Just got mine. I couldn't afford the M package 😩 so went with the base package. I came from a 2012 X3 so even the base X3 is so much better. Great car. Can't wait to break it in so I can start driving in Sports mode 🏎💨
Currently leasing a 2020 X3 M40i with all the bells and whistles. (Purchased Oct 2019) Only thing I can say that I'll miss next year when the lease is up, is the drive and speed. Other than that kinda overhyped, but I guess these cars aren't made to last?? Had a Gensis G80 prior and only seen the dealer 3 times in the 3 years. Each year for the included oil changes/tire rotation. I've been to the BMW dealership at least a dozen times. Incase anyone is interested, 360 camera system after about 3 months, started blowing out the parking lines, in parking lots. Like you could see with your own eyes, the lines were straight, but on the system it was like someone painted them slanted. Brought it in for repair, (Replaced side mirror housings) they fixed it about 90%. Was told "It's one of those things, you're not the only one to have the issue. When BMW gets enough of them in, they usually put it up as a bulletin"...I'm like okay? but I didn't purchase it like that, so that doesn't make sense, but w/e. Insane whistling noise when going 40mph or higher from driver side mirror. Faster you go, the louder it gets. They replaced/"fixed" the issue twice. Whistle came back each time after about 2 months. Eventually I just said F it, windows always up. Power liftgate has a mind of its own, and will randomly open by itself. When this happens it gets stuck in this weird loop. It will go all the way up, then start closing. It will get to about 60% closed then bouncing back and forth between 100% open to 60% closed. Nothing you do will stop this possessed tailgate. Not the key fob, not the power buttons on the lip of the tailgate. The only thing you can do is start the car up, then it will freeze in place allowing you to press the button on the tailgate to close it...This only happens during rainy/snowy weather. I want to say prob reflections from the went ground with the kick plate (Kick motion under the tailgate to auto lift it) Dealership programed the car so the trunk can only open if the doors are unlocked, but that didn't help much at all. I suggested they turn off the kick plate, but idk.... After a few months of driving the care initially, the car gave me a warning that it was at it minimum level of oil. Which I'm like wtf? Does this car eat oil? Popped in and they put more oil in. The list goes on and on, but it's been a weird ordeal with this car. Drive and speed the most fun out of any car I've had to date (Which is seven. 34yo if that matters) but overall...to me at least very overhyped. Lastly this was custom ordered. As they didn't have a signal unit on the lot with everything in it.
My 2021 X3 has had several interior rattles in its first 6 months. I've taken it in twice, losing the car for more than 20 days in the process. New rattles replace the old ones. Poor assembly standards.
I must be one of the lucky ones. I leased an X3 in 2019 and my lease is up in July 2022. Knock on wood I haven’t had many issues. In fact, this is my 3rd BMW and this is the one that has been to the dealership one time for clogged sunroof drains after 2 days of raining and a sudden temp drop. I’d love to lease another X3, but I’m thinking maybe I should give Mercedes’ Benz a try.
@@tashapasha2995 We've had good luck with long term BMW ownership too; it stinks when there are issues, but most people have good experiences. BTW if the car market hasn't eased up by July, you should consider buying out your lease. You can probably flip the car and make money on it.
I can't understand why adaptive cruise isn't standard on an almost 60k car. The B58 engine is amazing and I'm thinking of ordering mine with those beautiful 21'' inch wheels.
I’ve been wondering that but then I realized I think it’s because they made it complex and more highly integrated than other brands simpler systems. Because they are higher end they can have more complete higher end driver assistance suites and because of that, they don’t have a basic adaptive cruise option; it’s all integrated at such a high level you basically have to take all or nothing. So…they give you nothing and wrap it up in a big bundle that people, somehow, forget to check off when ordering. It’s like high end cars and ventilated seats. Find a BMW or Mercedes with ventilated seats AND adaptive cruise and I’ll show you a Unicorn,

the next x3 will have a dramatic update... they always do this, they make small upgrades a couple of years then the big update comes.. always buy when the big updates comes and this is not it :)
So funny that you keep calling this a "small" SUV. To European standards this is a mid-size SUV and a huge car. The X1 and X2 are called "small" SUV's over here. :)
It's smaller than the X5 and X7 and smaller than the coming iX electric. If you need to fit 3 kids, kids car seats or people taller than 5'10" in the back seat, you may wish you opted for one of the larger models. Especially when those kids have fun kicking the back of your seat!
I would pay extra to have gesture control and "hey BMW" removed - neither works well per many other reviews, and neither worked well in real time here. Otherwise - nice ride.
She said this X3 has premium sound system. She lied. This X3 does not have that. If it did, the door tweeters would say Harman Kardon. This X3 has the base HiFi audio system which is terrible.

Best BMW X3 ever built

Not one mention of ride quality during your drive. And you drove it in sport mode. 99% of people 99% of the time drive in comfort mode.

To be more accurate, the X1 is BMW's "little, crossover SUV." The X3 is considerably bigger.

You can NOT pay extra and skip those features, too. They are quirky but when they work, they are fun.
