    Oh boy I would love to go out and play on some nicer roads with one of these, but I'm afraid what we have for roads round here would break its' back. Only a very few roads I would venture onto with it and they are always busy, busy, busy with commuter & commercial traffic. Sides I'm a big fella @ 6'4" before multiple back surgeries & 6'3" after! ;) 250 - 260 lbs "seasonal"! Have had a Sprint 26 since 2013 with 1.75 touring tires, its' still a blast by mid summer usually running a 35 -40 mile per day average @ 16 - 18 mph... But it's bumpity , bump, bump, think I spend as much time airborne as on the road!! Still a blast though!

    could you show in a video how to get a Catrike Trail through a regular house door, it would be very helpful to me and many of my friends are having the same problem.

    What’s the best/fastest two wheel recumbent in your opinion?

    How much does this trike weigh now? Are everything you mentioned on this particular bike standard or options? Cost?

    I always love me some 700 . I like some of the changes although I do prefer the minimalist look of the older version . Yes a better park brake is nice but the cable looks like it may get in the way of the Arkel bags which the 700 looks good sporting .

      @macthemechanic 6 років тому +1

      I think you could pull the brake off, and remove some wight. You should be able to get the Arkel bags in there even with the cable.

    • @waynesbutler
      @waynesbutler 6 років тому

      Yes it would be easy to remove the cable and reroute it . Good idea for a video from Utah . When I first heard about the rear park brake I thought for sure we were going to see a rear disc , similar to the VTX . Although Utah does sell a conversion ..

    Hey do you guys sell just bare frames? I'm a MTB builder who is considering building my first Trike. All I see is kits and full trikes. I really just want to build one from the frame up so I can learn and then offer these to my MTB customers.

      If you just want to buy a frame, just contact Catrike directly - they are very good. Why would you be asking utah trikes via one of their you tube posts ? But of course you would not just want the frame, you would also need the boom, and the steering mechanisms, and the seat, and the headrest, etc. You can buy them as a kit and put together yourself, which would probably be cheaper than sourcing the wheels, derailier, tyres, gears etc individually, unless of course you can buy all these components wholesale. So perhaps you should just ask cattrike to send you everything, and then you just put it together yourself.

    Will the carbon fiber boom you sell work on this trike?

    • @UtahTrikesOnline
      @UtahTrikesOnline  6 років тому +1

      Yes, Catrike hasn't changed their boom mechanism at all, so our carbon fiber boom will work.

    here is a question for you which no one seems to be able to answer. which is faster, the Cat 700, or the ice VTX, bearing in mind different people ride at different levels... let's assume the same guy is riding both.I have the VTX,but have not had the chance to test the 700

    • @robertbarnes7831

      You don't get fast bikes - you get fast cyclists!!!!

    • @stargazzer2007
      @stargazzer2007 6 років тому

      Robert, That has got to be the most correct answer to this redundant who or which is faster question ever posted on UA-cam or anywhere else! It's more about the rider/cyclist mental and physical condition as well as practiced skills to get the most out of whatever the cyclist might ride! You win a cookie!! ;^)

      Shops sell fast bikes. The higher the price...the faster the bike. I've never seen my old Schwinn Varsity on the tour.

    • @drewskatmyselfdotcom
      @drewskatmyselfdotcom 6 років тому +1

      Well, actually you DO get fast bikes. Do you think Lance Armstrong could go as fast on a $200 bike as he could on a $10,000 one? I think not. Stephen asked if the SAME guy were top ride both trikes, which one would be faster? I know that BOTH of those trikes are faster than my Scorpion FS26 :(

      the vtx is a couple of pounds lighter, so inevitably the vtx is faster for the same wattage input. but it is also a lot more expensive so id expect it to be. the 700 is relatively good value though and looks maybe nicer with its simple flowing frame design rather than that fussy looking vtx rear frame. subjective i know. both are great machines and both are slower than a road bike lol

  • @andy-the-gardener

    love the look of the seat. not a fan of the rear brake. cant really afford the weight on an already fairly heavy machine (compared to a diamond frame bike). why bother adding a park brake when a velcro strap weighs virtually nothing. i wish they would make efforts to really pare the 700 down to say, 27lb

      The rear wheel they spec’d is a thru axel disc wheel - I would remove the disc setup myself
      I like the way my catrike expedition handles better than my bacchetta trike. But my bacchetta uses a quick release road wheel - so I use my Reynolds carbon wheel from my obsolete road bike:)
      Anyone need a 700c Reynolds carbon front wheel haha

  • @leesylvester8713
    @leesylvester8713 3 місяці тому

    The 16 inch front wheels were much prettier, that back parking brake is a waste of time when you can get locking brake lever for the front. Also this should have a geared hub in the back.

    Geez, it's as though every country has their special bikes. The market is turning these things out like crazy. I want full suspension, fenders, white, front brakes only and start making them a little higher so cars can undoubtedly see you. Also, equip w/ on & off road tires... maybe cross-country. So far catrike has better quality and professional looking bikes.

  • @marksadventures3889

    Why don't they suspend the chair on shocks or some suspension to avoid discomfort? Have you see the state of roads these days? Even on a normal road bike it's uncomfortable but being lower and closer to the road surface, that doesn't fill me with any trust!

    • @andy-the-gardener
      @andy-the-gardener 5 років тому +1

      if you want a trike with suspension, buy one with suspension. this is a trike version of a road bike. pared down to minimum equipment. its hard enough to make a trike reasonably light without adding suspension complications. i own a 700 and its not more uncomfortable than my road bike

    • @jamspandex4973
      @jamspandex4973 5 років тому +2

      Have you ever ridden one of these ? Being close to the road surface is not a problem, and the more "relaxed" seating position is *much* more comfortable than *any* road bike in almost all situations, so you don't need suspension. And this is a road trike, if you want to go off roading, you can get catrikes for that which *do* include suspension.

      If you want a Catrike with suspension, get the Dumont. There’s many Catrike models.

    Don't get off the trail or into grass, you will just sit and spin with those tires. Also don't do limestone bike paths, you will sink into the limestone. Those tires are only for racing not enjoyment.
