Out of all the ones mentioned, I’d say Juliet. She was on the island for six years before she died. She never got to see her sister or her nephew. She was only supposed to be on the island for six months but Ben kept her there. Sawyer is the next one to have deserved to get off. He was there for three years and went though a plane crash, a raft explosion, he had to jump out of the helicopter and the freighter exploded and he lost the love of his life (true love that is, not the hookup/FWB type of relationship he had with Kate)

These people survived this moment in their lives, yes. But they die eventually as they are humans who don't live forever. We don't know how or at what age they die - but they do. And in the "alternate universe" aka "purgatory" aka "a place they made together" which is a time after everyone died, they eventually remember their lives and make amends etc, and then are ready to move into the after life.
Near the end, I found that the Ajira crew, both in terms of characters and story, were the only ones I still cared (well, maybe Hurley and Ben too but they were done by the time the plane took off). It was great to watch them fly off :)

I like the fact, that Kate will be free and not in prison, so she could start a new life with Sawyer. She would have enough money for living undisturbed the first time in LAX. Also there could be( ?) a relationship to Claire and Aaron, and she could continue her friendship with Cassidy and Clementine. In the sideway life she would be still on the run or in prison- she would have NOTHING!. So she would stay on the same level as she was after the crash.
Sawyer and Kate were not a good fit for each other. They only had sexual chemistry, and way too similar. Kate and Sawyer worked so well with Juliet and Jack because they were their opposites. Also, we're forgetting that Kate violated her parole going to the island so logically she will have to face some prison time.

When the plane will arrive on the continent... what will the 6 survivors tell to the people about the fact that Richard and Miles were not on any passengers list or the fact that Claire and Sawyer were presumed dead. Maybe, Richards' organization will manage to hide what really happened on the island.
I can't remember if the scene about the grey hair was after Desmond turned the light off but i thought it was, so that was my confusion and that's why i thought the reason was the light. But Richard started aging again after Jacob burned the ashes, right?
In Lostpedia you can find both valid theories. If the ability to not age was given from the Island, the magical effects wore off when Island's cap was lifted. But I think that the gift to not age was given by Jacob, so with Jacob's death, without Jacob's power, his deal with Richard was null and he already was ageing. Besides there were no reasons for him to not want to die anymore, since he got over the guilt over Isabella's death.
I'm pretty sure the implication is that removing the Heart of the Island severed everything tied to the island. So Richard became mortal, The Smoke Monster got stuck in a human body again, etc.
I love Lost, I really do. I loved the intrigue, the mysteries, and above all the characters. But I find it oddly funny that one can easily describe it to a friend as "a plane crashes on a weird Island, then they leave on a helicopter, then they go back on another plane that lands, and then in the end they leave on the same plane, but the main guy dies to get them off". And I'm cool with that.
I find it so hard to describe this show to friends who’ve never seen it and don’t want to be spoiled. “It’s about a plane that crashes on an island” is about as far as I can go, but it really doesn’t describe the show very well 😂
The score❤ I think everyone just wishes even Jack had been on that plane with his family and friends, but he had to sacrifice himself again to protect the Island and to save all of them. LOST's costant ever was the redemption, the long and painful journey of the characters from the past selfishness to a greater purpose. That was his destiny, the free choice to live, and die, with purpose. Every character had to find their purpose, even at the cost of their own happiness. Kate lost her life's love, Claire lost the first three years of Aaron's life, James lost his soulmate, Ben lost his leadership, Hurley lost all his friends... They've all lost something, they all had to sacrifice themselves for a greater good. But they didn't go through all that misery for nothing, that's why after the death they will be rewarded with being reunited with the ones they loved. The end was very clear about characters' feelings. Writers didn't want there to be any ambiguity about the endgames. Kate left with Claire, not with James. She had to come back to Aaron and leaving Jack behind actually broke her heart. She lived her whole life missing Jack and waiting to meet him again (it's possible she even was pregnant of Jack's baby at the time).
She wanted someone to replace her, and she wanted to be allowed to die. This is why she crashed the ship, she wanted a child - but wasn't aware that there would be twins. Everyone else, she wasn't aware they were still alive until the boys stumbled upon them.
The scene with Lapidus and the take off is georgeus. The actor who played him fits perfectly- like a guardian angel! But it's so sad, that the handful passengers nearly showed no or less emotions. Imagine how AFTER 3 and more years staying there for Claire and Sawyer, also Miles -and Kate being 2 times- on the island, not to talk of Richard - how they would be lucky and laughing. The show ran 6 years for the public, who finally would like to celebrate the rescue and a satisfying end. It's so cheap from the writers to chuck a 5 minute scene , who nobody showed happiness or joy. That's a slap for fans - instead they showed a dance of death- where-ever that should be.
after a loooong time they finally get off the island without anything/anyone else to come back to!!! this is one of my favorite scenes of the finale! I miss LOST SO much! T_T
glad kate and sawyer made it out to eventually spend the rest of their lives together :) meanwhile jack is dying and envisioning being surrounded by the survivors with kate by his side
Actually wasn't just a Jack's vision. It was a real place created by all the ex-losties to meet each other again and move on together, a place outside our space-time after their death in which they could be reunited together forever. Kate and Sawyer were not able even to remember each other, would make no sense to think that they were ended up together. They were nothing but friends off the island, last scenes explicitly excluded any romantic undertones between them. The ending reaffirmed Kate's feelings for Jack and the friend-zone skate.

