You need more subs. Your tutorials are not only easy to follow, but extremely relaxing. Getting into Gunpla and model building in general has been really complicated and intimidating for me but through your videos, it’s making more and more sense :). I hope to see more from you in the future
Incredible work! Others always use airbrushes to paint gunpla and make it seem really intimidating but seeing you hand painting them like this and get such gorgeous results makes me wanna give it a shot as well! c:
Man you're hand painting skills always amazed me! And thanks for sharing the color mix. Now gotta free myself some time to try hand painting my gunpla.
Great video, I wish there were more tutorials on handpainting. I just wanna build some nice gundams, not transform my kitchen into an air brushing studio!
I'm so happy you're using citadel paints. I tried watching other painting videos and it's like people don't know about citadel, Vallejo, or army painter. Like, they use toxic paints that have dangerous fumes ... keep it up man, great job!!! Also, an easy way to panel line, dilute nuln oil with contrast medium and use a thin push to drip the paint into the panel, it's like using an ink. Also inks are very cool. Ninjon has a great video on inks.
Thank you so much! And I think people who do gunpla don’t use water based acrylic often because they aren’t exposed as much to those brand. Also, I just found out about the technique you mentioned! I also found that you can wipe off mistakes of the Nuln oil panel line if you wipe it off with simple green or purple power if there’s a clear top coat underneath. Anyways, thank you so much for the comment!
This is rad af. I got a bunch of snapped up kits, never jumped into painting. Realizing I can't currently afford the cost of an airbrush set up. I finally made a smaller jump on some brushes. Still need a few more things, but watching your vids, I can't wait to try it out. Great vid.
In my opinion, any brushes would work. My only advice is when you’re doing detail work or painting small details, I definitely recommend non-synthetic(sable or animal hair) brushes
@@i.r.o.4456 i have nylon(?) Brushes which I don't use cuz they're so stiff. I use a brush with animal hair (ithink) but it spreads like it's spiky, i cant paint cleanly. Do you recommend cutting the sides to maintain that kinda diamond brush shape?
Really like your white and yellow. Any tips on painting those I alway found that they're suck. Or maybe I should prime grey before I paint white for a better finish?
Ordered my first gundam because of this video, HG Aile Strike Gundam. Does it make sense to do a zenithal on these things or should i just go full white primer? The contrast on the transformation from before to after was amazing. From Mcdonalds level to straight out of the anime!
Zenithal priming helps if you’re intending to paint the lights and shadows. If not, then going full white would greatly help with painting brighter areas on the model. Good luck!
Super helpful as I'm getting myself ready with the tools needed to paint my kits this summer but had a question on what kind of brushes did you use or would recommend? The kits I would be painting are SDs and HG.
hello, mr. I.R.O! First of all i wanna say thanks so much for these videos, i've always wanted to get into painting gunplas, and these videos are a god send for me. Although there is one question that has been nagging my mind; What would you do if you want to paint say.. a joint part? For example, the RX-78-2 in the original anime of Mobile Suit Gundam, both the joints of the elbow and knees are colored white (or at least appears to be), so i want to try painting those joints that are most commonly grey for most kits of the RX-78-2. Would painting the joints be a problem when trying to pose the model? I am very concerned that it could cause the paints to be scratched off when posing. Obviously a good solution would be to not pose the kit after it is painted, but i would hope to be able to get some cool photos of the finished painted model in various poses. I really hope there's a solution to this! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! To answer your question and in my experience, the joint shouldn't be a problem unless it's a ball joint or poly cap parts. The paint is sturdy enough to withstand the joints motion. Even if the paint were to wear off, then that area will most likely be not visible to worry about. Hope my answer helps
thank you for the response! i see, i see. i suppose i should just try it out and hopefully it will go well. i've also heard that sanding down the parts that covers the joints which would be rubbing against the joint while moving the piece could be a good solution. anyway, thank you so much for the information! i'm always looking forward for more videos that could help me level up my gunpla skills!
Thinning the paint and apply few thin coats to get the result. Patience is key so let each thin coat dry before applying another layer to get a stronger color
Wow, just discovered this video! It’s what I’ve been looking for: a good tutorial on hand painting gunpla with acrylics. Your work is top notch and fantastic! I have a question, what do you do if you make any mistakes while applying details? I see you didn’t use masking tape, do you just wipe it off quickly before it dries? Thank you!

Glad it made you feel that way! Hand painting is definitely much cheaper way to start, and lots of fun!
@@i.r.o.4456 you got any recommendations on a brand/type of paint I can start with?
Vallejo, army painter, citadel and DnD paints are good recommendations
@@i.r.o.4456 right on, thanks!
👏 very well done, i appreciate the step by step walk through.

I usually don’t cut mine, but rather remove any excess paint off to get a sharp point
Nice as always
You are too kind. And thank you for the comment!
Can u make a video about the magnet gimmick for gunpla?i'd love to see
Sure thing!
can you tell me what kind of paint you use, the video is great
I used citadel paints, and Vallejo, army painter, and other water based acrylic hobby paints are good alternatives

Cheap brushes from art store is usually enough for most work. What I used are synthetic acrylic brushes from Citadel brands
really nice video and technique!!! do you know how long should it take for each coat to completely dry out?
Water based acrylics dry quite fast, but with thin consistency it usually dries around a minute or two

Yes! And I am in the middle of recording them all

How big was the magnet that you used btw?
3mm magnet

When you make a mistake, you come back to it later when the paint is dry. It’s deceiving, but you shouldn’t try to wipe it off
@@i.r.o.4456 Ouch, I guess you do have to be careful! Thank you for this.
Do you have to use primer?
Not necessarily, but it does help paint adhere to the surface better

what size of scriber better to sdex
Starting from 0.1mm might be good
😨😱
I want to watch this... but that left handed painting is killing me. 😵🔫
Lol hope you survive till the end.
