I know you guys are still working on fine tuning the system but I daresay this is already WAY more advanced than any of the other nature games I've ever played, and honestly it's even more than most of the games I've played period! What you guys are doing here is absolutely phenomenal, and I cannot express how much I admire your dedication to accuracy and attention to detail! This is above and beyond anything most developers would ever even dream of creating! Also, this is going to make melee freaking INSANE. There's going to be so many decisions to make in such a short period of time, and any one of them could end up being critical! (sorry guys, but you'll probably get a lot more "aaaaaAAAAAAA" from me during fights than intelligent commentary 😂). And I have to say, for as scary as that throat bite looks, honestly the thing that scares me most about this is that leg bite. You're telling me that I could be on the run from a pack of stranger wolves, only to have one of them GRAB ME BY THE LEG AND DRAG ME DOWN WHILE THE OTHERS SWARM IN TO ATTACK?? You're really not messing around! It's honestly awe-inspiring to see you guys attacking and overcoming these crazy challenges! You guys are making groundbreaking progress here, and although I must say I already consider WolfQuest to be one of the best (if not THE best) nature game out there, this will push it well into the first place. The more I see of these little behind the scenes the more I grow to love the game knowing just how hard you all work to make it something special. I've been playing since the game was first released in 2007 and seeing how much it's changed and how hard you are all aiming to make WQ3 the best version of itself really sells this as my favorite PC game. Hey! I have an idea I’ve been thinking about a lot while playing WolfQuest. Whenever im at a hunting ground or wolf territory, I constantly check the map while trying to catch scent, because I don’t know where the edges of the area are and always end up running out of it without realizing. So my suggestion would be to have some sort of scent line/barrier that tells you where the hunting grounds/wolf territory ends! Im certain that this would be really helpful. ^^
Having only watched the first 2ish minutes, I think the bites already look really good! The animals react very realistically and the attacking animal looks pretty inline with what I've seen with dogs. Their behavior looks really accurate! Obviously there are a few details to work out but it already looks so incredible! Alright gotta watch the rest of the video to see what other amazing things you've got! Edit 1. lol 6:40 is what happens when you try to fight your big brother and he just drags you along lol. You should keep that haha! It's not a bug it's a feature! Edit 2. Wow 7:32 looks really dominating! I dont know if that was the intended effect but it really looks like you're going "This is my carcass! I am the boss here, I eat first! Back. Down." So cool lol. This all looks so fantastic and I'm really interested to see how it'll go once its fully developed and you and the stranger wolf are a whirling ball of fur trying to bite each other! Real wolf battles happen so fast and then boom, they break away for a moment, and then attack again! They're in contact for such short times. I'm really excited to see that in the game!
What can I say that hasn't already been said? The way you guys have been communicating with us through these videos shows how dedicated to your players and much you appreciate us. I don't think I've know of any other games that have this much communication from developers. Most I know of don't offer any information to the players when an expected update or release of a new game is delayed. But here we get to see /why/ it takes so long. It gives everyone a greater appreciation of just how difficult it can be to work with computer graphics, especially one that is going to be as immersive as this one. The videos you release are entertaining and they help keep us all informed that development is progressing. It makes waiting easier when you can see what's going on and keeps the excitement going. Where there is little communication, players can lose interest and move on to something new, but when a game has developers like you, who truly care about its players, it earns those players' dedication. I think I speak for many when I say we cannot thank-you enough for all you do and for the time you take to communicate with us. You guys are truly amazing.
As an animator, I love seeing the technical details. I've always wanted to animate fighting and I usually work with quadrupeds and dinosaurs, which have been super tricky. Can't wait to see how WQ turns out, I used to play the first free version way back when :)

I love how you keep your fans regularly updated, unlike other games in development out there that just seem to keep quiet and drop out updates on their blogs! Best animal simulator game on the market! Maybe when development is done on this one, your team could move to LionQuest, LeopardQuest (I love african big cats) and any other quest out there! LOL! Very nice, I love the idea of more realistic fighting. This will definitely make things more fun and interesting as well as give weaker wolves a better chance because they can attack from different angles and don't have to wait and watch themselves get bitten. You guys are quite amazing, WolfQuest has taken an amazing turn! I can't wait to see the final product! :)

A few days ago I was wondering about the biting animation on Wolf Quest and then this video is uploaded, this already looks much more realistic like how I would imagine real wolves attacking each other. Also, Ostrich Quest sounds adorable.

