I grew up in the 60s and 70s just a few miles from the Lane Furniture plant in Altavista, VA. There are still folks around who worked there. Going to ask around about the mystery spot on the bottom of the table.

we were kids when we got married my wife had to have Lane Furniture- so we furnished our Living room and bedroom with lane in 1960. Today we still have only the hope chest, and an end table which still today looks amazing. But i did refinish both about 20 yrs ago. And did not stain-so the end table has the corners - which are blond and the finish looking like your table.
lane was veneer! but an excellent piece of furniture. PS we gave the other pieces to her cousin who had 6 kids and we were moving.

I have the same square on the bottom of my Lane Acclaim low table/ bench…and wondered the same as you did. Your idea of the manufacturer process is probably correct. Your table is beautiful as I knew it would be.

I love your humility. You didn’t have to explain the glue in the dustpan.

Loved how this table used the dowel system for gluing the joints in the 60's table. It probably have been easier just to have made the joints from the wood they already were using. Love the lines in this table, very simple and elegant.

Beautiful job. I remember those long cocktail tables with the long low sofas. When I was first married, I had a Danish modern wood with a crème/beige marble combo cocktail table with a long stripe beige, crème, nubby, textured sofa. I just loved the look. Good memories. Carol from California

Love your work and your understated style. Hopefully the time and motion folk looked at the spray booth and suggested posts to screw the pieces to which would bring them up to a comfortable height to spray over and under. Your idea of a turntable is probably correct. Perhaps a large round base which could be spun using your foot?

Is there a specific reason for using one type of stain over another? For example, I notice sometimes you use a gel stain, and other times you might use a traditional stain. Is this preferential, or are there times that require specific types? Maybe you could do a video explaining your take on it?
As always great video and amazing outcome!
