Naginata were originally used by the samurai class of feudal Japan, as well as by ashigaru (foot soldiers) and sōhei (warrior monks). The naginata is the iconic weapon of the onna-bugeisha, a type of female warrior belonging to the Japanese nobility.
Naginata for fighting men and warrior monks were ō-naginata. The kind used by women was called ko-naginata.

The amount of intricacy and care that goes into making this... You could've had such an easier time by even skipping a few steps and going cheap on some of the parts, but you took the time to give every part your 100% effort. This is truly exceptional and you are an absolute master at your art. If I could subscribe ten thousand times I totally would. You deserve it. I pray that you keep up the amazing work in this job that you are so evidently passionate about. You deserve every bit of praise that you receive. God has truly blessed you with an amazing talent.

That's the most beautiful naginata I have ever seen!
It's also the first naginata I've ever seen, but still! 😅 The process of making the hilt to the shine and sharpness of the blade.. Wow! Really well done!!

Beautiful naginata.. I honestly would love to start forging but currently i spend too much of the daytime working on cars and at night i watch videos before i crash out haha.. Hoping someday soon i can start forging things myself so i can eventually forge myself a full set of japanese blades including a katana, tachi and tanto to name just a few 😅
Great idea
This dude did what my grandpa would do and just made the tool he needed😂. Nice work as always. I'd be proud to wield this piece of art.
Can we appreciate how much he does for us
He sells that too ya know, it’s not just for the views
I thinks that improves the safety
He is earning that much also so don't say that he is doing a lot every person has to to hardwork to earn and God has mad us for this purpose and he is doing great as we see in his videos I am also a youtuber but no fame
He literally forged a tool to finish his project, Ledgend Status in my book.
I'm just sitting here remembering what his first videos were like. All the money he's made from this channel has gone into all these machines you see here. Dude's a fucking legend
Nice job, but if you ever have an inkling to build another one, the handle shaft on traditional Naginata were oblique, so that the wielder can easily index the blade edge. Round shafts were used on Yari only, because they were a mere stabbing weapon, and blade indexing wasn't necessary!
Was wondering if anyone else would make this comment about the handle being round. Other than that this thing is a work of art!
Hey he can probably make stuff with a hamer and knife and sharpener stones
This is why in the cutting demonstrations he wasn’t able to cut cleanly, if at all. He basically bludgeoned the coke bottles with the side of the blade because the alignment was off, because of the round handle
Can u index me?

Magnífico.
I have a question: does it rust? If yes, what do you use to stop it from rusting?
light coat of wd-40 should stop any surface rust
A light coating in gun oil is good if you're going to be using it often. If not, you will want to apply renaissance wax; it will protect your sword or other steel weapons from rust for a couple months if you don't touch the blade or cut anything with it.
@@Fellow_Daoist But if you do use it often, what would be the solution from stopping the rust?
@@vladrugina94 Well, if you don't care about the looks of it, you can spray paint the blade. Spray paint will prevent rust. You can also use a light coat of gun oil or mineral oil on it. That will prevent rust from forming.
@@vladrugina94 Remember to reapply oil or wax after each use.

Love all your videos so much!
I would like to ask how you got into forging? Was it through inspirations from others as hobby, or is it related directly to your work?
Question! I'm curious, in this video we saw the brass bar you melted down, I was wondering if by chance you melted all the scraps and or shavings into another brass bar? At least with the metals that are less easy to obtain like brass, nickel, etc.
日本人として誇りに思います!
