Overall Sword Length : 38 Inches
    Handle Length : 9.5 Inches

    About Rifle:
A rusted rifle needed more work and time than making a katana out of it. But still I didn't want to destroy the rifle but having a katana is way more amazing than a piece of junk. Thanks to People for sending us amazing items. Try not to comment me about destroying the rifle as it was a piece of junk. Thanks
All the Processes are below of making this beautiful KATANA:
    Forging:
It took me almost three to four days to hand forge a Rifle Barrel into a long Metal Strip and this was a challenging forging due to lack of steel. I learnt a lot while forging this Katana. I don't have a power hammer so it is not easy to hand forge a giant piece of steel.
    Grinding:
I started some rough grindings on my 4x36 Belt sander. Hand sanded the edges with the help of file to remove almost all the roughness of the sword.
    o. The blade bevel was made by my professional 2x82 BELT GRINDER.
    o. Hand Sanded the blade to remove irregularities.
    Hardness:
There is a professional way to harden a Katana and that is
As the Barrel steel is not much harder due to low carbon content in it. According to my knowledge it was 1041 steel with 0.41% carbon content which is pretty low to make a katana. But still we put the sword into the fire and heat it to particular temperature. We use oil to Quench the heated sword in it. Now the Bevel is hard and the remaining sword is annealed. Tempering the blade is the best way to increase the Strength, Hardness and Toughness of the sword.
    Nordic GOLD:
This is an alloy of copper including 89% Copper (Cu), 5% Zinc(Zn), 5% Aluminium(Al), 1%Tin(Sn). This metal has pretty much same colour as Gold. But it is very hard material as steel while grinding So this was a beautiful choice to make katana handle parts.
    Hibaki:
This piece is traditionally made by forging some copper or brass but we can also make it by casting process. I made the Hibaki with casting of Nordic Gold via lost wax casting technique. And the purpose of hibaki is to hold the Sheath with the handle.
    Handle:
    The Handle contains these parts.
    o. GUARD: I made the guard by casting a sheet of Nordic Gold, which is beautiful turned into a pretty Katana guard. The purpose of the guard was to protect the wielders hand. When blocking a sword strike it is very common for the opponents swords to continue sliding down your blade. The guard creates a solid stopping point saving the wielders hands and fingers from injury or amputation.
    o. Wood: A nicer piece of wood uses as a handle. After some hand carvings it gets a perfect fitting according to katana. leatherette were used to cover the handle and I wrapped it with beautiful black ribbon.

Yeah, a Katana's curve comes from the quenching, because of the different hardness of steel created by the procedure that makes the Hamon. When quenched it curves, it is not made curved, the curve is technically a defect caused by the Hamon. There was a guy that was making some sword and his sword was curving mysteriously, until he got what was happening and he made a reverse curve in the original blade, and when quenched it became straight.

On the one hand, it's nice to see the rifle repurposed and given new life instead of heading to the scrap pile. On the other, it's sad to see something with that much potential historical significance get neglected to that point. There's no way to know exactly how old it was but the action is a Martini-Henry one and the design goes back to the 1870's.
