Shame on any "professional" hairstylist for giving you a hard time for posting this video. I think it's time for a stark wake up call. Regular old people who have not been professionally trained CAN and DO have the capacity to do their own hair, their husband's hair, and their children's hair. Get over it! I'm sick to death of hearing these so called "professionals" tell the rest of us we're doing it wrong. I wonder why I have so many random people ask me who cuts and colors my hair? I have the utmost respect for Kate posting this video. THANK YOU, KATE!!!!! You, are a true PROFESSIONAL!!!!!
Thank you for making this tutorial, Kate! It’s simple to follow and I was able to give my husband a haircut that will hold him over until he can see his barber. He is a resident physician and really appreciates not looking overgrown and shabby in front of his colleagues and patients!
I have watched countless videos on this subject for the past couple of weeks, and yours is by far the simplest, easiest detailed explanation on how to do this. I cut my husband's hair with the clippers except for the top a few days ago, because I wasn't confident that I knew how to do the top properly yet. I will be doing it tomorrow now that I've watched your video. Thank you so much for posting this!
I watched your video several times before I felt brave enough to try and cut my husband’s hair. I cut it today and it looks pretty good. I was very happy with it, but more importantly, so was he. Thank you for your instruction, it was very helpful.
We are both nurses so we are still having to be seen by the public. My husbands hair finally reached the point that it had to be cut- your video was very helpful as the style is similar to his and I had never attempted it before. Only one bald spot in the back 😅 thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I greatly appreciate it. My husband and I got put in quarantine pretty early, my family was affected by Houston rodeo barbecue cook off patient with covid 19. Since my husband is a nurse we had to do mandatory quarantine. His quarantine is over and he had to go back to work... our hairstylist is now closed because of the outbreak. God bless you, now I can cut not only his hair but my son-in-law‘s hair too 😍😘🥰 my clippers arrived via Amazon yesterday. My husband will be working doubles over the weekend, but Monday I will cut his hair. Wish me luck 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Oh my god - I LOVE YOU so much! I watch a lot of your tutorials and you are so great at explaining things. I have been watching a ton of videos while waiting for the trimmer we ordered to arrive so I can cut my husbands hair. Trimmer arrived yesterday and I still hadn’t seen anything that made me feel confident. Finding your video has done it! Especially the bald spot! Lol! Thank you!
As soon as it is healthy for my husband to visit his barber, I will gladly send him back!! In the meantime I am so grateful you shared this so he doesn't look like a caveman in all his Zoom conferences with CLIENTS!
Thanks to this video my husband allowed me to cut his hair last night! He’s incredibly particular and has an amazing barber. He and I are grateful for your guidance and I didn’t totally butcher it 🙌🏼 THANK YOU!!
This is so great and your humor put a smile on my face! I’ve been cutting my 9 yo twin boys hair since birth. Now I may have to take the plunge and cut my husbands hair. Your video gave me the confidence. Thank you ❤️
My husband started saying I needed to learn to cut his hair. I figured you would have made a video about this - and here it is! Just another reason to love you ❤ thank you!
omg thank you for this! I've been purposely procrastinating on cutting my husband's hair for the last month and a half. Our salon's won't be opening up for at least a couple of weeks here so I've decided to just go ahead and do it like he's been begging me to. I've watched dozens of videos today and your video is by far the best! It's very easy to follow and not drawn out like some of the videos I've watched today. And honestly, your haircut turned out better than a lot of the professional stylist's videos I've watched so far. Some we're using very similar techniques, but their results ended up super choppy. Thanks again, here's to hoping I can actually pull this off!
My husband's hair grows FAST and I've already had to cut it a handful of times during quarantine. Now our male friends want haircuts too! I will keep coming back to this video for reference! I am so grateful for this and you did such a great job at explaining in a way that was very easy to understand.
I finally cut my husbands hair today and he is pretty pleased! I think it looks very similar to what he always gets, for it being my first time! Thanks for showing us! 😄
