Thanks, bro. Learned more in 10 minutes from your words than all afternoon with several others. Appreciate it. I'm trying to use my hot-rodded HR DeVille at home and the studio without killin people.
That Super Reverb sounds great, I love mine it’s pretty loud though. Thanks for this vid i been looking for a load box so I don’t piss of the neighbors
Try running a BBE sonic stomp in front of your Super reverb. It can eliminate that blanket on your amp sound. It doesn’t color your sound other than adjust the frequency and for $50 used it’s one of the best pedals I’ve ever used.
Matthew Scott hey buddy.. I was really not into them for a looooooong while , played quite a few of the big brand ones but honestly sounded like they took all the top out of the tone?? The bright n Deep switch is the jewel right here!! Sounds great with s screamer in front and the super on 9, ( obviously dialled in different on old greenie ) iconic tones!! Reckon your style would really suit it.. ⚡️🦅⚡️
hahah Yeah poor closet huh??? i don't feel like it is because its not booming out the cones but yeah i guess its driving the insides harder?? Nice to get close to THAT tone though at much more bearable Vols.. :]
Matthew Scott man I been running one long time on my super and only thing I have ever done is normal tube change every 2 years with jjs.beats taking out v1,5 , and sounds way better 👍
Sounds great, everyone with a tube amp over 15W needs an attenuator, no, make that a "Good" attenuator. I have use a couple attenuators through the years and am currently using a Rivera Rockcrusher. My main amplifiers are an old Fender Twin Reverb and a 50W Marshall Plexi, for myself an attenuator is a MUST HAVE item. Good Video, Thank You for Sharing. BTW, smokin tones coming through that Super.
Great video you just explained what i wanted to know with the dbs 16 12 8 4 and so on was getting confused with dbs and hms now I know what does what cheers Buddy
Worth noting is when an amp is pushed as hard as you’re pushing it doesn’t it sort of take away some of those higher frequencies as the harmonic tube saturation kicks in. It’s a good thing!?
I guess it really depends on what tone you are going for ? Your right in terms of the harder you drive it with the THD the more top rolls off - but the tone thickens up . Good for driven blues type tones 👍🏽
Thanks for this man. I got a Princeton Reverb about a month ago and been using pedals to juice it. I'm in an apartment most of the time. I'm gonna grab one of these over the cheaper Bugera option. I know more dollars isn't alway better but $99 for an attenuator when they go up to 1200 sounds fishy..... Cheers man
@@FretJunkies Thanks for the reply mate. I've just ordered a used one in "great condition" at fare price 229 US. My concern is OHMs and compatibility. I know nothing about this stuff. My Princeton is the Sweetwater edition with the Cannabis Rex 12". I'm at my bar so I can't be sure if I have the 8 or 16 OHM speaker. It's a 15 watt amp so I'm hoping it's the 8 which the Hot Plate I ordered is as well..... I let you know how I make out. Rock on!
@@jeremydahm2124 If it's a single 12 it'll normally be the 8ohm variety. If you run a 2x12 Fender the speakers will be 16ohms each totaling out at 8ohms. That's because amp manufacturers don't want to buy different impedance Output Transformers. Cheaper to buy 10,000 of one variety than 5,000 of each if you follow my meaning. cheers.
Gday Richie Your work is a constant inspiration mate, thank you! I’m looking at getting an attenuator. What are you using currently and what would you recommend please?? Appreciate ur time Peace, Nathan
sounds great, and the best attentuator video I've seen. Thanks! Would you mind telling us what speakers are in your amp, and what your treble/mid/bass settings are? Any pedals between the guitar and amp? (I thought I heard you say no, but just checking)
Nitromessiah hey there !! Thanks for tuning in 😊😊 My speakers at this time were Stock , and my settings I’m guessing would’ve been treble n mids on 6 bass on 3 , no pedals just the THD 😊
Great video- I have an Ultimate Attenuator- never really liked what it did to the tone- your description of a blanket on the amp is pretty appropriate to my experience, but then again I was trying to get it down very low- maybe I should get it back out again and try it with more volume for gigs. Argh- the constant chase for great tone at reasonable volumes... endless.
Hi, great sounding amp! Could you share what speakers are in you SR? Mine (also '67 SR) has gold label Jensen C10q, yours sounds bolder, maybe alnico's?
KnightSquire Hey there , I'll be looking to get one done real soon !! There's plenty of Fraser vids on my Insta or Facebook page ( fret junkies ) thanks for checking this out 🙂
Can u use a headset on the line out? I received my Hotplate but now waiting on my cables. Didn't want to settle for the crap the store had... Buy once I say.
VelezBiH hey there, the Suoer gas tightened up heaps in the bottom now!! This particular one I had sent over to Tommy Cougar in Sweden who ran an enchilada modd through it ( voiced slightly different to my favoured Octavia tastes ) which I feel tightened everything up !! Kinda like a two rock in terms of super poppy and responsive 👍🏼
Wessel Persijn hi there, it's generally matched to your speakers!! Just for certainty I would email THD with your specific amp and they will be able to tell you all the info you need ⚡️👊🏼⚡️
it all depends on the impedance that your amp "wants to see", the gold is 2 Ohm and is suited for the impedance of a Super Reverb. THD:"There are five different Hot Plate models: The 2Ω (gold), the 2.7Ω (green), the 4Ω (red), the 8Ω (purple), and the 16Ω (blue). To optimize tone and function, the impedance should be the same on your amplifier, Hot Plate and speaker cabinet. If you are unsure which Hot Plate to buy, Contact Us."
Good interesting review. I have been using the same 2 ohm Hot Plate with my Fender Bassman for several years. Works just as you have in depth demonstrated. The line out to a computer interface does give the valve tone of your amp, but it's not a reactive load box like the mega expensive Universal Audio.
Sweet Sounding Super Reverb
Thanks, bro. Learned more in 10 minutes from your words than all afternoon with several others. Appreciate it. I'm trying to use my hot-rodded HR DeVille at home and the studio without killin people.
No probs, glad its helped "]
I'm able to use my 90s hr tweed blues deville on drive channel and use the master volume. Hasn't met a pedal yet it didnt like.
That amp sounds effin killer