did you also recognize, that sawyer talked not one word with claire the whole time( except when he shouted to her on the sub- entrance) and he gave her no look- I think, he was still pissed off for ' kate being back for claire' - they had no interaction after they all were together. He never would trust her after she attacked kate. Our tick above gave herself again over twenty plus. Waiting for response , ha ha .

He came back with good hope to leave the island soon- when he heard about claire trying to kill kate, he must have been shocked about the possibility to loose Kate too- both Women in a very short time- I think, this and kates dress brought him back to reality and he wished to leave the island with her. He never trusted claire after that happened and on the mainland he surely would protect kate.. Remember, after claire's excuses - she talked with locke about the names on the wall and locke said, he needs kate again- but then may happen what happens- carte blanche for Claire. I hope they would find a good solution for Aaron.

Totally agree. I'd have traded all of the afterlife scenes for a scene of Claire reuniting with her mother. Also would have liked to see them rebuild their lives off the island. Have you seen The New Man in Charge? It's a 10 minute sequel starring Ben and featuring Hurley and Walt.
@@THE202 Yeah, I don't see them being a thing. Kate only had eyes for Jack in season 5 and 6.They were way too similar, and similar people do not make for great relationships. They had great chemistry but it was all sexual. You could see that Kate only had eyes for Jack. She only went to Sawyer when she was mad at Jack.
honestly i feel like sawyers done with kate in season 5 he was like “i was doing just fine with juliet in dharma ville untill you came” he wanted to spend the rest of his life w juliet and changed over those 3 years it seemed easier for him after kate left (as much as i love kate she used him for sex and saw no future w him unlike with jack)