This video came in the nick of time cause I was just going to do it😄 I did it once before but he knew he was in trouble when he heard me say OOOH OOOH. Luckily it was in the winter and I told him to wear a cap til it grew out. My husband is retired so he's not going out but it just makes him feel scruffy when his hair isn't taken care of. Thank you for doing this! I definitely know now what I did wrong....everything🤭 You guys are adorable ❤️
I have two boys ages 16 and 11. For 15 years I’ve watched them both get haircuts every other month. The other day I got bold and cut my 11 year old’s hair with clippers and shears, and to my surprise, I did an amazing job! I posted my results on social media and my friends were super impressed. My little guy liked it so much, he told me I could do all his haircuts going forward! I’ve never cut hair before, other than my brother’s hair into a buzz cut when he was in the fire academy over 20 years ago.
I just cut my husband’s hair using this method and it came out so well. He’s happy and I’m proud I’ve found a new skill. He’s still having to go to work everyday (key worker) and his hair was annoying him so much. Thank you so much for sharing this video. 🥰🥰🥰
I will have to say I have been trying to cut my husband's hair and failing miserably over and over but I watched your video and you're explaining throughout the whole video really help me understand how to approach it correctly so thank you very much.👏🏼👏🏼🌺🌻
Thank You Kate! Second time cutting my husband's hair and the 100th time I have watched you cut your husbands hair! Could not have done a semi complete job without you and your video. Second cut was better than the first but I won't be hanging up my Aesthetician tools to do hair. I will stay in my own lane once his person is cutting again. Thanks for all your doing to make this easier on our men not feeling sloppy. Huge lift for my husband when his hair is freshly cut. Going to follow you on Instagram!
Thanks for the tutorial. I’ve been following your hair tutorials for a couple of years and have found them very helpful. This one was great. Both my husband and son needed a haircut and I’m proud to say that after following your simple guidelines, neither of them will be embarrassed to be seen in public (when the time is right) or on their weekly Zoom meetings.
Thank you for posting this, Kate! My husband is in basic law enforcement training and haircuts are mandatory, regardless of salons being shut down. Hopefully I can’t attempt this!
If he's in the academy, a simple buzz cut should do it. That can be done with clippers alone. Saves you a lot of time and effort. Best of luck to him from a retired LEO
This was very helpful!! I have been cutting my husband's hair for 30 years and my four boys hair since they were each born (not professionally trained) and liked watching how you blend the top with the sides. Thanks so much for doing this for us!!
Thank you for teaching my wife and me how to do this. She is going to use this video to cut my hair. This was simple and easy for us to understand. Watching the playfulness between you and your husband just made it a little more entertaining!
I needed this yesterday when I was attempting to cut my stepson’s hair. It came out pretty good for having absolutely no clue what I was doing. However, his father took over and finished it up.
thank you so much for posting this! just cut my husband's hair using your tips, and I think it looks pretty decent. i'm no professional, but he's happy with the finished product (win!). You are awesome.
Thank you for this! Your directions were easy to follow and thorough, and I was able to successfully cut my hubby's hair because of you! Stay well. :-)
Could you do a step by step for a basic woman’s haircut on oneself? I’ve come across several, however would like your tips and ticks if you have any! Btw love your content!
Disappointed to hear that some professionals are giving you a hard time for helping us with a super basic men’s cut. I would have been disappointed if you hadn’t used your platform to help. There’s no sense in adding being embarrassed about how we look to this already challenging time.
Thank you Kate for this video. I went out and bought clippers and I am cutting my husbands hair and by following your guide on the video it has turned out pretty good. I am sure a professional would find issues if the examined the cut but it looks decent and it will work for the time being while we are in quarantine. BTW, my husband like it and says it looks great! Who knew!
Thank you SO much for this tutorial!! I watched it at least 4 times and it gave me the confidence to have at it and it turned out GREAT!! Happy husband ☺️ I’ve never cut hair in my life, well, maybe I’ve hacked on some bangs in the past, but your instructions were great! Again, thank you kindly for putting this video out there! I’d share a before/after photo if I could!! ♥️❤️♥️