I did 2 albums using a SR and one of these 2 ohm Hotplates. Just got another SR and ready to invest in another Hotplate. Great sound man! Thanks!
i have one for sale.
Good Job
I’ve had the Sears Silvertone amp since I first started playing in the early 80s...great amp.
Good stuff. Thought about one of these.
Matthew Scott hey man! I dig your videos!

Maybe I'll look into one! Beats putting the amp in a closet. I have heard it an accelerate wear and tear on amp internals.

Looking into trading my 66’ bandmaster for a 67’ super reverb, I think I’ve made my decision now!
Enjoyed that - really showed how the HotPlate interacted with the amp.
Thumpersteve Thanks for watching , appreciate the comment ⚡️

THD makes Yellow Jackets as well No blanket lol but different tubes but you can crank the amp
My Fraser is being shipped this week! Can’t wait sounds killer!
Where you bought it? I can't find it anywhere :(
There custom made and the waiting list is big. I’m getting another one built. I might be selling my other one.
Man that sounds great!
Sweet man, just got a new reissue Super Reverb and a Weber Mass 100.
Great review and great tone
Thank you......
love it Richie
I found this video very helpful.. thanks richie
Haha your ink on you're right shoulder pokin' out of your shirt, looks like the {Frog Leap Studio} logo of the frog's legs!! Good Video!! Thanks:)

Thanks man! This is great!!
Great demo, but kept thinking about your dogs on the floor. Wonder how their perception of no attenuation in a room they can´t leave is :-)
15:20 is when you hook up the HotPLate to the camera mic./lol
I gotta cut back to 12dB as well. Sounds good man !!!
*Love and Balance*
Tony Battle Hey buddy, when we gonna see some more vids of yours? I love em! Your flying V is awesome!
Tony Battle Thank you Cuz .
Respect ⚡️🦅⚡️
What was that sound at 1:44? Sounded like the amp farted followed with a tuning pitch fork in the key of A
hahahah that's my phone farting a notification in A !!

Dean's guitars are fantastic. Regardless of the model.... they all have the same woody, open, airy quality about them. Love mine.
Mike W. could t agree more!! I have a 52 Tele inbound, can not wait!!!
Fret Junkies just got mine! Has yours got rolled fretboard edges?
I think {Hot Plate up} and (amp down) on the volume. Relative ofcourse!
Gday Richie
Your work is a constant inspiration mate, thank you!
I’m looking at getting an attenuator.
What are you using currently and what would you recommend please??
Appreciate ur time
Peace, Nathan
Hi Nathan , Thank you !!
I’m still using the hotplate - I can’t see that ever changing !! I couldn’t play my amps without it ⚡️⚡️
@@FretJunkies Thanks mate, my hunt begins then 😅
Do they still make the 2 ohm version? These things seem as hard to get as EVM 10s
@fretjunkies I see that you use an converter. Do you recommend that? Is that just as good as a trafo straight into The wall? Great video!😀

Hey guys, there seems to be many different colors on these thd pedals. Pink being the most ubiquitous. Could anyone tell me the difference in color?
Hey there the colours signify what ohm rating they are designed for ! Hope this helps ,
Richie ⚡️⚡️
How does the from -16db to -infinity works on the thd hp? Cant find any demo video talk on this feature too.
So you have your volume on noine.....

which ohm hot plate is that ?? looking to get one for my silverface super
you need the 2ohm for a super
Reverb is good. THAT'S TOO MUCH REVERB!
amazing

Where could I find one? it would be great
i cant see any use for this. attenuates= reduce. why reduce amplitude? 🤷🏼♂️🎸🎼
Cesar Diaz was my uncle
Dude, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the fraiser, it looks and sounds great?
KnightSquire Hey there , I'll be looking to get one done real soon !! There's plenty of Fraser vids on my Insta or Facebook page ( fret junkies ) thanks for checking this out 🙂
Supers are amazing shitttt
Hi there still looking forward to Fraser reviews ???
Can u use a headset on the line out? I received my Hotplate but now waiting on my cables. Didn't want to settle for the crap the store had... Buy once I say.
You could but it's not gonna sound good cause you won't be getting any sort of cab emulation.
Thanks for sharing great video and explanation! How is the super reverb bottom end when cranked? Does it get tight or is more soft or saggy?

Fret Junkies Thank You Sir
Ahhh, I see...the object is to have deaf dogs so that they aren't hindered by the playing! lol
Don't play with wrestler bluesman.
