I have the2021 M340 and trading it in soon for the 22 X3. I LOVE the M340. Fast as hell and sexy, but too low for my growing family lol. Trading for the X3 only for the ground clearance and roof height making car seats easier to fit and take out. If I wasn’t having my 2nd soon, my M340 would’ve stayed in the family!
These are very different cars, while the hp / size might be comparable, the BMW has an exciting 6 cyl and chassis, whereas the Volvo has a 4 cyl with some extra power. Same for the Audi Q5e. It's fine, it can accelerate, but it just doesn't take turns in the same way or have the sporty sound of the BMW inline 6... If you like cars and driving (maybe a bit fast sometimes), get the BMW. If you like luxury, your options are quite open, it's a big segment, and the Volvo is attractive (but I heard reliability problem, maybe go for a lease!)
@@carlosguerrero1956 Same engine, elevated chassis, a lot to love in both these cars. I wish they made a M340i wagon, or even crazier, a M340i wagon with air suspension that can lift on demand - if there is a little mud/snow, but have the ride height of a sedan 99% of the time, for handling/etc. I'd be all over that one...! The X3 M40i is nice but while they did an incredible job at making it drive well for an SUV, it still has a slightly high center of gravity. Way better than the X5 though, that one feels like a boat!
Thank you but after I drove the X3, I test drove Volvo v90 and its a much better crossover by every means. From comfortable seats, luxury features and the great looks front and back.
Reasons not to buy: 1. They made it a mild hybrid out of the M40i and tuned the engine down. Why for turbo lag? The B58 is solid why drop the HP and Torque from the engine? 2. Fog lights are gone! If you have any wildlife in your area or need to see better with lower aimed beams you’re f$&&’ed. 3. The design language is going in the wrong direction. This LCI is nice, but one of the last X3’s before they f it up and make it look like it made love with a Lexus and somehow spit out an Alfa Romeo with a BMW Roundel. 4. They continue to lose their feel. The F chassis was a huge loss for the driver’s car. The G chassis CLAR architecture is awesome for a solid quiet ride that doesn’t make you feel like it’s going to fall apart when you hit a bump. 5. They keep removing amenities and stall on adding options commonly found in non-luxury vehicles. Love the Headlamp Washers they killed off and remote start is not that big of a deal if most mid level trim packages in American cars have them. I have had four BMWs and even took the opportunity to give some of these cars some hell at their Spartanburg, SC M Performance Driving School. - I’m not a brand detractor, but it’s sad to know this is the last one I’ll own if I want to give up fog lights and wonder about the mild hybrid.
@TN good point. I used to be a BMW Genius, not that that means much, but I just can’t get behind the new design language. Also, is the 19hp motor for turbo lag the twin scrolled turbo is not supposed to have? I recall Merc announcing in 2018 ish they were going to do a small electric motor to help with theirs watching some BMWNA training videos. If this is the same technology that JLR was using during that time frame that they called matrix lighting? If so, I can see why fog lights are no longer necessary. Are they intelligent enough to know that shooting highbeams into snow or fog or not ideal and will lower their aim similar to what a LED fog light would do? I passed up on a Genesis GV70 also due to lack of fogs, but maybe they use similar tech since they piecemeal’ed their team from the best engineers and designers out there. I will always and forever miss the day I do not have headlight washers. It is a great way to spray the car behind you when they are tailgating. I call at the squid move! And then slam the throttle on my little N55 powered LCI 2017 X3.
I have the iX3 which has the same suspension I believe and I used to have the 2016 GLC so I know both, the iX3 is. Much more comfortable. The GLC feels like it doesn’t even have a suspension next to the iX3.
Man, nervous about buying the 2022 X3 X30i with M SPORT package. The out the door is 57k. We are trading in a 2018 Audi Q7 with 53k miles. Trade offered on the Audi is 35k. The existing bank is willing to take the deal with 22k down. Current lean is 39k owed on the Audi. Looking for the go ahead!
@@mypointofview6118 yes! We did move forward with the exact deal as outlined and have owned the X3 now for just under one month. We only have 300 miles on the clock, but so far, it is all wins. The M SPORT PACKAGE is a must have if you plan on getting the new X3 otherwise we feel it would be a bland spec. 👌
@@amsakharov regarding the 2018 Q7, it's biggest achievement is that it does feel very refined even in 2021 it did. The fuel economy was simply disappointing as we never averaged better than 17mpg. When we pulled a small 5x8 Uhaul trailer, it was more like 12mpg. Also, my spouse wanted the "new gray" paint, so we found it would have been over 3k to wrap the Q7 or 7k to paint! The storage is sufficient on the X3 especially the fold flat second row. The third row was not a must have for our family.