Thank you so much Kate for making this video. I watched it a couple of times then proceeded to cut my husband and son’s hair. They both agree that I did a pretty good job for my first time!
Thank you, Kate! Your videos are how I learned to curl my hair when I cut it short, and this was super helpful for cutting my husband's hair. I kept laughing since he made the exact same face as Justin, but we got through with no damage done. I will be happy to send him back to a professional, but in the meantime, he doesn't look so scruffy.
You guys are so cute! Thank you for the lesson and now I am ready to try this for the very first time on my boyfriend.....I'm nervous! But you gave me confidence and it looks fairly easy...let's see!
Excellent job 👏🏻. I found this a very well done video and easy to follow and understand. Thank you for posting so we can try to keep our guys looking sharp until they can go back to the professionals!
Thank you for doing this video! I want to try this on my husband! In these "stay at home days " since he can't get ti barbershop yet! You two are so cute!!
Thank you so much for this great video, Kate!!! I have never given my husband a haircut (nor anyone else except my own bangs), and this video was SO well presented, and easy to follow, that I didn't even feel concerned about going ahead with the cut (nor did my husband) It turned out great, and he was really happy with the 'Pro' cut I gave him. He didn't want much off the top, though, and now wants more off!!! (I had a heck of a time finding your video again for this, and was SO relieved when I finally DID. Yours is the BEST! :) two thumbs up!
found your video last night and my wife gave me a fresh cut! Took a little while for her to get up to speed, the first time around, but it turned out great!
Nice job. Being we can’t go to our barber we have no choice but to do it ourselves. The info you gave us is very helpful. Thank you very much for sharing. 👍👍👍👍✌️
That was so great!! I’m about to do my sons and now I’m going to get a better pair of scissors and watch this about three more times thank you so much. Was really cool that you did that whoever is hating on you for doing that test remember that we don’t have a choice right now.
I feel real love. this man is so lucky to have a beautiful kind woman to cut his hair. I really feel warm watching this like she is touching my hair. I wish I could be lucky as this man someday.
THANK YOU for doing this tutorial! Can you somehow explain how to do that preppy haircut where it's slightly shorter in the back than the front? My teenage boys have that cut, and I'm not sure how to go about that.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I tried following along as this is my first time cutting my boyfriends hair. Unfortunately we didn’t have the right materials and I completely ruined it. He’s heading to the barber shop now to fix the hair he has left 🙃 It’s his first day back at work tomorrow and he wants to look presentable lol
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video! You did such a good job that I could give my husband a fairly decent haircut. I know it was because of your video.
What number shield did you use over the clippers for the sides and back? I may have to try using my clippers that I use on the dog. Thanks for sharing. Oh, he was almost closing his eyes.. you had him so relaxed that you had him under your control.
I cut my boys hair and after several years you would think I would be a pro. Nope. They have the epitome of homeschool haircuts ( I can make that joke because I'm a homeschool mom... wink wink) ..LOL. This was great! Thanks!
Thank you! I wish my husband could see his barber and as soon as it safe to do so, I will gladly relinquish the scissors! Until then, I need to step in and cut.
I'm going to be cutting my bf's hair tomorrow as well. I've come across countless videos on yt and this one seems to have the best reviews, by far. Just curious how you made out with your husband's hair. Did you cut it? I must admit that I'm quite nervous to do it lol
Thanks for this! I will have fun trying to trim my brothers hair.lol. They never let me touch their hair before for fun, but now they are letting me. So it will be a fun activity for this quarantine I sooooo badly want to get my hair at least trimmed. I usually get a cut every 6 months or whenever I have an event. But, I am too scared to attempt to trim my own split ends. I have long curly thick hair and as of now I like the layered cut I have from my last hair cut( normally i blow dry it straight and use an iron. So at least my hair is having a break from the heat). I know it is healthy to trim your hair at least so it grows better or something. So, not important now lol. I know. But still.
Do you have any suggestions for cutting your own bangs?? I am stuck at home and unable to get the cut. Just wondering if you have any advice or just not do it?? Thanks!!!

