      Carlos did most of his run switch, which is why the judges gave a higher score. It's why Yuto gets high scores too he does a ton of nollie and switch in his run. Idk if I necessarily agree, but it's definitely hard to judge those runs against each other.

      Yeah when she saw Niko take two nails on her first run on her first internaironal contest you could see how concerned she was for her seeming so sad.
      Yumeka and Momiji lead the pack in technicality and veteran status, Yumeka with that 9.4 kickflip feeble at SLS and also at Olympic wst events and momiji with crook heel out and her gold Olympic win and high contest placing a.
      Coco is younger but has some big tricks and consistency.
      Aoi has some good contest performance, heelflip front board in multiple WST events, did really well in Rome recently.
      I can understand why Aoi feels for Niko because Aoi was in her position not too long ago very new to contests and nervous.
      You can still see how nervous Aoi gets before runs even now as she has had more experience.

    • @revetimeslip
      @revetimeslip 9 місяців тому +1

      @@talk-supersix-seven6021totally agree with you on this. aoi seemed really nervous before her runs but she’s getting better each competition. even the recent sls, you can see how much she’s grown from being so nervous to now being able to hype a crowd before throwing it all down!
      hope niko overcomes the nerves and we see her in more int contests in the future, rooting for her!

    • @talk-supersix-seven6021
      @talk-supersix-seven6021 9 місяців тому

      @@revetimeslip Yeah, exactly!! I saw on Aoi's instagram she was at a contest all smiles at usual, she had one more try and hyped up the crowd waving her hands to get them cheering before she went for it and landed it clean!
      I'm very happy for her, you can just imagine how great she will be when she gets to 18-19,
      The thing is these young women are doing so well despite being in many cases five foot nothing. Can you imagine if instead of being 5 foot nothing, Funa was 5'9-10 thereabouts like Gabi Mazetto?
      Funa did well at an even recently doing a nose blunt slide on a big rail and I feel it's not appreciated just how much of a feat it is for her. She is 5 foot tall, she has to pop the ollie to her own hip height and throw all her body weight over the board just to lock in. When it went wrong at a past event she cracked her head hard on the concrete, it was awful to watch.
      Aoi is doing really well, but again you can just imagine if she was older or if she had a few inches more height she would get to attempt tricks more aggressively with ease.
      It's been a blast watching this group of super stars progress over the last year.
      I watched Momiji's instagram she did a nose slide nollie 360 heel out, she's really pushing the limits of technicality in women's skateboarding. They're all making history!

    Awesome video. Would love to see Kairi Netsuke, Daiki Ikeda, and Toa Sasaki get a chance in SLS, to me, they're some of the best skaters in the world and I believe they would give the top pros a run for their money. Also, I think Kyonosuke would be a blast to watch in it, like seeing Filipe Mota in it, love seeing the Erased crew in different videos/events. Though, not sure if Kyonosuke skates many of the big events like SLS? Love the energy and dedication we're seeing coming out of Japan. 🤙👏

    Considering how women’s skating has progressed over the last few years & where it seems to be going I think this will be one of the few women’s sports that actually gets a lot of viewers when put up against the men’s division. U look at sports like Basketball & no one cares the slightest bit about the WNBA. I don’t think that’s gonna be the case when it comes to women’s skateboarding. A few years ago it might’ve been like that but now I actually look forward to watching the girls skate

      That’s what separates the pros from the ams, the switch difficulty is really that difficult. Try a switch 5-0 on a ledge then try a bigger flip on a flat bar and you’ll see the “scary” factor and the difficulty factor and why switch although not that pretty is worth the higher scoring. I wouldn’t say he got robbed either it’s not like yuto or ribeiro did super easy tricks.

    Btw, I personally like the way the comp setup is. I love watching SLS, but I feel like it's based too heavily on best trick to win, lines are obviously way harder to put together/execute perfectly. To me, they should have two separate comps with the top 3 winners in each comp, so a best line comp like this, then best trick comp. 👍

    I felt so bad for niko after her first run I was really rooting for her.
    was crazy to see little Coco do such an incredible dominating run with two flip tricks in and out of slides, that was amazing.
    Niko had some good tricks, you could just see her breathing near hyperventilating she was incredibly nervous, I hope she was okay after and learns to handle her nerves, she seemed so depressed after so many bails on the first run.
    It's amazing to see women's skateboarding nowadays it's like how the mens was before, skateboarding progresses when you have so many young kids doing it and getting highly technical before they're even adults.
    Speaking of that Momiji is absent here, she has big tricks, nose slide 270 heel out etc, she's already a champion but she'll likely become a legend in years to come. Along with Funa, Yumeka and Coco.