I bought a new X3 in July 2022. I am extremely dissapoinnted because the car does not have ACC. My other cars all have it, very basic as they too are luxury models.
I hope they change the dashboard design for the 2026 BMW X3 it’s getting kind of old. They could do something like Mercedes cabin with 2 connected screens
I love my bmw but I am tire of expending my savings on fixing it, I wish bmw could focus on making the engine more reliable and easier to to fix simple things like water pump, radiator, gaskets, shame on you bmw .

no air suspension, no merino leather, no leather on the dashboard, no massage, not a comfortable ride - but I agree it's cheaper than GLC or Macan, but calling it the best crossover... I don't think so.
no leather on the dashboard? :) thats some strong reason bro...hahahaha...no message? no comfortable ride? did you even ride it? beside it has leather seats available

I don't think it's expensive. The 30i of the BMW X3 costs 480,000 yuan to get the bill in China, and $74,111 after being converted. You can buy Porsche Cayenne at this price in the United States.
They always used reliable components... But "reliable" does NOT mean that there will never be problems, people don't understand this. And statistically, BMWs are very reliable and have few problems. Unfortunately, you only ever hear about the bad experiences and not the good ones.
Test drove X3 30i and Tesla Model Y Long Range back to back today. Got very disappointed in "ultimate driving machine". BMW is not only significantly slower, but also engine response is very sluggish. Floor it and count 2 seconds before turbines spool up and it gets going. Otherwise, so yesterday "2022" refreshed model

I have always told people to buy something Japanese, or German made, I was a Nissan fan for decades and in 2019, I purchased a new, fully loaded, 2019 Infinity QX50. I wanted something that offered better building materials, fit and finish. At almost 2.5 months into ownership, I started having Electrical and Computer problems with the SUV, that the Dealership can't fix. The DCU has been replaced 4 times and the problems still exist. Infinity is aware of the problems in the 2019 QX50 and they said that they don't know how to fix it. The Safety features malfunction, Audio System and Climate Control will not work at times, trunk won't close at times, Transmission does not shift properly and hangs on to gears for too long at very high RPM's when in STANDARD MODE, false collisions causing the vehicle to slam on the brakes, ABS not working properly. this vehicle is clean all the time, so the Sensors are not contaminated with Dirt, Bugs, Snow, ect. I Love my 2022 BMW ! I only wish I could drive it more, so beautiful makes me feel good when I am in it.💖💖💖👍
I absolutely love mine too! I bought mine 2 weeks ago; it’s Mineral White with the Mocha interior and ambient lighting. Gorgeous!!!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
@@sassyone82 I work for Enterprise Car Rental in Philly and I drove 2 of ‘em. Very very impressed with them. Never was a ‘high end’ kind of guy when it comes to cars and SUV’s but that X3 was a joy to drive. Might consider BMW.😌👍🏾
I can't decide between the X3 M40i or the XC60 plug-in hybrid.
@@carlosguerrero1956 just get the x3 m40i
does 2022 x3 has heads up display?
Yes it can be added
I drove X3 since 2019 and just change it to 2022 Mini Cooper Countryman and I love Mini Countryman much better!!
How do you disable start stop?
IN THE MENU SYSTEM
Got one love it 👍
I watched this a year ago halfway and just now realised that I bought the exact car two months ago but in black and the M-Sport 😂
I love my just got it last Saturday 🥰🥰
Thank you but after I drove the X3, I test drove Volvo v90 and its a much better crossover by every means. From comfortable seats, luxury features and the great looks front and back.
Lol wrong comparison. You were even proud of it😂
When Volvo drivers get burned. LOL!
You're calling the xc90 a crossover? That's like comparing a cruise liner with a speedboat
Absolutely Beautiful!!!!!
Junk
Reasons not to buy:
Which one has the more comfortable and quiet ride? The X3 or the GLC?
I have the iX3 which has the same suspension I believe and I used to have the 2016 GLC so I know both, the iX3 is. Much more comfortable. The GLC feels like it doesn’t even have a suspension next to the iX3.