@pagudi Richard's been off the island several times (visiting Locke at his home, visiting Juliet at her hospital), so obviously he has to have some sort of fake ID. Besides, he's aging now that Jacob's dead, so he won't remain with the same physical appearance like in the past.
I heard from the writers that they didn't want to portray Sawyer as heartless so soon after Juliets death. They said if there was a season 7 they would have had time for more Skate scenes but they didn't have the time and they didn't want to rush them into season 6. Sawyer maturing and becoming a better person was their actual end game for him. But that meant they couldn't keep adding in glaringly obvious Skate scenes. But there are telltale signs it was never the end for their romance. With them both being widowed, they would ultimately become more bonded and yet again take solace in each others tragedies (similar to their criminal pasts). But the easter eggs were always there. Sawyer looking at Kate, not Juliet when Rose made her speech. Sawyer clutching Kate's dress in the bear cages - even AFTER juliet had died, he STILL held fond memories for Kate. In this scene alone, check out for the signs - time stamps 2.16 Kate looks over at Sawyer but he isn't looking back. Then instantly at 2.17 the camera cuts to Sawyer, looking right, in Kate's direction. They consistently cut out them directly looking at each other on the plane because they wanted it to be less obvious. This relates back to what they said about NOT wanting to portray sawyer as heartless after spending 3 years with juliet and she had just died so tragically. The second time stamp is at 3.19. Kate is clutching Claire's hand as if to say 'it's going to be ok, we can do this' - meanwhile sawyer is looking straight at kate in the background. Also if you look at the scenes straight after the plane takes off, we get a close up of each character - all except for Sawyer. I'm assuming they cut him out not because he isn't important, but again because the scene they probably shot for him was him looking at Kate AGAIN. But they showed us all the other characters up close. It starts at 2.57, lapidus saying amen, then we see Kate and claire, then richard, then miles, then back to kate and claire again - no sawyer close up. The clues are all there. And I know everyone who is firmly against Skate will argue about the sideways universe that Sawyer and Juliet were together. Let's not forget that several of these characters were actually in love with other people but were also awoken by someone related to the island. E.g. sayids wife nadia died - yet it was Shannon who he was shown with. Libby had a husband prior to Hurley - a man who she never even had a date with, but yet people only go by these 2 as being soul mates. It's a taboo subject to consider 'who' people end up with in heaven when you could have had several life partners when you were alive. People move on quite often when their partner has died. But the writers knew the audience wouldn't have been happy with sawyer loving both kate and juliet, Jack loving both kate and sarah, or sayid loving both nadia and Shannon. It's a very flawed ending in that respect which is the only reason I don't take the sideways scenes too seriously. After all, who's to say that claire didn't also move on after she got off the island. Charlie was never her boyfriend despite them obviously having a connection. She most likely would have gone on to have a partner or husband afterwards. Aaron and Ji Yeon were shown as just babies in the sideways universe as well. We were shown what they looked like at the time of the island. Christian said it was the most important time of their lives which is why they appear the same at the time of these events. Aaron and Ji Yeon would have also gone on to have long lives and also got married, had children of their own etc. So the way I see it, is the sideways showed the characters as they WERE at the time of all of the events of the island. They are also shown who they WERE WITH at the time of the island. But it doesn't mean they didn't have a life after this. I'm sure Kate and Sawyer had a lot to talk about! Not to mention Kate had a tie to his daughter. They were always going to be in each other's lives no matter what. Kate would have had to convince Cassidy to let Sawyer see his daughter. She would have always defended him. He would have loved her more for it. He would have felt nervous about being a father, Kate who now had the experience of being a mother would have not only guided claire, but guided Sawyer.

I've been trying to understand why skate wasn't together in the church scene, when the show "wasted" so much time building their relationship, even more time than with Jate. And even after the time jump, when kate came back to the island the camera always showed juliet looking at sawyer looking at kate, she even said it herself that she changed her mind about the bomb plan because of how sawyer was still in love with kate and she would rather never have met him than to loose him to her
Basically, Kate did not deserve a noble man like Jack, he deserved someone better. Kate and Sawyer are both manipulative and criminal minded people and would have made a good pair. Women like Kate destroy relationships, better for her to align with a rough character like Sawyer.
The moment of triumph when dying Jack sees the plane pass overhead. And the moment you realize that Kate and Sawyer are taking off on the runway that they built in season 2.
How is it that, Miles, survive. A lot of people died. I thought he would have died too like Charlotte and that guy that is with Charlotte, I forgot his name
I was really glad that Miles wasn't just killed off for no reason either though. I was really expecting Miles to die at some point though, but he was really likable. Same with Frank, but I guess he was a plot device to get away from the island.
I think replacing Sayid with Miles would’ve been perfect, i like Miles but he wasn’t someone we really experienced throughout the whole time so it wasn’t as satisfying, he was more a side character
As a quick aside, one of the few frustrating loose ends I notice: if Jacob could bring anyone he wanted, then why in the world needed Ajira Flight 316 be so complicated? 1 - the plane's acceleration is too fast 2 - planes don't lift off the ground that fast. 3 - rolling left immediately after take off would cause the engine to stall.
no aircraft do not have a "a reverse gear" but they do have thrust reversers. The 737 depicted in the show did what is called a "powerback" now as a pilot myself theres alot of stuff bs with that whole landing and taking off of aljira air 737
There were 12 survivors from the original flight though, (10 if you don't count Vincent the dog and Aaron who hadn't been born by that time yet). The survivors were Sawyer, Kate, Claire, Hurley, Walt, Rose and Bernard, Cindy the flight attendant and two kids Emma and Zach.

Sawyer and Claire were both Oceanic passengers that were supposed to be dead, there is no way for any of them to explain where they were.

I love how the takeoff is accompanied by the music from when the raft launched in Season 1. That was one of my favorite scenes.

