1.8! In a world where everyone is claiming that you need to go mirrorless, I love that I can get such wonderful photos on a modest budget. It’s still over $2,000 for this combo but SO worth it!
@@sbromley6739 The lens' flange distance is corrected for the smaller sensor size. No need to take the 1.6x crop into account for this particular lens. The lens is for the EF mount but the actual flange distance is made for EF-S. Otherwise you'd get no vignetting with full-frame R series cameras when using the 24mm adapter (normal flange distance for EOS-D series is 44mm. R series is 20mm).
I'm using this exact combo. Great photo! I actually like the weight of the lens as it somehow compensate my hand shaking (yes, additional weight can somehow mitigate the problem, at least it works for me). The only problem is 90D body is way too small and every time I press the shutter my right hand fingers movement make the camera move a bit and hence make the photo not sharp enough. I have to put a pack of tissue between my right palm and the right side of 90D so that my right index finger tip is right at the shutter button. I wish there's some aftermarket "fat" grip available, particularly for the even substantially smaller bodies RF mirrorless series. (I'm not talking about the battery grip, I really mean the fat grip in lateral direction which fill up the huge gap between my right palm and the right side of the camera body yet make the tip of right index finger comfortably locates on the shutter button)
How does it work for stills with no Image stabilization? I’m looking to upgrade my 77D and have the 17-55 2.8 but want som thing “better”. I’m not interested in the mirrorless as I like the robust dslr size
I absolutely love the Sigma line of lenses. I too am upgrading little by little. If you haven’t already, try the Sigma DC 18-250mm f3.5-6.3. Awesome all around lens which is light and has great range.

Hey RichMe what are your thoughts on the fact that it doesn't have Image Stabilization, I shoot video so I have some concern on the footage being shaky
Hey great lens it is, i have ordered it am just concerned about the autofocus issue which is i am primarily concerned about recalibrating don’t know how to do that and also haven’t ordered the dock for the combo. What are your thoughts did you have to recalibrate of yes then how.

Autofocus through the OVF (phase shift autofocus) is horribly off. Lots of front focusing. In-camera correction yield no reliable results. I don't have the dock, I read that sometimes helps. But I also read the autofocus on many copies of this particular lens can be quite shotty with most copies. Will take mine back to the store to have it checked proper since I am still within 30 day buying period. I really want to keep (any of these if I get a replacement, or two). The lens is really sharp (if focus in proper...) and the wide angle is just perfect for a lot of things. Especially since it's aspherical.

probably late but, the sigma lens is made for aps-c size sensors. You dont need to crop 1.6x. 18mm is 18mm not ~28mm
True focal length is indeed 18mm, however the effective field of view (FOV) is determined by the camera sensor size, which for the 90D is a 1.6X crop.

I wonder if this Combo would balance on the ronin rsc2 😵💫
What is your favorite setting for portraiture (indoor or outdoor) on this combo?
f/1.8 ALWAYS for that extreme blur :), ISO 100, F/250-1500 depending on the sun
Question- Do we need an adapter for this with the 90d or is it directly compatible?
Directly compatible
I just bought this lense, but can’t get it to attach to my body. Do you have an ef-EOS adapter?
This lens is for cropped camera's. Though the mount is EF, it should only be used for EF-S.
I have the exact same as well, and I love it.
It's truly underrated

buy a shotgun mic or another microphone!