Man, nervous about buying the 2022 X3 X30i with M SPORT package. The out the door is 57k. We are trading in a 2018 Audi Q7 with 53k miles. Trade offered on the Audi is 35k. The existing bank is willing to take the deal with 22k down. Current lean is 39k owed on the Audi. Looking for the go ahead!
Congrats on the purchase!
So Did you buy the x3?
@@mypointofview6118 yes! We did move forward with the exact deal as outlined and have owned the X3 now for just under one month. We only have 300 miles on the clock, but so far, it is all wins. The M SPORT PACKAGE is a must have if you plan on getting the new X3 otherwise we feel it would be a bland spec. 👌
What was your reason to trade in Q7? How do you find less space in x3 vs Q7?
Tell us about the problems with the 2.0 crap engine
If you don’t like it, don’t buy it…
I hope they change the dashboard design for the 2026 BMW X3 it’s getting kind of old. They could do something like Mercedes cabin with 2 connected screens
2026??
BMW will no longer offer wireless charging on X series. It is a shame. I was thinking to buy this car but the lacking of this option stops me.
It does have wireless charging and it works great!!
too many reasons, if you cant afford it buy toyota
But there is USB C charging port all over the car which charges faster the wireless… Your reason seems illogical..
I love my bmw but I am tire of expending my savings on fixing it, I wish bmw could focus on making the engine more reliable and easier to to fix simple things like water pump, radiator, gaskets, shame on you bmw .
Yes but this one is not 15 yrs old already
No, is 7 years less than 90,000 miles and there is Oil leaks everywhere, I check my vehicle every Saturday morning and do regular maintenance at the dealership and just like that , water pump, radiator house, valve cover crack,!oil housing gasket fail, oil pan gasket fail, at once!? that is ridiculous.
@@eduardoguillen6385 lease a brand new one 👌🏻
I never really liked the x3, but of course this body is just space

Make sure to get a guaranteed buyback amount from BMW Finance, otherwise the dealer will try to screw you over!
@@petechab6634 BMW residuals are always fixed.
no air suspension, no merino leather, no leather on the dashboard, no massage, not a comfortable ride - but I agree it's cheaper than GLC or Macan, but calling it the best crossover... I don't think so.
no leather on the dashboard? :) thats some strong reason bro...hahahaha...no message? no comfortable ride? did you even ride it? beside it has leather seats available
No wonder other countries laugh at American car owners. Around the globe, cars are looked at as transportation. In America, it's a symbol of your ego. 19 cup holders (Subaru)? Cooled seats? Merino leather? Rear power recliner? Ridiculous.
Bmw suvs > Mercedes suvs
why?
Facts! Better performers PERIOD!
The rear design lights looks like something japanese cars would do
@@justinseah4011 somehow the e-cars of german manufacturers are always overdesigned... for example GLB looks way better than EQB and IX electric looks worse than IX3.
Mercedes suv better
Why they removed the fog lights for 2022 is beyond me... so stupid.
I was not happy either with no fog lights...dumb move
Holy import duties!!! here a m30i costs 100,000 USD plus.
To be honest, I do not need any reasons!
it is same size as an old X5
Which generation?
First gen
@@SlyStinkyPete even first Gen X5 bigger the current X3 not by much but still bigger
@@jkdoodle4460 it doesn’t matter what previous Generation of X5 you’re talking about since even the smallest X5 made in 1st generation is still bigger then current X3.

3:35 How could you do that BMW? I'm sad.
Umm excuse me but these truly are not that much. I like it. Picasso
Nice but too expensive, can you review the new Kia Sportage & Sorrento as well as the Chevy blazer? I think these offer more over-all value in this inflationary economy.
I don't think it's expensive. The 30i of the BMW X3 costs 480,000 yuan to get the bill in China, and $74,111 after being converted. You can buy Porsche Cayenne at this price in the United States.
style ;)
Better go with x1 and safe 20k €/$.
‘Arctic circle customs’ is on here. He must have got fired from BMW. He is trolling all the complimentary comments. Luv ya work artic fartic 🤣
Tell us when one of those reasons are that they started to use reliable components under the hood. Endless money pits 🚗
They always used reliable components... But "reliable" does NOT mean that there will never be problems, people don't understand this.
And statistically, BMWs are very reliable and have few problems. Unfortunately, you only ever hear about the bad experiences and not the good ones.
@Mark Brix You are right ! Some people drive BMWs to the ground without properly maintaining them and complain about its reliability.