OH btw you guys had a poll about the first 15 minutes, I was thinking that after you get the 3rd episode out and have finished working on the new game, the first 15 minutes could be the pup gameplay. Because you've said pups don't really have much to be doing, in this experience you could see your two parent wolves trying to defend and feed you, then as you learn to hunt you learn how the game works while being kept safe by the parents, and maybe witnessing your siblings death, because not all pups live and wolf life is harsh. This could also be for multiplayer, your siblings being a few other friends (not 8 of course). You can decide if you like this idea or not, I realise it would be difficult to do and I don't expect you to accept every idea, but thank you for the current game and how hard you work!
The animations look amazing! The biting, the pointer to where you bite, just everything! Even the new tawny coat looks super amazing! Keep up the amazing work. It’s still hard to believe that I’ve been playing Wolfquest since 2013, and now here we are with everything stepped up a level! Keep doing what you are doing, don’t pressure yourselves. We’ve waited this long, we can wait a little more.

As an animator, I can agree that this kind of stuff is SO time consuming! I really applaud your efforts. The easiest thing to do would be once the bite is locked on, position the two bodies at set angles so that the two playing animations never conflict. With such a dynamic range of ways the two wolves can approach each other, finding a happy medium takes much longer, I would think! I LOVE that you are putting this kind of play style into WolfQuest. Thank you!
Heres an Idea. Do u know a way that you could make a family tree? Like when your wolves have pups, u can see the family tree in the menu. And also there could be an option when the pup grows up we could be able to follow on their journey, and still see the family tree with the next generation.

From the looks of it, they could implement that sort of thing... Though I posted a idea in the forum about pack wars and such as ideas. It also depends on how many players can be on a server. If the map is bigger, I'd expect the player count would also be bigger. I hope the devs tell us more about multiplayer and what they have planed for release as well as future updates
@@chloethewolf1696 Well if the devs step outside the simulation for a second and develop a player/pack vs with special power up like stamina/strength boosts as well as special attacks with critical % up or what not... Its not exactly reinventing the wheel, more like adding to what they already have... Maybe have it as a separate update after the release or something? It would draw in more of a crowd (plus having the option to still have the casual players have a new option to bite some fur) Also I liked when they talked about having a hardcore mode for when you die, that's it, that wolf is gone. Could add to powerful wolves who live longer and have a edge over others as they have lived so long and gained so much experience... There is so much potential for this game but the development for all those ideas? Yeah that is very much lacking if they are still in development for just the animations and fine tuning at this point.

This may not he the right video to comment this on, but I have a suggestion. For the servers, you have a mobile only section for multiplayer, pc only and then both
If your wolf has a limp if the enemy wolf bites it will is take more damage or be more pain full or will you get a limp from getting bit for to long and heal the next night or day? Just some daily questions and if you have a radio collar will the neck take less damage?
Excellent question! There have been accounts of a radio collar saving the life of a wolf because it does cover a vulnerable spot. We doubt that we will have this in the game though, since then everyone would choose them and all the wolves would have them (which would look silly and also negate any advantage). Animating and tracking limps and other injuries would take a bit of work.
this is super cool haha! would you guys be able to add certain signals for our mate? like to let them know "we're hunting, crouch" or "we're hunting stop following me and go bite the elk:)" of course that's being facetious but i'm assuming you know what i mean? and the signals could be pressed with the hot keys on our keyboard? they could be yelps, soft barks, typical noises if you get what i'm saying or maybe tail signals maybe? just so that if our mate gets off track, we can remind them what we're doing:") and maybe that could be another personality trait! where a wolf is easily distracted and gets off track haha

Dena Pressley okay I don’t wanna sound mean or anything but I don’t think humans would just venture out into the middle of Yellowstone and try to attack wolves unless they have a hunting license or illegally hunt them. Also the alpha and omega pack rank system isn’t real, it’s just something made up by a guy who thought it was real. (It’s not) if you’re talking about the movie I don’t think the wolves would want to be near noisy humans... sorry if I dropped your dreams onto the floor :/
I agree with Jessica, hunting is illegal in Yellowstone. Maybe you could see some cars on the road driving by, but there's an invisible barrier blocking you from running on the road? Wolves will usually avoid humans.
“We hope to have amethyst finished by the end of 2018 and the other episodes released early 2019” *is the middle of 2019 and amethyst isn’t even released yet* haha but in all seriousness the game has come so far and your team is trying your best, hoping for it to come out in the next few weeks but that’s not garenteed, you are all doing amazing work!
Yes, clearly we are not good at predicting dates. However, we are getting closer to releasing the first episode, Amethyst Mountain, for PC/Mac on Steam and itch.io, as Early Access. That will be followed by Slough Creek some months later, then followed by the mobile versions.

Well, the maps and territories will be bigger and there will be a new scent system too. So it will be pretty different. :)

A few days ago I was wondering about the biting animation on Wolf Quest and then this video is uploaded, this already looks much more realistic like how I would imagine real wolves attacking each other. Also, Ostrich Quest sounds adorable.

