Michael was that you? It happened at 9:38 in the show did Facist Christ and then Worldwide Epiphany last saw him do that at Roseland in NYC December 4,1993. Been 31 years I last saw him do that but it was worth waiting for! Todd had Prairie Prince on keyboards and Kasim Sulton on bass. Great show folks catch this tour people!
I've always felt that Todd's skills as a vocalist peaked in the early-90s, and maybe skills as a songwriter, as well. That's saying something because he was king of the 70s.
+bungalowmo AND remember when we could actually see and hear live musicians on TV giving superb LIVE performances without lip-synching or autotune, of intelligent, thoughtfully composed, artistically realized music?
So true I saw him I'm not kidding you did some work with him never mind but I saw him in Apple valley zoo in Minnesota and you know that's children and happy and animals and it was so pretty it was just perfect that was like a little Utopia
Yes. This period and that band captured on nearly human Tokyo- was without hyperbole- epic in every imaginable musical dimension. It was a special moment in time - thankfully recoded well for future generations. So damn brilliant. Should do a duo tour with Michelle as he is getting older.
RnR Hall of Fame owes this guy big time. Couple of slugs of Bushmills and his pipes were primed. I can’t count how many times I have seen him solo or with Utopia.
Been listening since 74... I waa working on a song of my own, thought whTs that lil pluck trik Knopler does, as always 3 hrs later i remember how amazing he is. So as i always do to clear my head, of course Todd.. an ad pops up mid song.. Todd Uptown theatre Napa the 28th. I have gig Thursday Saturday Sunday.. Such a great period for Todd - brings back many bittersweet memories for me - I love you Michelle and I always been a Blond lover but the brunette just drives me crazy...
Right up to the band I mean that's not his band That's the king of Ging walked in there with this Gauss and blew that room away just like flipping he always does.
Had a chance to interactive circle where you just say Todd play that one and it's a round circle and he's in the middle and controls everything of course the wizard and oh my gosh pretty virtual cool real live audience spontaneous automatic unbelievable tide he is the second coming my second wind to put that
Who is listening 2024 ❤
Me!!
I’m listening and going to see The Hermit Of Mink Hollow on 5/17 here in Charlotte!
Saw the show in Charlotte 5/17/24. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.

@@johnschaefer2238 Yeah I saw him on the Accapella tour in mid 80's too. Incredible !!
The layering of vocals is utterly unique to Todd Rundgren. Absolutely original.
Nearly Human is a masterpiece. Every song is brilliant.
It sure is! I even bought cassette tapes on sale and gave them to friends to turn them on to Todd's awesome repertoire.
Always loved how much Dave loved Todd.
The Waiting Game is his real masterpiece🎵
Todd Rundgren... what a gift to the world. :)
His music saved my life. I want to die right now, but I did then, too; but I’m glad I stayed then, and I hope to be glad again.
@Steven G Thanks for the comment, Steven. People like you make life better!

And David Letterman's band was beyond great.
Not arguable. Greatest songwriter of all time.
Arguably the greatest songwriter of all time. And with golden pipes.
The Galaxy of only a few musical galaxies
I've always felt that Todd's skills as a vocalist peaked in the early-90s, and maybe skills as a songwriter, as well. That's saying something because he was king of the 70s.
Applies in 2021 as always ‼ TR ahead of the times.. And I miss David Letterman..
I miss letterman what a beautiful bunch of poo now. Saw Todd still great. Voice wonderful
One hell of a performance!
Awesome stuff.
Dave was always such a huge fan of Todd and had him back countless times over the years.
Todd is God. One who we can hear.
Remember when people actually could sing? If not....play this again.
+bungalowmo AND remember when we could actually see and hear live musicians on TV giving superb LIVE performances without lip-synching or autotune, of intelligent, thoughtfully composed, artistically realized music?
Couldn’t agree more. His voice still sounds great today. Love the man and love his body of work.
Amen
The best
Todd Rundgren is the greatest all around AMERICAN BORN musician ever.
And Frank Zappa a composer fr Baltimore and like Todd could play 15 instruments and never did drugs
A time when people could write and perform good music.
and he still does!
2023 and Todd still nails it!
Great songs, great music, great performance. Genius of TR...man he could write some great music!
That was really wonderful, especially Change Myself.
Just beautiful!
When Todd recorded nearly human, he was at his absolute peak as a performer on stage. I've seen every tour since 74,it never got better than this!
I love change the world and not change Todd.
I love parallel lines and so many other size and not change tired but change the world not change Todd

If deserted on an island Nearly Human would be a must have cd for my survival
I love watching Michelle in this song. I love knowing how their story finds its happily ever after. It just makes me smile all over.

