Just a technical note on he transformer in the SM58, Yes, it transforms low voltage high current from a low impedance cartridge to a higher impedance at lower current, so yes higher voltage. This is not a power amplifier, but an impedance match. As such, Shure could have used a very fine wire in the voice coil and with it, the much higher breakage due to vibration and dropped microphones experienced by other brands. The transformer allows Shure to use a very robust larger wire voice coil with fewer turns so there is less breaks from corrosion from condensation, loud sounds, and the occasional abuse in handling. Their roadworthy track record is a legend in a robust handheld vocal mic. As a bonus the potted transformer in the handle adds mass and reduces handling noise too, a good property for a hand held mic.
I like the warm sound of the 58. Perhaps too much of the warm sound, can get boring ? However, which microphone would be interesting when singing at the same time, playing piano?
If you did a sound rejection test on the V7 I think you would hear a difference. The reason I switched to the v7 is my vocal harmonizer was picking us my acoustic guitar a little which caused it to get a little off. The v7 seems to pick up less off axis sound
I've been a sound engineer for many years and I'd say your observations are spot-on. I still prefer the 58 on some voies, including my own but the V7 is impressive. As a side-note, I just bought the V7 because I was asked to re-create Taylor Swift's vocal sound from the Eras tour and that's what she used (attached to a Shure wireless transmitter mic body). I think Billie Eilish does, too. As another side-note, the SM58's grille is designed to crumple instead of passing all the shock into the mic itself if it gets dropped. It's kind of a cool design feature in disguise.
At this point I’m convinced, your mic collection is wild 😭😭😭 I remember stumbling on your video for the first time while trynna make a decision of getting the rode nt2000 or the nt2a
@@nofacetway2hard you best believe I gotta sell half of em right after the review to afford the next ones, it's not a library of mics in here, trust me 😂😅
Great video. I don’t know if I should get a v7 or a nt1 . I have an untreated room that i can somewhat make it better by putting a rug under the desk but idk how much more. But still dont know which to go for . I do like making music for fun/ do streaming/yt videos as well
@@selfishv2 consider a middle ground of a medium Diaphragm capsule mic. It doesn't collect as much background noise as the NT1 while providing more detail than the v7. Something like an MXL770 or at2035
Hi Sir I am starting telugu voiceovers, Present using At2020 with Audient evo 4 , In untreated room but having heavy blankets, pillows and mattress, Recording good But thinks , if i upgrade to large diaphragm, is upgrade improve quality or not. Or At2020 with Audient evo 4 enough good Setup.
@@SKumar-bj2ud depends on what LDC you'll be upgrading to! If it's a rode NT1, with enough treatment, yes, it'll be a nice upgrade :) (although you might need to do a little bit of changes to your mic technique) But if it's something like a Boya or an off brand LDC, stick with the at2020 for now.

@@RonnieSandifer you're correct. This mic being a supercardoid is also probably my second favorite thing about it. Incredible rejection!

@@anas_voice_over okay thoughts on the at2035 ? have you used that one ? someone is selling a very clean 2nd hand version . what do you think.

Rode nt1a
At2035
Lct 440 pure.
Which is best for vocals and voice overs.
@@SKumar-bj2ud lct440 would win this comparison. Do not get the NT1a, there's better options nowadays.