OH btw you guys had a poll about the first 15 minutes, I was thinking that after you get the 3rd episode out and have finished working on the new game, the first 15 minutes could be the pup gameplay. Because you've said pups don't really have much to be doing, in this experience you could see your two parent wolves trying to defend and feed you, then as you learn to hunt you learn how the game works while being kept safe by the parents, and maybe witnessing your siblings death, because not all pups live and wolf life is harsh. This could also be for multiplayer, your siblings being a few other friends (not 8 of course). You can decide if you like this idea or not, I realise it would be difficult to do and I don't expect you to accept every idea, but thank you for the current game and how hard you work!

The animations look amazing! The biting, the pointer to where you bite, just everything! Even the new tawny coat looks super amazing! Keep up the amazing work. It’s still hard to believe that I’ve been playing Wolfquest since 2013, and now here we are with everything stepped up a level! Keep doing what you are doing, don’t pressure yourselves. We’ve waited this long, we can wait a little more.

It looks so realistic already! Thanks for taking us on this journey with you. Most games wouldn't go so far in showing why the game is taking so long to be released. By giving us these videos, it makes us more impressed and patient I think. Because knowing what is going on makes me realize just how much effort you all put into this wonder game. As an animator, I can agree that this kind of stuff is SO time consuming! I really applaud your efforts. The easiest thing to do would be once the bite is locked on, position the two bodies at set angles so that the two playing animations never conflict. With such a dynamic range of ways the two wolves can approach each other, finding a happy medium takes much longer, I would think! I LOVE that you are putting this kind of play style into WolfQuest. Thank you!
Heres an Idea. Do u know a way that you could make a family tree? Like when your wolves have pups, u can see the family tree in the menu. And also there could be an option when the pup grows up we could be able to follow on their journey, and still see the family tree with the next generation.

From the looks of it, they could implement that sort of thing... Though I posted a idea in the forum about pack wars and such as ideas.
It also depends on how many players can be on a server. If the map is bigger, I'd expect the player count would also be bigger.
I hope the devs tell us more about multiplayer and what they have planed for release as well as future updates

@@chloethewolf1696 Well if the devs step outside the simulation for a second and develop a player/pack vs with special power up like stamina/strength boosts as well as special attacks with critical % up or what not...
Its not exactly reinventing the wheel, more like adding to what they already have...
Maybe have it as a separate update after the release or something?
It would draw in more of a crowd (plus having the option to still have the casual players have a new option to bite some fur)
Also I liked when they talked about having a hardcore mode for when you die, that's it, that wolf is gone.
Could add to powerful wolves who live longer and have a edge over others as they have lived so long and gained so much experience...
There is so much potential for this game but the development for all those ideas? Yeah that is very much lacking if they are still in development for just the animations and fine tuning at this point.

The game lags on my Windows 10 computer to the point where it takes 5 minutes to move 3 feet, so I use the mobile version. I feel you 😂

If your wolf has a limp if the enemy wolf bites it will is take more damage or be more pain full or will you get a limp from getting bit for to long and heal the next night or day? Just some daily questions and if you have a radio collar will the neck take less damage?
Excellent question! There have been accounts of a radio collar saving the life of a wolf because it does cover a vulnerable spot. We doubt that we will have this in the game though, since then everyone would choose them and all the wolves would have them (which would look silly and also negate any advantage).
Animating and tracking limps and other injuries would take a bit of work.

and the signals could be pressed with the hot keys on our keyboard? they could be yelps, soft barks, typical noises if you get what i'm saying or maybe tail signals maybe?
just so that if our mate gets off track, we can remind them what we're doing:")
and maybe that could be another personality trait! where a wolf is easily distracted and gets off track haha

Dena Pressley okay I don’t wanna sound mean or anything but I don’t think humans would just venture out into the middle of Yellowstone and try to attack wolves unless they have a hunting license or illegally hunt them. Also the alpha and omega pack rank system isn’t real, it’s just something made up by a guy who thought it was real. (It’s not) if you’re talking about the movie I don’t think the wolves would want to be near noisy humans... sorry if I dropped your dreams onto the floor :/
I agree with Jessica, hunting is illegal in Yellowstone. Maybe you could see some cars on the road driving by, but there's an invisible barrier blocking you from running on the road? Wolves will usually avoid humans.

Yes, clearly we are not good at predicting dates. However, we are getting closer to releasing the first episode, Amethyst Mountain, for PC/Mac on Steam and itch.io, as Early Access. That will be followed by Slough Creek some months later, then followed by the mobile versions.