@@BigSunn0 Todd’s wife is the blonde backup singer
Are they still together?
@@mikejensen3911 what? Do you mean, Todd and Michelle Rundgren? Yes, of course they're still together. They've been married for 20+ years.
Man, she was such a cutie-pie back then!
kick ass ! period . a superstar
Grew up on the Runt. One of the best voices your going to hear. Go team Rundgren.
Lyrics to Todd's song Change Myself are BEYOND point👌
Well said
RnR Hall of Fame owes this guy big time. Couple of slugs of Bushmills and his pipes were primed. I can’t count how many times I have seen him solo or with Utopia.

I have loved Todd since “Hello It’s Me”! We are both Upper Darby High graduates.. him in ‘66 and me in ‘70!
I've always thought Todd Rundgren and Daryl Hall were musical twins -- separated at birth. Remarkable how much their songs sound alike.
Hope you've been able to check out "Daryl's House?" Todd Rundgren and Daryl Hall singing together.
Philly guys, they had similar influences.
@@HeatherS__ Philly Soul and Rock and Roll. Great combo!
I suspect Todd might have worked with DH in the studio.
@@pilljr.3331 Todd produced Hall and Oates 'War Babies' album from 1974.
Genius at work!
Incredible.
I’ve always thought that Todd was a pretty man but in this video … WOW! Beautiful man, epic voice, sooo Todd! ❤
I am 74 graduate loved hello it's me

Always have loved him!
So damn good
Boy that really took off half way through, damn!!!!
Loved watching Letterman, especially when Todd was on.
Philly influence here... 'listen and you'll hear it. I absolutely love this... 'been a fan since "Runt" days...
Thought the same thing-incredible composition!👍
This is in the dictionary under Blue Eyed Soul...
Awesome...
this was Todd at his absolute creative apogee... Vince sounded awesome on the keys too.
Total Magic > so much fun & life!
True talent these songs last forever
Extradonary artist .
Difficult to sing live but he nails it.
Awesome!
このlettermanでのパフォーマンス、どちらもgoodです♪この頃のトッドはソウルに接近したサウンドを追求していて、本来のボーカリストとしての魅力が全面に出ていて、とてもカッコいいです(^^)
This performance is such a classic!!.. Shandi Sinnamon thou.. Wasn't she stunning...vocally.
Good Songs...
Awesomeness ♥️🕊
I love "I Saw the Light" because I actually had that experience. It was with a close friend.
Love rundgren!!
I miss Todd eyes, he always wears shades these days.
I would faint anyway. :) and evryone would panic.
Rocks!
I remember Dave being so infatuated with Todds backup singers, he kept them on the show for the week.
Thanks again!
I Love Todd!
Hahaha the spot light at the end is on Todd's wife!
Love the todd
Love Todd’s Fab Tuneage
Such a great period for Todd - brings back many bittersweet memories for me - I love you Michelle and I always been a Blond lover but the brunette just drives me crazy...
The Great Todd...
Was this the show where Dave became excited about the background singers and they returned for the remainder of the week?
Good Song.
AMEN
No one does the hand jive gestures like Todd!
Is that Vince Welnick on the keyboards?
+Stefan Olofsson yes it is
Believe so yes. And Paul Shaffer is in there too lending a hand :)
Love the Freak.
Right up to the band I mean that's not his band That's the king of Ging walked in there with this Gauss and blew that room away just like flipping he always does.

RIP Shandi.
RIP Shandi Cinnamon
He ain't Sinatra , Mathis . Good presentation
Todd is GOD :) forgetting realty.
Alien girls - back -up ?
Me 🎶
Impressive bass player.
Lyle Workman's guitar and vocals were also awesome in these performances.
Sid McGinnis. Not Lyle
If it was more blurry that would be good, lol.
I am more of a fan of the Something Anything era . His pop tunes are the best .
Had a chance to interactive circle where you just say Todd play that one and it's a round circle and he's in the middle and controls everything of course the wizard and oh my gosh pretty virtual cool real live audience spontaneous automatic unbelievable tide he is the second coming my second wind to put that
SO, Todd married the gal in the middle, the blonde... yes?
OK, now she's on the left (stage left) end but still blonde.
Todd & Zappa jokers ??
Ain't Robert Palmer, but c'mon Man?
No Rainbow hair, gave it to the Women ?
Ok, he's an icon. But what is with the girls costumes?
If President Putin would listen to the Sun and I'm sure he won't because it's a nice son and it makes sense.
He is a Socialist Trump , luv both cats.
Hey R&R HOF….. really?
Son of Man > Son of God
So it starts with President Putin sing la la la and it ends with
.
Todd is great, but the background singers could do a better job here IMO , they are not in really in tune or in harmony
Ruud Voest if I remember correctly Letterman fell in love with them and the girls were on with the house band the rest of the week lol
Wrong
Your kidding, right?
💯💯💯💯💯💯
everything todd does is intentional
