The choice to use an obvious stuffed animal double to make the scene hilarious instead of disturbing was a stroke of genius. I wonder how many takes it took to make “Baxter” look floppy enough while falling.
I think it's the fact that it's obviously a rag doll that makes it funny (if it looked realistic it would upset some viewers), something a kid is unlikely to notice and likely to think they actually kicked that dog off the bridge.
Anybody w/ a functioning brain can tell it’s a fake dog/ stuffed animal, but for some reason, this scene just doesn’t settle well w/ me. Don’t get me wrong, I love this movie and think it’s Will and his “usual casting-clique” at their finest, but I think it just triggers bad vibes of the crazy shit I’d see while having to sit in traffic when going over either GWB or Tappan-Zee/Cuomo bridges in NY on a daily basis for work. Been there myself w/ many “Hacidic-Karens” in their beat up mini-vans who don’t seem to get why people are mad that they swerve into every nice car that guys like myself put blood, sweat, and tears into. Other times it was either myself or others getting out and fighting mid-traffic when some obnoxious or careless a-hole deserved it, but bring my dog or someone’s pet into the situation, and I think I’d more than likeky either have a heart attack on the spot or beat the guy to death in broad daylight.😂😂😂 Talking from experience and anyone who commutes to NYC especially def can relate!!
“if you wanna throw down in fisticuffs fine, I got jack johnson and Tom o’Leary waiting for ya,” is an underrated line in the entire film. The delivery is impeccable.
@@maxtisxd6245 I never said i didn’t care, so, yeah, nice job noticing that I did in fact reply I’m also not going to argue with a guy that comments “ok” and nothing else.
Jack Black played all of the emotions so well right there. He needs to be in more serious roles. Confused, angry, sad. Watch it again, just to watch his reactions and emotions.
The fact that Ron just stood there and watched his dog get punted off a bridge after they just got into a fight where people had tridents, guns and hand grenades is what really sends this over the top 😂
Me and my brother rented this when we were at my uncles. This scene literally had everyone in the living room dying from laughter. So many tears. So many years ago. Still funny.
My English teacher played this scene in class freshmen year dying laughing from it and replaying where Baxter was punted off the bridge about 5 times😂😂😂
The fact that my mom thought this scene looked real had me laughing so hard. She let out this high pitched “AYYY” and put her hands on her head. I had to rewatch it 😂
@@petelarry9130 movies have scenes with violence in them all the time, and the violence looks very real. This scene had what looked to be a stuffed animal and looked hilariously fake. I don't think anyone would think this scene is funny if it were real. My question to you is do you feel the same when you watch movies with violence towards human beings? Those type of movies and series are all over television. I really would like to hear your thoughts on it?
This is absolutely hysterical when you put it on 2x playback. When I was a kid I would hold FFWD through this scene and laugh my ass off. And it’s still hilarious!
This scene was so shockingly hilarious to me that it seemed to happen over a matter of several minutes the first time I watched it. I'm surprised it was only a couple of seconds...
I remember watching this at my dads house when I was around 8 yrs old and I was crying my eyes out simply because of this scene and I am now traumatized from it. Thanks for letting me relive my trauma.
Not even lying. This dog is invincible. He survived after being punted off a bridge. And falling into a bear cage and comes back just fine for the sequel
its even more funny that Ron is so stupid that he doesn't realize that the first two of his "loves" the biker cant take revenge upon so just when you think he could possibly do something smart his third love is Baxter which you know is going to be bad for him.
I haven’t seen this movie but this scene popped up on my UA-cam feed while on my lunch break, my co workers we’re looking at me insanely cause of how hard i was laughing
I remember seeing this on DVD and this was literally the funniest scene out of all of them. I was just on the floor rolling about laughing my head off.
One of the things thats so funny about this is how crudely done it was. Between the stuffed animal, and the half ass chipped kick off the side of his boot, shit is a timeless classic.
When I was a kid and I was watching this with my dad I had a really heavy soft spot for animals, and when this scene played at the part he kicked the dog I remember breaking down in tears and my dad would tease me for weeks after that until my mom god involved and my dad had to tell me it was a fake dog lol.
😂😂😂😂 I searched for this scene to send to my son to let him know what I'm about to do to his boy dog b/c he's been barking all morning, during my meetings, break, still barking... Lol

IIRC, they used a toy monkey, not even a dog. 😂
also they didn't use any sounds effects
It was a dead dog they found