Test drove X3 30i and Tesla Model Y Long Range back to back today. Got very disappointed in "ultimate driving machine". BMW is not only significantly slower, but also engine response is very sluggish. Floor it and count 2 seconds before turbines spool up and it gets going. Interior is very busy and plastic is hard (cheap) everywhere. Only advantage over Tesla was suspension - I felt like BMW better eats potholes and isolates noise from wheel arcs. Otherwise, so yesterday "2022" refreshed model
Buy the Tesla then. The world knows that hardly anything compares to EV for acceleration.
So you compared an EV to fuel combustion? Response in EV's is immediate, everyone knows that.
@@TenCentsMusik I'd say the response from BMW is slower than my wifes Accord 2.0 turbo and comparable to mine F150 ecoboost. Disappointing for ultimate driving machine
@@maximlg253 the x3 30i is as basic as the x3 comes. It's not that serious. If you want performance, get a 40i or be bolder and get the x3M or x3M competition. A tick or two slower than the fastest Tesla suv but on a roll, it would wipe the floor with the best EV. There is something for everyone. Don't compare EV acceleration to the most basic internal combustion motors.
@@nallis01 Agreed. Though at $50K I'd expect better engine for 30i
Interior is so far behind the competition, just better cheaper options. Tablet like display, that's just old tech in 2022.
I'm not sure what competition you're referring to? The X3 is priced fair considering performance and build quality. Definitely not Asian vehicles!
If you love Kia…
A Honda CRV can be much better than this in every aspect. We got the Porsche Macan instead 6 years ago which is a much better. car.
BMW X3 should be compared to Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC. Not sure why you comparing it to economical car CRV with around 190hp. It’s like saying Toyota Corolla is better than BMW 3 series. No Comparison here.
@@financenumber2953 good point! Don't compare x3 to CRV and don't compare X3 to Macan. Come on! Btw, how is your top of the line Macan vs a top of the line x3M? See my point? The Macan is $h!t compared to a x3M.
dont say bullshit bro, I ride both of them and you cannot compare X3 ride with CRV...why so many of you guys are so ignorant
Don't think a Macan is better than X3. More expensive, but not any better 🤷🏻♂️
5년안에 꼭산다.. 기다려라
interior is the worst in BMW, from a 5 BMW OWNER in past 4 years. Now I am totally over it.
This is true compared to say Audi and Benz. However, I have owned multiple and what has kept me coming back are the ///M models or their higher trim lines. I used to have an e46 M3, a 335i and a 550i. Performance are what draws me to BMW. The driving experience is like no other. These days I just lease them because unless you plan to buy and keep a M car, these things should only be leased.
@@nallis01 That is a shame for me, Because I never had a true M Car, I bought 330i, M140i, Z4 M40i, X5 30d, X3 M40i. Don't get me wrong, I like the performance of the car, I was planning to purchase new M3. But the price they quote was R1.6M, then all a sudden went up to R2.1m. I am very disappointed. Now I am with Porsche, It is fantastic car. I like the exhaust sound better and gear shift as well
@@jimmyyoung163 I get you. Those 40i cars are nice though. But I know if you go Porsche, there is no way back.
Quality wise it's market leading
@@duercos1 I agree with that, but I am not sure if it is No.1, My wife had a Merc GLC250d 2017 Model, I have to say it is not good with driving experience, under steer a lot and suspension feel too soft as well as brakes. Now I bought a Macan. I feel it is better than BMW.
No thanks. BMW's interior design is outdated and the materials are questionable in the X3. Also the tail lights look like something that belong on a Subaru.
Doesn't' even compare to the Volvo XC60. It competes with the smaller Volvo XC40.
The BMX X3 and Volvo XC60 are identical in size and pricing. The XC40 is an X1/X2 competitor

Junk , everyone that I know that bought a x3 are sorry for buying one . So many electrical and transmission problems
I never believed in guying a vehicle from the Big 3. I have always told people to buy something Japanese, or German made,
I was a Nissan fan for decades and in 2019, I purchased a new, fully loaded, 2019 Infinity QX50.
I will be going with the 2022 BMW X3, but in the M40i variant, as soon as my Lawsuit against Nissan / Infinity is done. The X3 checks all the boxes for me.
Those are some serious issues you are having with that car. I hope you can get a good result with the lawsuit, that is really unacceptable they say they cant solve those issues for a car that expensive.
Good luck and Please let us know the result!