Thank you so much for posting this! My husband is a fireman and has to maintain a short haircut. This is going to help so much!
This was very helpful!! I have been cutting my husband's hair for 30 years and my four boys hair since they were each born (not professionally trained) and liked watching how you blend the top with the sides. Thanks so much for doing this for us!!
I so needed this! My poor boy has needed a haircut for weeks now but I had NO idea what I was doing. Thank you!!
Brilliant. Worked like a charm. The Mrs watched it once, and gave me a much needed haircut. Thank you for the tips.

I'm glad I came across this video. My hubs asked me yesterday if I could cut his hair *gulp** we'll see how this goes😬😬

He may not get a shave or an eyebrow trim, but I bet this hairstylist makes up for it with a kiss... you guys are a cute couple! 😉
Excellent instruction... Well spoken, precise and clear. And enjoyable to watch!
Thank you so much Kate for making this video. I watched it a couple of times then proceeded to cut my husband and son’s hair. They both agree that I did a pretty good job for my first time!
You are a very good teacher, best video I've seen for understanding blending, thank you!
Thanks so much! This video was so helpful and easy to follow! My sons’ hair was getting out of control!

Just did my son's hair and it turned out great. Thanks for the tutorial. Now I need to trim my layers and (horror) box color my roots.
Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial. I got both of my guys hair done and while not perfect, it was much better than all that extra length.
found your video last night and my wife gave me a fresh cut! Took a little while for her to get up to speed, the first time around, but it turned out great!
Nice job. Being we can’t go to our barber we have no choice but to do it ourselves. The info you gave us is very helpful. Thank you very much for sharing. 👍👍👍👍✌️
Thank you so much! My 2 year old is in a desperate need of a haircut...I will test it out today.

This is the best tutorial I've watched! Thank you!
Great haircut, and your husband is a very blessed man.
I feel real love. this man is so lucky to have a beautiful kind woman to cut his hair. I really feel warm watching this like she is touching my hair. I wish I could be lucky as this man someday.

You two make the most beautiful couple !! Oh. And nice haircut :)
Thank you for knocking out the clipper-noise sound during those portions of the video. 🙏
Thank you so much for this tutorial now i can do my 4 boys. They really need their trim!
Excellent video!!! Great job!! You two are adorable together ❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👏
Great hair cut tutorial! Thank you for sharing 😊
Nicely done, would’ve liked to seen a little blow dryer action, cute couple you go girl!
Great video. You are very good at explaining the process.
My 11 yrs old desperately needs a haircut. We're going to give this a shot.
My husband's hair is really long... I'm going to have to do something very soon. But thank you for sharing this
Thank you so much for posting this video.

HI
THANK YOU
I did a great job because of your video on my husband's hair!! I wish I could upload and show u!
What number shield did you use over the clippers for the sides and back? I may have to try using my clippers that I use on the dog. Thanks for sharing. Oh, he was almost closing his eyes.. you had him so relaxed that you had him under your control.
Thank you! 🙏🏼 barber shops are closed where I live so I’m going to try to attempt cutting my husbands hair 🤣
I cut my boys hair and after several years you would think I would be a pro. Nope. They have the epitome of homeschool haircuts ( I can make that joke because I'm a homeschool mom... wink wink) ..LOL. This was great! Thanks!
Hi Kate! Thanks for sharing this. Please confirm what brand of clippers do you use.
This worked!! My Hubs wants to buy me real hair shears and ditch his regular stylist. 😉. Thank you so, so much!
great cut!! nice to watch and you're great to listen to ~
This is a great video, very grateful for uploading it!
Thank you, this is just what I've been looking for!
Thanks for posting this! Really helpful! X
Great video! What about if the top is balding? Does it have to be a brush cut then?
You are great thank you so much
I enjoy use guy's humor my wife said
You was the best UA-cam video she watched along with a laugh.
Thank You
Thank you for this, my teenage boys are getting quite shaggy!
Thank you! I wish my husband could see his barber and as soon as it safe to do so, I will gladly relinquish the scissors! Until then, I need to step in and cut.
Thank you for posting durning the quarantine!
Great tutorial. You guys are so cute together.
Great video! I'm cutting my husband's hair tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes! :)
I'm going to be cutting my bf's hair tomorrow as well. I've come across countless videos on yt and this one seems to have the best reviews, by far. Just curious how you made out with your husband's hair. Did you cut it?
I must admit that I'm quite nervous to do it lol

Thank you for this video . I would love to cut my dad’s hair today but I’m sooo nervous. But I like this video

Can you do a tutorial on how you did your hair?
lol! That collective GROAN/SCREAM you heard was when you said SEWING SCISSORS!!!!!!!!! Them's FIGHTING words girl!!
Christina Miller Sewing scissors work great for cutting hair.
Sarah Oehmler Yes but she saying, “you don’t touch my sewing scissors!” Once you cut hair with them, they won’t ever be the same😄
85michellemybelle that’s a wives tale.
I want to order some hair cutting scissors. You suggested Sally's. Can you suggest a length and/or type to buy, please?
Perfect timing :)
