Ok this is gonna be long... During the third war Jaina took a lot of refugees to Kalimdor where , to stop a invasion from the Legion allied with the Horde, who had been her peoples enemies. By working with the Horde , she learnt their new leader ,Thrall , was nothing like the ones before, but was an honorable person and after the war they had peace. Her father searching for his daughter found her and declared war on the Horde, not listening to Jaina. This was due to one of his sons dying in the second war by the hands of the orcs, and so he let his rage drive him to war. Jaina ,wanting peace, let a small Horde force in to her city in Kalimdor to stop her father and this lead to his death. Where we see her here, she has suffered great loss, as years later her city of Theramore was destroyed by the order of the new Horde leader Garrosh Hellscream. This and other betrayals by the Horde under his leadership, turned Jaina form the person advising peace to wanting to wipe out the Horde. This too turned her to blame herself for everything, her fathers death, the death of her people and King Varian Wrynn death she blamed on her self,as she thought that if she had let him wipe out the horde leadership years before, he would still be alive. She also came to see the events of Arthus's fall and becoming the Lich king as her fault, as she felt that had she stood by him instead of turning her back on him ,as he was about to slaughter his own people who may or may not, have been infected by the plague of undeath, things might have gone differently. So at this point she is a very broken person. This is just a rough explanation ,I'm sure I have missed stuff out, but if you want to see her being a bad ass ,watch the Battle for Lordaeron cut scenes. Damn...That was long, maybe I should have just copy and pasted her Wiki entry? ;)
Cannot say much more than that. I agree. Also she is the daughter of the deceased Lord Admiral of Kul Tiras which is the one of the Kingdoms of the Alliance who live on a massive island and are all sea going and a maritime culture. Her father was also the leader of this nation. Current wow expansion delves into this story a bit. This would be so much longer if we wanted it to be. Like the fact she has love intrest with a strange individual which is strained atm. :)
Something I forgot to add, the home of her birth, Kul Tiras, sees her as a traitor, as the survivors would blame her and spread the news when they returned to Kul Tiras. This song she sings , which is a variation of one her father used to sing to her as a child, was written about her to scare the children and turn her into something like a Bogeyman, "eat your green or the Daughter of the Sea will get you, go to bed or the Daughter of the Sea will come for you", that sort of thing.
Her father did sail to save her when he heard that Theramore, her home, had been sacked by the horde.. Like the song said he didn't find her; instead he found his death ... Jaina's people blame her for her father, their leaders death.
Laura Bailey (Voice of Jaina) has a beautiful singing voice as well, she along with her husband (Travis Willingham) also a voice actor plays D&D in their own show called "Critical Role" with other prominent voice actors, their show it's actually pretty dawn fantastic.
The song is sung from the perspective of the Kul'Tirans, who believed that Jaina betrayed her father and caused his death by deserting him when he wanted to destroy the orcs and she refused to help him, when she returned and raised his flagship, his spirit was finally able to rest in peace.
Her father died in Warcraft 3, Jaina was in Kalimdor and he was seeking her, when he found, she made an Alliance with some orcs, but he despise them, he fought with them, Jaina tried to warm him that they were not bad, he didn't listen to her, he died without her Help, and her Homeland "Kul'Tirans" despise her for that
The song is about her. Her father died fighting the Horde, even though Jaina was in an alliance with them against a demonic invasion. The Admiral couldn't let go of his grudge against the Horde and she wouldn't stand with him. This earned her a reputation as a traitor. i believe this cinematic marks a point where the Horde had broken their alliance and Jaina is dredging up his old ship to wage war on them, asking her father for forgiveness. That last line always gives me chills. Laura Bailey just flips from remorseful to vengeful in .8 seconds.
Could not stay away, had to return and listen to this song again, been enjoying the expansion immensely, esp Stormsong Valley and sailing in the row boats all around the continent, Kul'Tiras is incredible, I have only one plea for Blizzard, please do not kill Jaina, I have missed her so much and was ecstatic at her return.
Jaina allied with the orcs when the world was in peril against demons... During this time, her father was lost at sea with his fleet, not knowing that the war against the orcs was over. Jaina built the Theramore stronghold and her people had peace with the orcs that had build their own city north of Theramore. It was at this time her father found his daughter, thinking the war was not over he assailed the orcs relentlessly and even claiming Theramore as his own. Jaina tried again and again to persuade him to talk to the orc cheiftain instead of spilling more blood, but he rejected her saying she was a fool to think beasts could talk. His bias against orcs would not let him listen to his daughter. In the end, to end bloodshed on both sides, Jaina helped the orcs to defeat her father and reclaim Theramore. He died in the final assault. She had ever since that day debated with her self if she made the right call or not, blaming her self for her fathers death, that she could have done more. Now in the video, this is years in the past... war came to Theramore again and a manabomb (think magical hydrogenbomb) was dropped at Theramore, the whole city was oblitterated. Jaina barley survived. She has suffered tragedy because of her alliances and decisions. I guess now she's going to try and amend and repair what she have destroyed.