The end was very clear about characters' feelings. Writers didn't want there to be any ambiguity about the endgames. Kate left with Claire, not with James. She had to come back to Aaron and leaving Jack behind actually broke her heart. She lived her whole life missing Jack and waiting to meet him again (it's possible she even was pregnant of Jack's baby at the time).
I was sure something would happen before the plane took off, I didn't believe the show would give us a break even with these characters LOL

She wanted someone to replace her, and she wanted to be allowed to die. This is why she crashed the ship, she wanted a child - but wasn't aware that there would be twins. Everyone else, she wasn't aware they were still alive until the boys stumbled upon them.
It would have been interesting to see what happened when they all got back.
Lapidus was one hell of a character
The scene with Lapidus and the take off is georgeus. The actor who played him fits perfectly- like a guardian angel! But it's so sad, that the handful passengers nearly showed no or less emotions. Imagine how AFTER 3 and more years staying there for Claire and Sawyer, also Miles -and Kate being 2 times- on the island, not to talk of Richard - how they would be lucky and laughing. The show ran 6 years for the public, who finally would like to celebrate the rescue and a satisfying end. It's so cheap from the writers to chuck a 5 minute scene , who nobody showed happiness or joy. That's a slap for fans - instead they showed a dance of death- where-ever that should be.

Actually wasn't just a Jack's vision. It was a real place created by all the ex-losties to meet each other again and move on together, a place outside our space-time after their death in which they could be reunited together forever. Kate and Sawyer were not able even to remember each other, would make no sense to think that they were ended up together. They were nothing but friends off the island, last scenes explicitly excluded any romantic undertones between them. The ending reaffirmed Kate's feelings for Jack and the friend-zone skate.

Jack & Kate belonged together since day one. The ending is very clear and unambiguous at least about the couples and the feelings of the characters.

did you also recognize, that sawyer talked not one word with claire the whole time( except when he shouted to her on the sub- entrance) and he gave her no look- I think, he was still pissed off for ' kate being back for claire' - they had no interaction after they all were together. He never would trust her after she attacked kate. Our tick above gave herself again over twenty plus. Waiting for response , ha ha .

@@bertramsey imagine, 2or 3 days ago juliet died. Then he had to be locke' s scout. He came back with good hope to leave the island soon- when he heard about claire trying to kill kate, he must have been shocked about the possibility to loose Kate too- both Women in a very short time- I think, this and kates dress brought him back to reality and he wished to leave the island with her. He never trusted claire after that happened and on the mainland he surely would protect kate.. Remember, after claire's excuses - she talked with locke about the names on the wall and locke said, he needs kate again- but then may happen what happens- carte blanche for Claire. I hope they would find a good solution for Aaron.
@@verenamenzel4701 Kate and Sawyer will probably take custody of Aaron while Claire gets the help she desperately needs. They can't leave her alone with Aaron after the murder we saw her commit, AND her trying to kill Kate! She may SEEM like she's all better now, but that's highly unlikely! She's going to need YEARS of therapy. She'll have supervised visits with Aaron.

Totally agree. I'd have traded all of the afterlife scenes for a scene of Claire reuniting with her mother. Also would have liked to see them rebuild their lives off the island.

@@THE202 Yeah, I don't see them being a thing. Kate only had eyes for Jack in season 5 and 6.They were way too similar, and similar people do not make for great relationships. They had great chemistry but it was all sexual. You could see that Kate only had eyes for Jack. She only went to Sawyer when she was mad at Jack.
honestly i feel like sawyers done with kate in season 5 he was like “i was doing just fine with juliet in dharma ville untill you came” he wanted to spend the rest of his life w juliet and changed over those 3 years it seemed easier for him after kate left (as much as i love kate she used him for sex and saw no future w him unlike with jack)

@pagudi Richard's been off the island several times (visiting Locke at his home, visiting Juliet at her hospital), so obviously he has to have some sort of fake ID. Besides, he's aging now that Jacob's dead, so he won't remain with the same physical appearance like in the past.

