  • Adolescent dog training, is it "reactivity?"
Oreo is a young dig who has recently been adopted. She gets super excited when she sees other dogs, if she's held back she'll bark and can be a little over enthusiastic when she greets them.
Things she'll have to learn as a city dog.
    1. Dealing with dogs on lead (her, the other dog, or both)
    2. Dealing with dogs off lead (same as above)
    3. How to politely engage/disengage socially
    4. How to deal with her frustration when she doesn't get to say hi.
We dealt with a lot of this in our first session. Settled her, started teaching her to pay more attention to her human, lots of watching without full on social interaction.
No slip leads, to grot/garotte collars, to prong collars, no choke chains, no shock collars, no verbal or physical reprimands.
Not perfect, but lots of progress from this team in the first session.
While some say it can't be done without the use of aversives, others are out there doing it.