The pendant is the symbol of the Kul Tiran fleet, and yes, she raised her fathers flagship from the ocean depths, that is the ghost ship she equips with magical flight and those awesome cannons, her fathers people believe Jaina was to blame for her fathers death, she is just so very boss!
*Woman rises ship from the depths of the sea with magic* "I don't know if it's seaworthy." I'd say whether it's seaworthy or not may not be that much of a problem for a woman who lifted a ship with her fucking mind without breaking a sweat... ¬¬
Jaina is the best living mage on azeroth, her life has been one crushing blow after another, losing her father, losing her prince, arthas, being branded as a traitor by her people and banished by her mother, but she is back, and she is total kick butt powerful, please blizzard, dont kill her!!!!!
hello again, I am back, just cannot seem to stay away, I love this song so much, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the lyrics to this song are spoken but not sung in gameplay when you play alliance in Kul'tIras, there are several different versions of the song, but my favorite is Sharm, check her out, she is absolutely amazing!
"Build more farms." Instant flash back. Great reaction you two. I usually only come for your Warcraft coverage, but I'll definitely get around to more of your content. P.S. It's funny you were to bring up Warcraft 3 actually. This song details a story you play through in Warcraft 3. With Jaina giving her thoughts on it, having changed from her peaceful nature, believing now her father was right to be spiteful of the Horde and its races.
I'm happy to see a fresh reaction from people that don't know the story... still it makes me a little sad. You should follow the story, warcraft's lore is the best gaming lore in history.
I think you still understand the story a little bit, even if you didnt know the lore. For me, this song actually was the reason why I looked up the story behind it and recently tried out the free version of wow. (I know your commenr is old but still)
Lol build more farms guess what new reforged old warcraft game is coming out with a new cinematic to go with it so you can build more farms on that and itll fit XD
Great reaction. Should finish the series. Other good videos Starcraft Kerrigan vs zeratul Starwars Tie Fighter short (anime) Warhammer Total War trailer
WTF. I WAS THINKING THAT YOU GUYS SHOULD REACT TO THIS BECAUSE I SAW YOUR LAST WOW REACTION AND THEN HERE IT IS. WTF! React to more WoW stuff please! 😭😭
Oh great series to react to. May I recommend you also react to the Lords of War series, which is done in the same style but in my opinion is a bit better.
How'd you listen to the song and then ask the question "Betrayed by family"? Would be nice if you at least paid attention, the song clearly says before that "But when he faced the savage orcs, his daughter stood aside" if that isn't betrayal I don't know what is.
Honestly felt like the lady wanted to be the done with the video as soon as it began , kept glancing at something else throughout , and reaction to climax felt kinda fake ...
Why even react to something like this when you have literally no clue what's going on? Stick to what you know, or put in the effort to at the least have a basic understanding of what you're watching.
Sadly most WoW players dont seem to show any interest for Warcraft RTS games/Warcraft III =(.... I hope most of them will give the game now a chance that Warcraft III: Reforged is coming out. I mean ye, I get that not everyone is interested in RTS genre, but since most of the lore comes from those games, and Warcraft III: RoC and TFT in particular, it always annoys me that people who are interested about the lore in Warcraft never bother to play the game that set the stage for World of Warcraft... I may not understand much whats going on in WoW nowdays, only the very basic stuff from what Ive seen on this trailers, but as huge fan of Warcraft III and knowing all of the pre-WoW lore, I almost feel like I get much more out of these trailers than most WoW players do. But ye, sad thing how most WoW players that Ive seen dont seem to have any clue what happened before or even notice/react now that Warcraft III is going to get remaster....

Thanks for saving me the time to write this! 😆
Now, they reaaaally need to see the Azshara one!
Her father did sail to save her when he heard that Theramore, her home, had been sacked by the horde.. Like the song said he didn't find her; instead he found his death ... Jaina's people blame her for her father, their leaders death.
One thing to add is that this song is originally sung by the surviving soldiers of the admiral. Hence the bias against Jaina.

Cool thing about the song is that the song is also sung by the voice actress of Jaina within the game.

First of all it's savage foes. Second of all, without knowing any WoW lore, these are sort of hard to get with a single listen. Ease up a little.

It's a nice short, but I really hate the direction they are taking with Jaina. Turning her into a self-loathing villain.

For the Horde!!!