I heard from the writers that they didn't want to portray Sawyer as heartless so soon after Juliets death. They said if there was a season 7 they would have had time for more Skate scenes but they didn't have the time and they didn't want to rush them into season 6. Sawyer maturing and becoming a better person was their actual end game for him. But that meant they couldn't keep adding in glaringly obvious Skate scenes. But there are telltale signs it was never the end for their romance. With them both being widowed, they would ultimately become more bonded and yet again take solace in each others tragedies (similar to their criminal pasts). But the easter eggs were always there. Sawyer looking at Kate, not Juliet when Rose made her speech. Sawyer clutching Kate's dress in the bear cages - even AFTER juliet had died, he STILL held fond memories for Kate. In this scene alone, check out for the signs - time stamps 2.16 Kate looks over at Sawyer but he isn't looking back. Then instantly at 2.17 the camera cuts to Sawyer, looking right, in Kate's direction. They consistently cut out them directly looking at each other on the plane because they wanted it to be less obvious. This relates back to what they said about NOT wanting to portray sawyer as heartless after spending 3 years with juliet and she had just died so tragically. The second time stamp is at 3.19. Kate is clutching Claire's hand as if to say 'it's going to be ok, we can do this' - meanwhile sawyer is looking straight at kate in the background. Also if you look at the scenes straight after the plane takes off, we get a close up of each character - all except for Sawyer. I'm assuming they cut him out not because he isn't important, but again because the scene they probably shot for him was him looking at Kate AGAIN. But they showed us all the other characters up close. It starts at 2.57, lapidus saying amen, then we see Kate and claire, then richard, then miles, then back to kate and claire again - no sawyer close up. The clues are all there. And I know everyone who is firmly against Skate will argue about the sideways universe that Sawyer and Juliet were together. Let's not forget that several of these characters were actually in love with other people but were also awoken by someone related to the island. E.g. sayids wife nadia died - yet it was Shannon who he was shown with. Libby had a husband prior to Hurley - a man who she never even had a date with, but yet people only go by these 2 as being soul mates. It's a taboo subject to consider 'who' people end up with in heaven when you could have had several life partners when you were alive. People move on quite often when their partner has died. But the writers knew the audience wouldn't have been happy with sawyer loving both kate and juliet, Jack loving both kate and sarah, or sayid loving both nadia and Shannon. It's a very flawed ending in that respect which is the only reason I don't take the sideways scenes too seriously. After all, who's to say that claire didn't also move on after she got off the island. Charlie was never her boyfriend despite them obviously having a connection. She most likely would have gone on to have a partner or husband afterwards. Aaron and Ji Yeon were shown as just babies in the sideways universe as well. We were shown what they looked like at the time of the island. Christian said it was the most important time of their lives which is why they appear the same at the time of these events. Aaron and Ji Yeon would have also gone on to have long lives and also got married, had children of their own etc. So the way I see it, is the sideways showed the characters as they WERE at the time of all of the events of the island. They are also shown who they WERE WITH at the time of the island. But it doesn't mean they didn't have a life after this. I'm sure Kate and Sawyer had a lot to talk about! Not to mention Kate had a tie to his daughter. They were always going to be in each other's lives no matter what. Kate would have had to convince Cassidy to let Sawyer see his daughter. She would have always defended him. He would have loved her more for it. He would have felt nervous about being a father, Kate who now had the experience of being a mother would have not only guided claire, but guided Sawyer.
Wow! Thank you a lot for this! I've been trying to understand why skate wasn't together in the church scene, when the show "wasted" so much time building their relationship, even more time than with Jate. And even after the time jump, when kate came back to the island the camera always showed juliet looking at sawyer looking at kate, she even said it herself that she changed her mind about the bomb plan because of how sawyer was still in love with kate and she would rather never have met him than to loose him to her

Basically, Kate did not deserve a noble man like Jack, he deserved someone better. Kate and Sawyer are both manipulative and criminal minded people and would have made a good pair. Women like Kate destroy relationships, better for her to align with a rough character like Sawyer.

I was really glad that Miles wasn't just killed off for no reason either though. I was really expecting Miles to die at some point though, but he was really likable. Same with Frank, but I guess he was a plot device to get away from the island.

1 - the plane's acceleration is too fast
2 - planes don't lift off the ground that fast.
3 - rolling left immediately after take off would cause the engine to stall.

no aircraft do not have a "a reverse gear" but they do have thrust reversers. The 737 depicted in the show did what is called a "powerback" now as a pilot myself theres alot of stuff bs with that whole landing and taking off of aljira air 737

She will probably be taken directly to jail if they find out she's back. They have no clue is Claires mother is still in the US or went back to Australia with Aaron. Sawyer and Claire were both Oceanic passengers that were supposed to be dead, there is no way for any of them to explain where they were.
